Why my emails come as attachments?

yesterday all my emails started coming as attachemtns instead of in the body of emails... How can I solve this?  I have windows live mail... its not coming in my Hotmail than windos from just live, which is my work email...

If you are facing the issue only with Windows live mail, so I suggest you to repair Windows live mail.

Please follow the steps below on how to repair Windows Live Mail:

1. go in Control Panel.
2. under programs, click on uninstall a program.
3. locate Windows Live essential then click on Uninstall/change.
4. when a window opens, select repair all Windows Live programs.
5 restart your computer after the repair.

Alternatively, you can follow the steps below:
1. in the folders pane, locate C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Installer there is a repair utility.
2. run the file wlarp.exe .
3. click on repair all Windows Live programs.
4. follow the on-screen instructions to repair the Windows Live program.

    Often, I receive an e-mail with a document to open or be ownloaded d. I use the new program area of Comcast .net receive on Vista. Comcast said it was a Microsoft problem. The document said that usually it's a Word 2007 Document allowing macros. When I hit open, it opens a window and save in a file.     Need a program on your system that can read Word documents.  You have MS Word/Office or the free Word Viewer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac&displaylang=en or the free OpenOffice www.openoffice.org (that I recommend in your current situation if you do not have Word/Office) or something else that does the job (but you must be SURE he can read Word 2007 documents allowing macro.)  Earlier versions of Word or Word Viewer (or same OpenOffice) might have problems with such a document unless they have been updated to handle the new format (and can be done at the center of technical support of Microsoft Office or by downloading the latest versions of OpenOffice or Word Viewer).  Once installed, then you can then read attachments and Word documents.  Try to open attachments again.

    Maybe there is a problem with the associations.  Double-click on any Word on your system (probably one in Documents or on your desktop) and see if it opens Word and displays the document.  In fact, try to open the saved file to see if you can.  If so, then the associations work and which is not the problem.  If no, go to Start/Default / programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / search .doc and check the default program - is probably not Word.  Click on edit, then select Word.  If Word is not an option, click Browse and locate the file winword.exe (somewhere in Program Files) and make it the default.  Do the same for .docx and .rtf (and any other type of file that Word to open).  Then try to open the attachment again (you may need to reboot for changes to take effect).

    If this does not work and you have the right programs so I am sorry to say that the problem is probably with the e-mail program and not with Microsoft (Word or Vista) - despite what you have been told by comcast.  Try using Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail like e-mail software to see if you can get your email and download attachments of one of these programs.  It shouldn't be too difficult to implement one of them (Microsoft Live Mail is a little better, but it must be downloaded while Microsoft Mail is already installed) - parameters should be essentially the same that you use for your comcast mail (you may need to go into the settings of mail to comcast to get them because they probably put in place for you and you don't know them).  If you can get Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail to send and receive email, and then send yourself a Word attachment and then when you receive it see if you can open it.  If you can, then the problem is certainly their e-mail software (and you can prove to them telling them that it works with Microsoft Mail or Windows Live Mail).

    A work around until the problem is resolved, just save attachments and then open documents saved - at least you will be able to access the information in this way until common sense is fixed.

  • Why my emails are threaded even though my tri is set to not threaded?

    My view > sort by > is Unthreaded, yet when I mark an email as "Read" it marks randomly as other messages to read that I have not really read yet. No, I don't have the addons for the filtering of conversations. Yes, I've read this Q & A https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/989629?esab=a & as = aaq response which says that even if the right click list drop-down Mark > as read option shows the 'R' stressed to use 'R' to mark a message as read, 'R' will mark the entire thread as read. My question is, how can he score 'a thread"Red when a thread does not exist since sorting by vision is defined as non-threaded? I am grateful for the suggestion to use'm ' to switch between read and unread on a single message, status because it does not have to mark a single message as read! However, in every other sense messages are always treated as they pass even if I put the view > sort by > as Unthreaded. Is there ANY other way to disable thread outside the view > sort by options? Or at least change the way Thunderbird put together topics of conversation?

    When an email is created a reference is given by its creator, that that Thunderbird, Gmail or Outlook. This reference is supposed to be unique in the world, or nearby value. Most of the things nowadays use GUIDS but mail really precedes this concept, so old messages requires only a reference. Gmail has put references that look like this in my mail

    It is this reference which is the base of the thread. Who and when I click to answer or forward, another header is added

    In this example, there are two previous E-mail listed in the references.

    When Thunderbird Threads of this mail, it takes three values and looking in the mailbox for other messages with these three entries, because they a related danger one is the message that was sent and the following two are responded and returned again to the answers.

    Now, we get to the really unfortunate part of the process. Most web developers know squat about electronic mail; The same can be said of more general developers, but they continue to get the specifications for programs send a mail and they do horribly wrong. Often they copy a bit badly written JavaScript and paste it into a web page and the e-mail box. Worse still is the weekend hacker who develops a nice web page for the butcher, hairdresser (fill in business here) and copies all sorts of poorly written but functional JavaScript into the pot.

    But I can send with only one attachment. Are there other options which i it allows to send with multiple attachments.

    If you don't see all the toolbars allow them:

    Click on the 3 bars menu icon
    Place the cursor on the 'Options '.
    Make sure all the toolbars are enabled because this makes life so much easier.

    Tools > Options > advanced > tab reading and display
    I love having my messages ranging from "BOLD" to unbold immediately when I select to read.

    I suggest you try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Start your system in safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

    While in the Inbox: view | Current view. Make sure show all Messages is the only option that is checked.

    I've actually seen that happen to hit the pavement sliding on the laptop. To test, try using an external keyboard and see if it happens. Personally, I always cut glide pads that I have the same kind of questions when you type :-)

    I am trying to change a body of the email when sending (after clicking on send, before turning off). I have everything working, but when I modufy the body, I lose attachments.

    Two problems solved here, hope this is useful to someone else:

    (1) my solution for adding text on the body of an email without affecting attachments:

    (2) Message.setContent (Object) does NOT erase the existing objects, what drives them. This explains my 'setContent (null) ".

    (3) If you just do a setContent (...) on a Multipart, you will lose your attachments... VERY STRANGE seen #2, huh? I repeated this hundreds of times... maybe a bug...

    (4) the name of temporary file I received (e.g., SU1289433050093.tmp) is the name of the image resized file. You know how BB asks if you want to send the original or a smaller version? That!. I don't know how solve this one, so it's going to be a low-pri bug for now...

    For Windows Live Mail, go to C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail, right-click on the folder and select Properties.

    You may need to show hidden files. Type the Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select view advanced settings and check that the box "display files and folders" and 'Hide protected operating system files' are not checked. You may need to scroll down to see the second element. You should also make sure that the box before "Hide extensions of known file types" is not checked.

    I don't know about Chrome.
