Why isn't suddenly deleted files is no longer testify in Trash like they used to do

This morning I deleted an e-mail and then realized I needed some information from it. I naturally expect to end up in the trash, as always, but when I open the trash can none of my deleted files are there. I don't have a "blank out" together. I use Thunderbird 31.4, on Windows 7 Professional. I rebooted both Thunderbird and Windows, to no avail. I have not changed my account settings or options. This has not happened before. Any help would be welcome.

Thank you for all your efforts. As I said, I'm afraid the first link leads to an element in Swedish (I think), which was just a single line and not recognizable as something I knew. Your second link leads to an article in English (thanks) and has shown a page of "settings". I put no parameters of "Empty on exit", or something similar, which could have been what you were suggesting that I look at.

Since then, as announced, I did an uninstall and reinstall and now all is well. I can only assume that Thunderbird somehow became corrupted. Otherwise, it's a mystery. Still a bit of an annoyance if, as I do not do not know why things happen.

Thank you once again.

  • Why delete files taking so long in Windows 7?

I am running windows 7 64 bit on a high-end computer mind nine 8 GB RAm still deleting files takes forever. for example I'm deleting 258 files in a directory as we speak - total size of all files in 458kb (Yes half a megabyte) and windows tells me that it'll take 8 minutes to do! Surely, it should be almost instant? How can I speed up the deletions of files?

copy of the files also takes an age and makes the system almost unusable.

    Philippe

It seems slow.  If you are used to use disks formatted FAT32, the stronger NTFS takes significantly longer because it does synchronously things that FAT32 things are started and left under the assumption that they will still complete successfully; and unfortunately that can sometimes cause problems.

In addition to the suggestion of Ken Blake to find malware, I suggest that you check the installed utilities.  If you have one installed real-time backup programs, some of them can do a real job on the performance.  Try to start safe mode and try some of your slow deletions or copies.  Concerning copies, your antivirus program may cause a big performance hit because they verify each file as it is copied.  Temporarily disable your antivirus can greatly improve speed in many cases.  One thing you might want to try is DEFRAG if you haven't done so recently.  Modern versions of Windows generally do this automatically, but sometimes doing a DEFRAG manual can help.

Good luck.  I hope this helps.

I had this problem since the new update of Adobe is out. Does anyone know how to remove PDFs with an error like this? I disabled the preview pane, the files of the drugs in the trash and cursed on my PC. Nothing has worked so far.

Thanks for the quick response. After Googling a bit I found this: Windows 8 Tip: how to delete a PDF file without throw your computer Out The Window. NEW YORK. • deleted files are not going in the trash

When I delete a file, it is removed immediately after a warning message. Deleting the file just put it in the trash. I reinstalled the OS X El Capitan, but which is not fixed. I cannot find any setting that would cause this to happen. Any ideas?

    Hi Holly:

Try to open finder > finder Preferences > Advanced Tag and make sure "Show warning before emptying the trash" is checked.

    I also found this:

  • El Capitan: Conflict of file Finder? Suddenly deleted files

It happened now on three different occasions: I did nothing in particular on my Macbook Pro (El Capitan 10.11.5; 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256 GB DDR) in collaboration with some files in a folder, when suddenly the folder containing these files was empty.

For example once I was renaming a folder and then open it and print a pdf in this folder. After successfully printing file, I closed and switched back to Finder - to meet the folder above to be empty and the file printed pdf just disappeared, as well as all the other files which are used to be in this folder. Then I noticed that the folder was suddenly his previous name (one than what it used to be before I changed it). I found the files missing in the trash and lost in the folder files superior (to the strange abnormal behavior) with 'conflict' and a long series of numbers preceding its actual file name.

More tips: the first two times it happened, was when I had open Parallels running Windows 10. The third time, Parallels did NOT work.

I couldn't find someone who described such behavior, the web or on Apple's site to research. What is wrong and, above all, how can I stop this behavior?

Your car could be at fault. Avoid any race condition that you can induce the wise software you use that would result in the disappearance of files.

  • Why isn't my deleted messages not in trash

When I delete my email as it does not appear in the Recycle Bin, in fact I see nothing in the tray

The Recycle Bin is a feature of Windows.  Elements deleted in the mail in general are in the email program itself because the messages are not usually the objects of the Windows file system.  E-mail programs usually have their own equivalent of the trash, often referred to as 'deleted items '.

  • Can't see the deleted files in several readers...

In the Recycle bin that I am not files deleted from the c drive.

    I also have a D & E partition.

If I delete a file on the c drive... I can see it in the trash.  However, if I delete a file in the drive D or E, although it is there I don't see.

While in the trash, I click on cancel delete, the file goes back to it original, even if you do not see.  If I click on delete all files, it will say, for example, you want to remove all 20 files, while showing only say 3 coming from the C drive.

No idea why the D & E deleted files will not show?

Is there a trash Global who manages the tray?

Additional, I read that Windows 7 can show now files network deleted to the trash... anyone know of a way to do it.  When you delete files that is, let's...

    Thank you

Other readers recycling bins are in the hidden system folders (if you need to go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / View and check the option Show hidden files and also check the option to display system files). Once exposed, you will be able to see the separate baskets.  This is the case for Vista - I "m not sure how it works in Windows 7.

  • My Recycle Bin does not work. Deleted files are not stored in the Recycle Bin.

My Recycle Bin does not work. Deleted files are not stored in the Recycle Bin.
When I delete a file, none of these files are saved in the Recycle Bin.

tried to restore desktop icons. no use.

Tried to change the icons as method 2. Yet, my deleted files are not saved in the trash.

    My last bag of stuff.
I assume that your allotted basket size is too small or you were not "empty" the collector for a LONG time.

Right click on the Recycle Bin > properties > size under Custom, how many MBs are awarded?
Mine is 1023 MB. I saw someone almost 5000 MB.

Increase size, play with the numbers until the darn bac actually works the way it should be.
Please post back. I'm curious to know the result.

There are video files in my Windows Media Player library that I deleted, but items still appear in my video library.  When I right click on the file and choose 'Remove', nothing happens.  The video files were originally in the folder my music and I deleted them using the Explorer.  However, they still appear in the Media Player library (even if they are not functional - because I have deleted!).  I followed what Umesh suggested GregRN, but that doesn't seem to work for me.  How can I get rid of deleted files appear in the Media Player library?   I use a HP Pavilion dv4 using Windows 7 (64-bit).

  • Deleted files show is not in the Recycle Bin

When I include a network folder in windows 7 or modify the 'Documents' target the destination to a network in XP folder... deleted files do not appear in the trash... This can be corrected?

Unfortunately, this is the way Windows has always worked and the behavior is not editable.

  • Recover deleted files from external HDD in Windows 8

I accidentally deleted files from my external hard drive using SHIFT + DELETE. I use Windows 8. Deleted files is not displayed in the trash. Is there a way I can recover these files?

External drives do not place their deleted files in a basket, they are removed immediately and simply disappear.

Keep off the drive and try these recovery software and the attempt to recover lost data.

    Data recovery.

The first link is free, others are free to try before buy you.  The last two are a bit better in my opinion.
