Why is it not available for Vista Home Premium Management Console?
Microsoft took a lot of control of the administrator. My system has just done a right to shutdown "Unexpected" in the middle of a large file I have tried to download. Now I have to start all over again. I think that things like 'computer management' could at least install.
Microsoft offers anything like this as a snap for the home premium version?
Here is an article on some managers free download for Internet Explorer (although you check again each as I just scanned the article and you must also ensure that they are compatible with Vista - I don't check them practically found at least one that says it was.) Research your final choice very carefully to ensure its compatibility with your version of Vista, the configuration of your system and your version of Internet Explorer. Maybe one of them can prevent restart of downloads from scratch if you lose your connection or for any other reason. Some say even be able to pause the download. As these are all 3rd party applications, you install and use them at your own risk - Microsoft assumes no responsibility for what he would do to your system or your programs (including Internet Explorer and Vista itself). The decision and the risk is entirely yours. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-download-manager.htm#gigaget.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Why keep away my restore points for vista Home premium?
I read recently on TechRepublic on Vista Restore devours all the disk space if not configured correctly. I used vssadmin list shadowstorage to see my restore points there is not! I did a manual restore yesterday point and repeat the command vssadmin, it appeared and everything looked good. I went today to see if the restoration has created another point of restoration, as it is supposed to do on a daily basis, made the shadowstorage command, no restore points, including the one I did yesterday!
I am running Vista Home Premium, SP1 32 Bit on an Acer Aspire 6920 G computer laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache, 3 GB of Ram and a 320 GB hard drive with a partition C: and D:, 104 GB left of 140 GB on D: and C:, so disk space is not a problem the latter being of full backups mobile operating system and storage, NVIDIA GEFORCE 9500 M. For security I run McAfee Security Center, as well as Spybot S & D operation resident Teatimer. Not a dual-boot machine. I checked that the C: drive is selected for restore points, and it is. Any help is greatly appreciated.Hello
Absolutely, I think, that's why I mentioned. Tried to get others who suggest Spybot
for Vista and especially IE8 to tell people to stop the SBSD service and do not use TeaTimer.Good idea to stop the SBSD Service - value STOPPED and MANUAL, you can use SpyBot as
as scan if needed. If you uninstall an antivirus/antispyware/security program never always go to their site and get
the removal tools and/or special instructions - if you just use remove any at all they tend
Let the remains.

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.
Prevx - Home - free
Windows Firewall
Windows Defender
Protected IE - mode
IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)
I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.

http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.aspAlso get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.I hope this helps.

Printing for Vista Home Premium 32-bit network: Blank document or disappears from the queue
I'm having trouble printing large format HP DeskJet 1000 c, which is connected via a parallel cable to my Media Center/DVR PC running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2 on my printer. I connected with the success of this printer to two different computers, a desktop PC running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit SP2 and a laptop Mac OS x 10.5.8. I can print from the local computer very well, but when I try and use the printer on the network, one of two things happens depending on what machine I try and print from:
1. from Vista 64 Desktop: printing the task appears, treats and disappears from the queue to the local printing on PC DVR. Printer advance a sheet of paper as if he were about to print, then waits with a power indicator light flashes. If you send a new job network, the tip sheet of paper is ejected and the process begins again. If you send a new job locally, the tip sheet of paper is ejected and the local job will print normally.
2. from Mac OS x: printing the task appears, treats and disappears from the queue to the local printing on PC DVR. Printer does nothing.
Although the process of networking of printers with OS X 10.5 and Vista is a bit more complicated (annoying) it was with XP, I am able to print from the Mac to a printer on the Vista 64 machine very well. Similarly, PC DVR allows you to print to the printer of the Vista 64 computer and a printer connected to my Mac desktop.
I checked the HP site for drivers and since it is a quite old printer, there is no listed for any operating system newer than Windows 2000 (which a pilot has been included with the operating system). Any ideas as to why the PC DVR will not take of the network print jobs? Unfortunately, this complex printer (3 printers, 4 machines) installation is somewhat needed due to the possibilities of each printer and how my home office is laid out. If they did a multifunction, printer laser color large network format, I could sell my soul for what it... But I'm not aware of such a machine available to mortals.
There is a difficulty that recently came on the HP Forums for 64-bit Vista:
http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-all-in-one-software-and/DeskJet-710-720-810-820-100-series-printers-patch-for-64-bit/m-p/203377#U203377
All you have to is to download the mentioned file and replace some dll with those provided.
The question remains with OS X, but I do not expect that Microsoft will provide no support for this.

There is a work around for this message because it applies to SP2?Biggar Gordon
Houston, TexasHi Colonel biggs,
Welcome to the Forums Microsoft Vista
This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
· A program on your computer interfered with the installation of the service pack.
· There is an inconsistency in the store of Windows services. The store Windows maintenance is a required component to install service packs.
To resolve this problem, try each resolution in the 'General resolution"and the"Advanced Troubleshooting"section in the order in which they are presented. After trying a resolution, try to install the service pack again. If you can't always install the service pack, try the next resolution.
Resolution 1: Install the stand-alone package for the service pack instead of using Windows Update to install the Service Pack
Note If you have already tried to install the stand-alone package for the service pack and you have encountered this problem, skip this resolution and go to resolution 2.
If you don't know if you've tried to install the stand-alone package for the service pack, it is recommended that you try the following steps to install the stand-alone package for the service pack. By using the stand-alone package to install the service pack, you eliminate installation issues that may be related to Windows Update. This simplifies the troubleshooting process
Solution 2: Run the system update readiness tool
System Update tool checks your computer and trying to resolve certain conditions that can interfere with the installation of the updates or other software. However, before you download the tool, you must determine whether your computer is running a 32-bit version or a 64 bit version of the Windows Vista operating system. If your computer is Windows Vista installed, and you know which version you are using, go to the section "how to download the system update readiness tool. If you are unsure which version your computer has installed, follow these steps:
1. click on Start
2. collapse this includes it in the Search box, type System, and then click System in the programs list.
The operating system is displayed as follows:
· For a 32 - bit version operating system, 32-bit operating system appears for the system type under System.
· For a 64 - bit version operating system, 64-bit operating system appears for the system type under System.
After you determine which version of Windows Vista, your computer is running, download system update readiness tool.
Resolution 3: Close or disable any applications that may be running, restart the computer and then install the service pack
- Close all applications and restart your computer.
- Once your computer has restarted, disable any antivirus or any antispyware application that can load during the startup process. You can normally disable the notification area application. This area is located in the bottom right corner of the computer screen. To disable an application in the notification area, follow these steps:
- Right-click the icon of the third-party program.
- Click Close, disable, outputor an equivalent term in the list of options. If these options are not available, you may open the application and then close or disable in the application.
- As soon as you close the antivirus or the antispyware software, try to install the download package full of the service pack that you previously downloaded from the following Microsoft Download Center Web site:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads)
- After completing the installation of the service pack, enable the antivirus or the antispyware software that you disabled in the previous steps.

Windows Update that affect Internet for Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 connectivity
Hi, I have two machines in one desktop running Vista Home Premium and a laptop running under windows 7.
After you apply the Windows updates a few days ago, I was not able to get internet connectivity using my Vista desktop computer.
I was able to get a wireless on the Windows 7 machine, but to test the router I disabled wireless and tried a wired connection and it did not work.
If I restore the installation of updates on both machines before the problem no longer exists, but it is clearly not a solution.
Can someone please help, note that I have established that the router works and all the cables are OK. Thank you.
I had a very similar experience. See the thread I posted and a solution I found:
I'd be interested to know if the solution worked for you.-ONE -
Not to say could not upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional
I pre-ordered Windows 7 months with no indication that I couldn't switch from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional without performing a new installation. Now I learn that I have to re - install all THE programs, once I have perform this upgrade / 'clean install '. All the criticism of Windows Vista pales in comparison to my irritation at says this news AFTER the purchase, and not before. Failure of the installation of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to note any problem. All previous Windows upgrades went flawless. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed by this turn events and we hope that Microsoft will improve its pre-purchase counseling in the future.
I guess I have no choice now but to do a clean install of Windows 7 and then reinstall on my computer that will put me out of use for a long period of time? I backed up the entire hard drive before trying to install, but I doubt I can get by simply restoring this backup. Is this correct?
Hi pwcushman,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.
Windows Live OneCare Backup works in stages. You start by setting up how you want Backup to run and save the configuration. The backup will then run according to schedule and backup your files according to the saved configuration. You can make changes to this list or add other files and folders.
You can restore all files and folders, but you will have to reinstall all the programs.

If you have already run the Fixit from the link, then try the manual steps to change the registry settings and check if it helps.
