  Try to manually open the CD/DVD drive.
  Near the eject button, you will find a small hole.

  You can use a small object like staple and could push gently into this hole.

  Usually, this should help to open the drive manually.

  I personally found that to use a class in the way you describe you must make a function for the class and then call this function: creation, for example participated
