• How can I get the most out of my 24 - bit audio?

  We recently did a project where all our audio has been sent to digital recorders to 24 bits, 48 hen k. I import the files in the first it does not appear that all of the problems, but I can't find the settings when creating a new sequence which allows to use the 24-bit audio (only 12 and 16-bit). If someone could help me understand what follows I would be very happy:

  1. are there parameters of use of 24 - bit audio in a sequence? If Yes, where?

  2. If there is no setting of 24-bit, does this mean that my project is about the original high quality file even if the sequence is fixed at 16 bits? Or is my 24-bit audio being changed to 16 bits when I drop in the sequence?

  3. I guess the main question is: is it worth for me to use 24-bit audio in my projects?

  For the standard output formats of PrPro, Audio will be sous-échantillonné to 16 bits. Now, when you import, PrPro must respect these files to 48 kHz 32 bit floating point (in format CFA) for editing.

  Other than an editor audio, such as Adobe Audition, I think that the 48 KHz 16-bit will be as good as it gets.

  I have an old Mac with OSX 10.5.8 - assuming that I am not in a position to replace the right now, what is the best performance I can get out, via upgrades etc. ?? Any help appreciated

  I have an old Mac running 10.5.8.  It's a Power Mac G5, and I could use it as my Mac primary (for most things), if my Intel Mac mini came down.  It has 4 GB of RAM; It could go much higher (up to 16 GB), but 4GB seems to be more than enough for the race of Leopard.  It has a 128 GB SSD as the startup disk, and the other internal drive is a hard drive 2 TB.  The currently-installed video card is stock - nothing special, good enough for my application.

  It is connected to the TV in the living room for display; It is "hidden" behind the HDTV.  It uses my system stereo as its speakers.  It acts as my network storage "data dump".  I can watch videos on web sites like YouTube (although less of it since getting an Apple TV), as long as the web site uses based on HTML5 video (not Flash video-based).  The latest version of iTunes for Mac PowerPC (10.6.3) still work with current iTunes game service, so I can listen to my library of music complete iTunes on this subject.  Since it's next to my stereo system, I did and still do audio recording (using an older version of GarageBand).  For example, to scan tapes and old LPs of music.  I also use it to record audio from my TV decoder.

  I don't know if you have an iMac G4 or G5.  If it is a G5, it can substantially benefit an SSD, because it has a SATA interface.  For a G4, because of its old PATA interface, an SSD is probably less effective to increase overall performance.  But it would probably improve things like startup time, and it can benefit an iMac (G4 or G5) by producing less heat and making less power compared to a standard 3.5-inch hard drive (less stress on the aging system).  Certainly maximize its RAM.  Storage and RAM - you can't really do anything else internally, since this is an iMac.

  For the software, Use TenFourFox as their web browser.  Safari for 10.5.8 is old and does not have to be updated over the years.  TenFourFox is a special version of FireFox, actively maintained by a dedicated developer, optimized for Mac PowerPC under Tiger or Leopard.

  TenFourFox, that's what makes my PowerMac G5 can still be used as a computer 'every day', more than any of its hardware upgrades.

• Get the most out of WAP300N

  Hi guys... just bought the WAP300N and was Advisor after WiFi extender mode.

  I currently have a Linksys WRT54GL, my main Router - 2.4 Ghz Wireless G. I bought for push WAP mainly range.

  For mode Extender, the WAP300N should be on the same 2.4 Ghz or are there advantages of the network with the 5 GHz band?

  1. Console service - 2 NICs (Nic teaming as Active setup

  It's the best practice or that I'd be better off the coast with Active - Standby or active - not used

  2 - 2 (Nic configured teaming) network cards as Active production

  Production traffic is on its own VIRTUAL local network.

  Yet once it is advisable or that I would be better off the coast with Active - Standby or active - not used

  3 iSCSI (we use HP Lefthand iSCSI Storage) - 2 cards network & 2 VMKERNEL ports configured.

  I have configured VMKERNEL Port1 creative NIC1 & NIC2 unused

  I have configured VMKERNEL Port2 Active NIC2 & unused NIC1

  Does that seem correct for iSCSI recommended for performance?

  4 vMotion - configured with 1 NIC

  So my question is my iSCSI or Production vSwitches would benefit from having additional VMNIC added to them?

  In my opinion, that your solution is in accordance with best practices, get a network card dedicated to redundancy VMotion and iSCSI for the console service and therefore prior would be improvements more redundancy.

  I'm looking for a simple method quickly convert all filled with symbols and characters to the described features. I have a lot of files similar to this one, so I hope its something I can repeat easily.

  The problem is that each character or symbol is not a simple filling. Instead, the filling consists of many forms. Each form has its own plan. It is therefore very difficult convert the image in all the theoretical outlines of characters and symbols.

• Looking for your experience to get the most out of your audio files

  I see some of you use itunes or other players and I would like to know what your Setup is for playback.

  What I really want to do is be able to play in my car through my stereo.

  I have an FM transmitter that I used it with other devices, that works well, but it has a 3.5 mm jack socket.

  I think if I had to have an adapter for 2.5 - 3.5 it works, but will probably not not in stereo.

  What exactly you are looking for in what is optimization? You want to connect the phone to a FM transmitter and read on your car stereo. Your biggest weakness is the FM transmitter - what is generally where people find sound degradation, but it seems to be your only option.

  The only thing to do is a cable that works. But yes, many people use their phone as music players. BT is easier because he has no son, but he still has to pass a clean signal.

  If you want all your music in your car, then it is worth. For my car that does not have BT, I have hundreds of songs (MP3) engraved on the drive - my radio MP3 like that media and it is easier for my daughter to deal with. But if you have thousands of songs, and you want that they all there all the time, your FM transmitter is the only way.

  The best solution - IMO - is a radio with a USB port and the ability to plug in your phone and saw it as a drive - all your music is available, AND it is accessible just behind the phone.

  I've never been real confident on the parameters to maximize power/speed of rendering of my computer. I was wondering if someone could give me their opinion on how they would have set preferences 'Memory and Multiproccessing' with my hardware. I ask this because using the current settings I posted in the peak, making the maximum use of the processor % is 25%, the rest being inactive. (Premiere Pro renders slow for this configuration too). Anything jump to you who might trigger my hardware run more slowly? Thank you!
