Why has my direct mail ceased to save to the sent items folder?

A few days ago (28/01/12), my windows live mail has ceased to retain one of my sent items.  I can't find any option that might have been operated inadvertently.  Can anyone help?

Thank you

If you use the version of WLM 2011...
Click the sent items folder > above, click View > custom views > under description of view #2, make sure that it is said to Show the message. If she hide the message, click on the word Hide and in the zone of the pop-up window, click Show the message > OK when finished.

If you use the version of WLM 2009 > in my opinion, it goes like this > sent items folder > in the Gil, click View > click View Cureent > click Show all messages. (I use version 2011. Is not sure of the exact wording in the 2009 version).

If none of the above works please repost in Windows Live Solution Center, e-mail Forums - son of Mail section:

  • loss of the contents of the 'sent items' folder in windows mail

Somehow all my emails sent in the 'sent items' folder of windows mail have been dumped. It's the second time that this has happened almost two years, I've been using vista. I checked to make sure that "show all messages" is accused in the "current view" for this folder. What could have caused this? These messages are recoverable? I often see messages sent from various pieces of information and would like to have them back.

I suggest you go after that each file previous e-mail from the Windows directory where they are stored (and not only the sent items folder) and bring them into a separate file.  Then open with your e-mail program to access the sent items folder that it contained - but I now see that Windows Mail does save all emails in a file separated as it happens with Outlook using a PST file to store emails, but rather to the separate folderr, but I think they can be stored as .eml files as well as in folders so it is still possilble).  I read what follows in another post: "Windows Mail stores mail in files .eml, a file for each message, more more information about messages came together in a single file over (sorry, I don't remember his name)." I think that there is also a file for each folder. All these files are, by default, hidden - which means that you must activate the search for hidden and system files when looking for them. "I don't know for certain if this is accurate or if it will help, but it can mean that snapshots might work if you go after types of file using Windows Explorer and not Windows Mail.  But I think that one of the following products will work better (and faster) since some seem to be capable of managing entire folders at the same time.

Here are a number of free file recovery programs that may be able to help you.  Try them in the suggested order.  For this you will need to at least know the name of the folder and perhaps file names (or least their extensions - although in some cases that is perhaps not necessary).  I am not sure if these will work with Windows Messaging files, but I think that it's worth it to check a few is:

http://www.watchingthenet.com/recover-deleted-files-folders-in-Windows-with-free-undelete-utility.html (try this one first because it says it can recover entire folders and then you do not have to know the names of files)

http://www.SnapFiles.com/freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html (try Recuva second - it is the best for general file recovery and can also operate in this case).

http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/DiskDigger.html (if you wan't to keep trying, try this next.)  If it doesn't work, the chances of the any of these work programmes is very thin but you can try as much as you want).

Here is a commercial program which claims can be done, but it costs $99: http://www.diskinternals.com/mail-recovery/.

Here's another commercial program that costs $69: http://www.vistafilerecovery.com/email-recovery.

Here's another commercial program that costs $50: http://www.emailadept.com/Windows-Mail-Recovery.htm.

Here's another commercial program that costs $40: http://www.tech-pro.net/windows-mail-recovery.html.

I hope that one of the free programs can help, but if not, then I hope one of the commercial products helps if you want to spend money on recovery.  I don't recommend commercial products - I don't know any one of them and just offer them as an option.  Most include a free trial where you can see what you are able to get it back before you actually buy it so the risk in these cases is minimal - but I'm not entirely sure how they will interact with your system - once again, I only offer them upward in option and you should use them at your own risk.  Regiarding all of the 3rd party software, Microsoft does not recommend this product and you install and use at your own risk.

Honestly, I hope that you are able to recover your lost emails using one of the above programs.

    Good luck!

  • Windows Live Mail sent emails do not appear in the 'Sent items' folder

original title: sent Mail not in the folder

I've just set up Windows Live Mail on a new laptop using Windows 7 Outlook came not with my desktop software. Why don't emails I send appear in my folder "sent items"?

Sorry to have troubled you - problem solved. To set up my new Windows Live Mail I thought I need to establish a Windows Live account, so I did. Is not familiar with the presentation of Windows Live Mail, I didn't know that there are two accounts on the left side and one has been expanded, the Windows Live Mail account. My Westnet email accounts has been listed but not developed. As soon as I expanded it here, he had the sent mail another folder which included my recently sent emails! Outside of embrrassed, glad it is resolved.

  • Windows Mail, the content of the sent items folder disappear.

I read on the page after page of windows answers but none that I found explain why this happens. I know I can find them on the HARD drive, but why is it happening? I have had this problem several times and would like to know what to do to prevent it.

If its Norton or McAfee, you're in trouble, because they are not compatible.  If its something less invasive such as bases of safety of Microsoft, and then in the settings, make sure that you disable the eml files are analyzed as that can lead to incompatibilities between the database and what is actually in the message store.

  • THE DELETED ITEMS FOLDER DOES NOT EMPTY IN WINDOWS MAIL. __

When I right click, empty the deleted items folder, it only deletes a single element at a time.

Is this something that just started or he works this way for you? I have the same setup with Mail value remove all their output and it has always worked for me. I tried to recreate what you see by right-clicking on the deleted items box and selecting delete and he emptied the entire folder.

  • How to remove the elements in the "Deleted items" folder using Microsoft Windows Mail?

This used to work, but I was not able to remove items from the deleted items folder and it takes a lot of space.  I used to be able to do it and it automatically deletes the items when I closed Windows Mail (it is always set up to do, incidentally, does not yet), but now it does not work. I've tried everything. I used the link at the top of the page coming down and clicked on "Empty Deleted Items Folder", but it does not work.

I tried to download Windows Live Mail and it won't work on my computer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Maybe could turn the setting and then turn again. Sometimes it works, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did not help, or if you have already tried.

    Take note of the following:

    1. I've never used only 8 years old, Windows Mail
    2. Windows Mail is not supported.

The deleted items folder has a clean button on it? This can empty it completely. Another thing to consider is that your e-mail service can remove items deleted periodically. However, as you say, it takes place, so you can delete them manually.

Alternatively, you can consider changing the e-mail programs. You said that Windows Live Mail did not work. You can try an older version, because I don't think not 2012 works on Vista (based on absolutely no evidence, by the way) another option to consider is Mozilla Thunderbird. If you have Microsoft Office and it includes Outlook, certainly use it.

That's the only advice I have. If this does not help, I don't have anything else for you.

I can delete the new entries, but there are a few video fwded causing w/message does not. the Explorer did the same thing.

  • Why has my e-mail outlook and contacts not transferred using simple transfer of W7 toW7

I tried to use easy transfer to move my files when reformatting my counter top seven windows. This was done on an external hard drive to help facilitate the transfer. When I moved to a new computer a few months back my old XP system using easy transfer, this has worked perfectly, but this time, well that all the remains transferred my outlook e-mail and contacts files do not have. I even had to set up my outlook POP of goals and his works now fine, but with all the historical mails lost.

If the backup of the image took you simply copy the data files in a location of Documents (once you have found here origonal location) you don't NOT restore/copy to origonal location that will only cause more problems
