Installing Oracle Clusterware and TimesTen

I'm trying to configure TimesTen with Oracle Clusterware and this Web site ""installing Oracle Clusterware and TimesTen ' said I should 'Install Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.2' However, when I go and look, I found this page: 'Oracle Grid Infrastructure downloads' however as you can see on this page it has no version 11.2.0.2. "

Anyone know where I can get Clusterware 11.2.0.2?

Version 12.1.0.1.0 would work for me?

Thank you

Victor

Sorry about that, I thought it was there. It turns out that with TimesTen 11.2.2.6.0 also now support us network infrastructure 11.2.0.3 and indeed recommends that more 11.2.0.2. The 11.2.0.2 and 11.2.0.3 are available via My Oracle Support, only it seems.

    Hello Sangram,
According to my understanding, root.sh has not run successfully it is revealing that no resource is attached. You must run root.sh after cleaning the installation CRS has failed. Once root.sh is executed successfully, you should be able to see the resources on all nodes.

  • Where should you install Oracle database and grid Infrastructure in order to comply with OFA?

I downloaded two files compressed to the Oracle database installation, and both zipped install files for the grid Infrastructure.  The book I'm following for installation is said to use a directory of the database and a directory for the grid Infrastructure, but it does not explain where they should be located in OFA.  Probably they should both close up somewhere in the same Base of Oracle (since all Oracle related on a single file system should go in the same basis, according to my understanding), but it is not clear where they need to be installed over the other.  For example, the grid Infrastructure is a separate product that gets its own Oracle Home?  Anyone can shed some light on this process?

Also, does it matter where the zipped files are uncompressed?  For example, use one of these files after the installation process, or OFA only cares location after installation?

Yes, they go in separate oracle_home.  This should be explained in the respective Setup Guide.  This will be a CAR or a standalone ASM?  I have

It does not matter where you unzip the installation files.  They are only used for the installation.

  • How Oracle Clusterware Oracle RAC and 3rd-party Clustering with them

I have some questions on how Oracle, Oracle RAC and 3rd party clustering CLusterware fit between them.

Q1. My understanding is that the Infrastructure Grid Oracle Clusterware is Oracle's Clustering solution that allows applications to cluster? that is, it is a general clusterware solution to compete with those already on the market. Is this correct?

Q2. So why CARS is necessary for the Oracle cluster databases? An Oracle database is not just considered one application like any other? So why can not just use you GI / Clusterware to gather what you would do for any other application? Why so you need RAC to the Clusterware Summit?

Q3. Is it is possible to combine an Oracle database using 3rd party of clustering and not use Oracle Clusterware and CARS at all that is can you say cluster, an Oracle database using say Sun Clusters, Clustering AIX or Linux native same clustering?

Q4. If the RAC is purely for Oracle Cluster databases - what is with the title "Real Application Clusters"? What's real on this subject?, what to ask?

Q5. I also read that RAC can use 3rd party of clustering. However if you decide that this is the case, then you need to install Oracle Clusterware when even (I think for interconnection must be created to allow the merger with Cache between Instances of node?).

Is this the case?  If yes why never bore you with 3rd party clusters? -Since you will have to install Oracle Clustering anyway - and I probably have to license (all I can think about is the scenario that you already have a cluster of 3rd party in place and you decide that you need to use the same material for a database cluster)?

    All wisdom greatly appreciated,

    Jim

Yes, with 10g, you had to use the CRS, and with 11g, to use the GI.  For 9i RAC, you would use Verits Cluster and Sun Cluster or anything else.

11g RAC to GI.  As above, you can use clusterware extra if needed.  I gave the example above where to a 10g RAC we used the CRS to the cluster database/listener/vip and allowing groups of volume and filesystem in HACMP cluster.  File systems were not shared, but could switch to another node failure node, who has been treated by HACMP.  The volume of the groups containing the raw devices were shared volume groups.  For 11g, I never used extra clusterware on top of CRS and have always used ASM which is part of the GI.

The application provider only certified database to run on 10g on AIX with raw devices.  What is strange about that?  It would be unusual that you probably expect to use ASM instead of raw devices, but it is what it is.

We are trying to install Oracle Forms and reports 11 GR 2 (11.1.2.2.0) 64-bit Solaris 10 SPARC 64-bit (U9) and we are facing errors of installation during installation of 11 GR 2 forms. I will note down the environment and steps reproduced to produce errors:

    Environment:

    Operating system: Solaris 10 SPARC 64-bit (U9)

    JDK: Oracle 1.7.0_79 64-bit JDK

WebLogic: Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.6 64-bit

    Form & reports: 11.1.2.2.0 64-bit

    Steps to follow:

    1. install JDK - success

    2. installation of WebLogic Server 10.3.6 (64-bit) and created a new home of Middleware. -Success

    3. ensure that all prerequisites are met by a prior information of Oracle: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E25460_01/r2_fr_requirements.htm

    a. all patches necessary OS and packages are installed

    b. There are a lot of disk space, swap, TEMP space and memory (RAM live)

    c. all environment variables are cleaned, as indicated in the prerequisites in the URL

    d. no other product Oracle doesn't lie in the path except for the JDK. (NOTE: Forms 6i is installed in a separate House in the server.)

    e. all software are 64-bit

    f. the user oracle (same user who has installed the JDK and WebLogic) has read, write, and execute permissions for the entire House of Middleware.

    g. we set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to $ORACLE_HOME/lib as indicated in the Doc ID 1643548.1.

    4. start the installer of Forms

    a. choose 'install only - do not configure ".

    b. all the prerequisite checks passed

Errors: Installation product until it reaches approximately 92% when we get the first error:

"Error in invoking target 'nnfgt.o' of makefile '$ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk'. See "$ORA_INVENTORY/logs/installDATE.log" for more details".

If we click on 'Continue' to work around the error, we get another error after that:

"Error in invoking target 'repeat' of makefile '$ORACLE_HOME/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk'. See "$ORA_INVENTORY/logs/installDATE.log" for more details".

Someone has met these errors before installing 11 GR 2 forms (11.1.2.2.0) on Solaris 10 SPARC 64-bit?

    Thank you

    Scott

We have solved the problem. The library of expr has not found in/usr/xpg4/bin but in another location. After you create a symbolic link in/usr/xpg4/bin pointing to where it has been deployed, the installation is completed successfully (after removing the previous attempt failed).

A test you can do to make sure that expr is working correctly is to run expr 1 + 1 in the shell. If the command works, the library can be found.

Matthew, I thank you for your suggestions as well.

  • X32bit Oracle Clusterware/PAP Windows Installer or Windows 64-bit?

    Hello

What is your suggestion to install Oracle Clusterware RAC on Windows.
    Why choose 32-bit Windows?
    Why choose 64-bit Windows?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

    Hello

I would certainly recommend 64-bit Windows, the main reason is the memory address limit.

In my view there is no benefits to use Windows 32 bit with Oracle Clusterware/RAC.

32-bit processors are 32 - bit wide address registers (can handle up to 4 GB of physical RAM).

You can use a workaround by allowing the addressing, 4, using settings in Windows (AWE/EAP). But if I want to use more than 4, I'm going to 64-bit Windows.

The 4 GB of addressable space per process is divided into user and system space. By default, the system space is 2 GB and the private user space is 2 GB. Each user process share the same system 2 GB address space.

Services of the Clusterware, ASM and listener will consume at least 1 GB of memory initially.
If you create an instance to use 1Gbytes and you have 50 connections you will have problems with connections to the database that is causing the following error.

      TNS-00510: Internal limit restriction exceeded
32-bit Windows Error: 8: Exec format error

     TNS-00507: Connection closed
32-bit Windows Error: 109: Unknown error

Reason: Use of memory problems. that is from memory.

    Another point:
With 32-bit Windows using the 11.1 Clusterware/PAP, you can set automatic memory Management (AMM) (MEMORY_TARGET) but you cannot use if you create 2 Instances on the same host.

    Check this note...

    * ORA-27102, OSD-00031 impossible to extend the Memory_max_target and Memory_target spent 2GB [ID 842881.1] *.

Oracle solution: Please install the 64-bit on a 64 bit server operating system, there is therefore no limitations of memory

I think that's the reason that Oracle is not supported Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11.2 on 32-bit Windows. You cannot use ASM 11.2 on 32-bit Windows.

Without a doubt there is no reason for me to use 32-bit Windows to support Oracle Clusterware.

There are a lot of involved services that require a large memory and memory on 32-bit limitation.

At present all the latest processors are 64-bit supported. Then install Oracle Clusterware/RAC x 64, even when you're using less memory 4, you have advantages.

The use of 64-bit advantages are:

64-bit Windows versions have implemented up to 16 terabytes of virtual address space
    programs 64-bit use 16 terabyte tuning model (8TB user / kernel 8TB)
No performance penalty for the large memory capacity
    Connectivity to unlimited users
64-bit versions of Windows allow addressing of memory sizes physics important without using EAP

    * Configuration of Windows memory: 32-bit and 64-bit [873752.1 ID] *.

This document gives a better understanding of my point of view.

Check through START PROGRAMS installed ORACLE products and find a Home Selector application. You should be able to use it to set the active home directory.

For batch scripts use the SET Windows to set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID command for the database that is appropriate for the task.

  • install Oracle 12 c and migrate data from 9i to 12 c on Solaris

HI: this is a primary control to check IAM step by step.  I need to migrate the server Oracle 9i (Solaris) to 12 c (Solaris) to the customer request. I have the instruction of installation YES from the team, the draft plan is:

    1. install Oracle 12 c binary on Solaris Server

    2 exp/imp, method to move data to 12 c 9i.

Should I create a database "empty" by script until I use the exp/imp method to migrate data from 9i?  Or, is it better to use the option 'create the single database instance' in YES during the installation of 12 c, then exp/imp?  How about the "plug-in database" or the "CBD/PDB' concept to 12 c?  It's still new and I am not master familiar with it, that I have to use all "CBD/PDB' 12 c or not?

Any problem that I need to know?

    Thank you very much!

You have your point of disagreement, but it is the best approach of guys Upgrade Oracle, google for Mike Dietrich blogs on updates. And your concern that make upgrades does not allow you to practice, well, you could easily make a few tests on my upgrade on a test environment, I really don't agree with your point here...

Sorry - but I agree with the ground.

Anyone who still uses 9i has some questions SERIOUS architecture dealing with totally outside the DB and data. There is just too much features auxiliary available (e.g., ASM, GRID, EM) which did NOT exist in 9i or substantially changed.

It is also a non-starter, IMHO, not to recommend as an upgrade to 11g without even knowing the 9i version that uses OP. A direct upgrade to 11g is NOT possible since the first versions of 9i. So if such a version uses OP they couldn't make a direct upgrade anyway. They will need first to upgrade to the last version 9i and then level it to 11g. Then, they should adapt to 12 c.

Then you must take account of the need for BACKUP:

    1. PRIOR to starting to do something

    2. AFTER the upgrade to 9.2.04

    3. AFTER the upgrade to 11 g

    4. AFTER the upgrade to 12 c

Compare that to the approach of that ground is recommended to use export/import. There is NO need to save the source DB at all since the process will NOT change. Simply a backup after upgrading to 12 c.

The verbal and demo explanation does not use the original location/Oracle HOme of the previously

In addition, for some steps to follow to patch binaries PFRD, I'd put it:

Step 4.  I am guessing that the patch will establish an another sub dir Disk1 and don't want to overwright

    Also

NOTE: The Installation screen is not "from" group of patches as in the video where it says
Install Oracle Portal, forms, reports, and discover the Group of hotfixes.

    Hi Charlie
I'm a little confused by this feedback. Especially when you say that you see the option "install - do not configure. Should this option is visible only when you run the Basic 11.1.1.2 PFRD the software installer. The Group of hotfixes 11.1.1.4 has his own 'runInstaller'... and this will display what you see in the viewlet. You definitely run the installer from the directory of stage in the Group of hotfixes? (I'll do my own validation test - if I find something strange going on... I'll report.)

I now take the following action

    1. I will put the Viewlet so it is clear that the Group of hotfixes is staged in a different place from the base 11.1.1.2 media
    2. provide that nothing must be running (because at this point, no instance of 11 g of construction has been configured)
    3. There's a "slippage" that illustrates the Middleware and Oracle Home entries in the screen "Location of Installation to specify" IE

    Middleware homepage: / u01/alca_portal/middleware
    Oracle home: PFRD_Binaries

However, you will see that this slide for 2 seconds (which is an error) and if you miss it probably.

Just FYI - the House of Oracle 11 g correction is in general the same procedure as patching a mid-layer House AS10g i.e

-You set the Oracle Home base using the installation of the basic software program
-You patch the Oracle home using the installation program of the Group of hotfixes

Maybe suggest to change the documentation in MOS Advisor upgrade,
to remove step 3 until after the upgrade the binaries and install patches 11g group.
Or change this 3/4 part to talk to install IDM.

Part 4 patch the Oracle home (04:57)
    https://support.Oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show & type = ATT & ID = 1118681.1:PD11G_INSTALL_PT4 & inline = 1

RE: NOTE: it looks like a typo/read error on the page that says "necessary to run the Wizard Patch (PSA) Set?"
There, it says '... If the Group of hotfixes version UCR has been used, no action is required. "I think that it should
say «...» If the Group of hotfixes RCU version was NOT used, no action is required. »

Part 5 running the Configuration Wizard (08:50)
    https://support.Oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show & type = ATT & ID = 1118681.1:PD11G_INSTALL_PT5 & inline = 1

Specify the Application FOR page/section: you must specify OID information for installation of the portal.
If you do not wish to integrate oracle descoverer services and do not want single sign - on, uncheck the box.
RE: NOTICE: verbal instructions on this boy, are confused.    Instructions on where to get information from the OID would be useful
here. in addition, the instructions show that if you have specified use of discoverer, a check box is displayed and check
That's if you want to use the SSO on.   A blurb on what if you did NOT specify discoverer would be appropriate here.
Or something about this discoverer is and if it comes by default with the installation.

First, as discussed in another thread, I plan to reformulate the wording of this step... so thanks again for your comments.

Note on this question / comment

"To understand at the time where we upgrade repository portal.  In my opinion, who runs the configuration wizard PFRD is that fact for us.  I will go through the video.    And me who runs the IDM upgrades OID configuration wizard. »

PFRD Configuration Wizard does not upgrades the repository of the portal, it creates just a portal 11g AS Instance against the repository Portal 10g's existing. The Upgrade Wizard upgrades site two-step

1 put Update Wizard (option "upgrade intermediate level Instance") upgrades 11 g base instance configuration so that it matches the source portal AS10g instance configuration

2 Upgrade Wizard (option "Upgrade the repository in metadata schemas") upgrades the repository Portal 10 g.

It's a similar story for instant messaging, only the IM Upgrade Wizard upgrades the configuration file system and the GI database schemas in a go (IE there is no upgrade wizard option separated to "Upgrade the repository in metadata schemas")

I think that the Viewlet created the PFRD and IDM Upgrade Guides whether clear.
