Where should you install Oracle database and grid Infrastructure in order to comply with OFA?

I downloaded two files compressed to the Oracle database installation, and both zipped install files for the grid Infrastructure.  The book I'm following for installation is said to use a directory of the database and a directory for the grid Infrastructure, but it does not explain where they should be located in OFA.  Probably they should both close up somewhere in the same Base of Oracle (since all Oracle related on a single file system should go in the same basis, according to my understanding), but it is not clear where they need to be installed over the other.  For example, the grid Infrastructure is a separate product that gets its own Oracle Home?  Anyone can shed some light on this process?

Also, does it matter where the zipped files are uncompressed?  For example, use one of these files after the installation process, or OFA only cares location after installation?

Yes, they go in separate oracle_home.  This should be explained in the respective Setup Guide.  This will be a CAR or a standalone ASM?  I have

It does not matter where you unzip the installation files.  They are only used for the installation.

  • Oracle Applications 12.0.4 and installing Oracle Database 11.0.1

    Hi gurus,
I intend to install Oracle E-Business version 12.0.4 that comes with the database to Oracle 10 g 2 (database demo of Vision).

According to certification matrix Oracle E-Business Suite 12.0.4 release supports the 11.0.1 Oracle database. So, how can I do a version of E-Business 12.0.4 use Oracle 11.0.1 vision demo and not 10 gr 2 database version.

What I need to upgrade 10 gr 2 after installation, or is there another way?

    Thanks in advance

As you say, you must upgrade the database after installation. For more details, please see:

Anyone know where I can get Clusterware 11.2.0.2?

Version 12.1.0.1.0 would work for me?

    Thank you

Sorry about that, I thought it was there. It turns out that with TimesTen 11.2.2.6.0 also now support us network infrastructure 11.2.0.3 and indeed recommends that more 11.2.0.2. The 11.2.0.2 and 11.2.0.3 are available via My Oracle Support, only it seems.

  • Need to understand the basics of Oracle RAC and grid technology, for training

I need to understand the infrastructure Oracle RAC and grid, a manager / training perspective.

I see links here and here , so a few questions:

-What is the fundamental difference from the layman's point of view (for example, a Manager)?

-What training options are available for a generic 11g DBA to learn this new technology? I've seen this course from a partner of Oracle ("" courses: Oracle 11 g: RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administration accelerated Release 2 ""), to a boat load of money, during 5 days I think. So we are looking for something a bit more reasonable (and accessible), for example, books, online, etc.

For a very basic definition, ACR is technology that is used by the database and IM is the infrastructure that makes the CAR work. In a response to the forum, this is probably all that can be said about the two. For a very long answer, you should read the links you cited.

    # 2, the course you are looking at is called accelerated because it combines two courses in one week training-RAC (4) and GI (3). So it's a day 7 curriculum that we would do in a 5 day course and who must justify its cost. But let me say, it's a really very good. But on the other side, it can be pretty intimidating to someone who does not already know these technologies. So I suggest that you send your team to each course individually and no doubt after doing some research. They can start to read the following books

You cannot install on your desktop. You should not change the default value.

But your question, I think that you are really dealing with the installation of Acrobat DC program. This can be anywhere, run it and it will do the real work of installing all sorts of places.

Once it's done, the installer of archives. Place a copy on CD/DVD, you may need in the future or your software may be lost.

  • If you install Oracle 11 g XE with active windows firewall APEX is dead

My first installation of Oracle 11g XE was carried out with the active windows firewall.
The database configuration was completed in bad condition because post install scripts did not stand because port 1521 has been locked.
You got the "Get Started" link did not stand ok and browser got an error page.

Allways install Oracle database with the non-active windows firewall.

You can read in the documentation, installation...

    2.1.2 the Windows Firewall configuration

If you plan to install Oracle Database XE on a computer running the Windows Firewall, which was introduced in Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, and then connect from another computer, verify that the firewall has not been configured to block all communication between the following inbound ports. These ports are the default ports that users Oracle Database XE.

    1521: oracle database listener
2030: oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server
    8080: Transaction oracle HTTP Server

but that apply to connect from another computer at your facility, not the installation process.
I think that the documentation must contain "disable windows firewall before you try to install.
Allways install Oracle database with the non-active windows firewall.

Or add the listener and apex port numbers to the list of exceptions.

It depends on the version of the OAS used. OAS 10 g R2 install Oracle DB (M.) by default, but this step is not required, you can possibly create Repository metadata with OPNRRM and bind your intermediary no later than.

Do not install an operating system is usually caused by (in order of probability):

    1. you are trying to install with other devices connected to the computer. Unplug them before trying to make an installation.
