Why my PC slow down to a crawl when VMware Player is the suspension to the .vmem file?

My PC becomes almost unusable when VMware Player prepares his State record to .vmem file. VMware Player is delegate the task to C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe process. When we look in the Manager tasks, I see that the CPU usage is just 5.10% and the memory usage is around 40%, which is normal for me. When I open resource monitor, I see that ntoskrnl.exe is written extensively to the VMware .vmem file. From writing to the disk stops, my PC immediately snaps back to normal.

I scanned the disc for errors and the performance issues with HDTune, I tested the RAM with memtest. Everything is normal, no errors, drive performance is approximately 110 MB/s. I have antivirus (Avira free) and I don't know that there is a legitimate ntoskrnl.exe Windows process. With the exception of this problem, my PC worked rock stable for three years.

Why write on a hard drive that is not my OS drive affects the overall performance of a PC so and what can do to solve the problem? Also I don't understand, why suspending the hard .vmem file so long?

My virtual machine has 8 Windows as a guest operating system. It has 4 GB of RAM. After I suspend the virtual machine, my host PC is trolling for about 10-15 minutes which seems far too long a little writing 4 GB of memory to the .vmem file status. I also tried VM VirtualBox with the same guest OS and 4 GB of RAM and it suspends a lot sooner and don't drag my PC after that. Also if I move the files in Windows Explorer on the same drive, it has this issue. It seems so VMware Player or ntoskrnl.exe is something too aggressive.

Here are the specs of my host computer:

CPU: Intel i3 2120

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H67A-USB3-B3

RAM: 8GB

Hard disks:

OS and system disk - Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120 GB, connected to internal SATA3 port

Data disk (which causes the slowdowns): Seagate ST31000528AS 1000 GB, connected to internal SATA3 port

OS: Windows 7 64 bit Professional with SP1, updated regularly

With the virtual machine off (non-suspended), try adding the following configuration option to the .vmx file:

mainMem.writeZeroes = TRUE

  • Why my internet slow down to one analysis when it should be faster?

I have 12 mb internet but im only get around 3 mb down load speed... why?

Could be one of many things:

    1. what type of connection do you have?

If the optical fiber, you should get the max of the link more closely, but with ADSL (supplied on a pair of copper wires), it can vary enormously according to the length of the line. For example, I tried "up to 24 M" on a pair of copper, but due to a very long line of the Exchange, I had only actually about 6 M.

So what type of internet connection you have? And if his livery on standard cables, how long your line is?

    2. its possible, it's a malware problem, but if there are no other symptoms, unlikely. However, it doesn't take long to download, install, update (updated by right-clicking on its icon and 'run as administrator' then go to the update tab) and run a scan with Malwarebytes free to check. It don't take long and it's free.

    3. you can do a speedtest here http://www.speedtest.net/ try speedtests running throughout the day at different times (and if possible during the night) for a few days. This verifies that the D/L speed is several times. The other speed probem is the congestion on the internet or your local connection (not yours but your access provider) PSI can also 'Butterfly' test traffic and running in peak and off peak periods should show if it happens. In this case, contact your provider. that is, if during the day 9-11 and 14:00 - 17:00 say you get 3 m, but during the night between 22:30 and 04:30, you get 9 M, then its likely to be congestion.

    4. If you think that your PC is at fault, you can then ask a friend to upgrade their PC around temp connect via your boradband and run a speedtest to see what brings?

  • Firefox slows down to a crawl while the sync of bookmarks

Whenever I add, modify, move, or delete a bookmark, Firefox slows down to a crawl for a few seconds, whereas Sync does its thing. I know that Sync is the question because I added the sync icon to the toolbar and see it light up and spin and Firefox is unusable whenever I have change a bookmark. This is probably because I have a ridiculous number of bookmarks: probably in the range of 10-20 000.

Despite these problems, Sync did a good job of synchronizing bookmarks between my computer and makes it easier for me to finish my work, so I would like to continue using it. My bookmarks file acts as a search engine mini for the things that I found useful/interesting. deletion of bookmarks or using a very stripped down bookmarks file really does not solve my problem here.

I already googled until exhaustion, and set services.sync.autoconnect to false in: config, but that didn't seem to do anything. This solution might work but is not very handy: http://superuser.com/a/818726/362951

Is it possible I can turn off Auto-Sync synchronization after each change bookmark? I'd like to be able to synchronize ONLY when I click the 'Sync' button in my toolbar in FF.

Sync chooses when synchronize based on a combination of the last hour of synchronization and the amount of change that has occurred. You can actually turn off the synchronization (except you can still manually synchronize) by changing these values.

    1. go into "subject: config.

    2. Enter "services.sync.syncInterval" in the search box. It's the amount of time (in 1/1000 of a second) that synchronize waits between synchronizations. If you want to sync never synchronize after a while, change for something big like '999999999999999999999999 '.

    3. Enter "services.sync.syncThreshold" in the search box. It is the amount of change that must take place between synchronizations. 300 represents a bookmark and is also the default, so by default, sync will sync whenever you add a bookmark. If you want to synchronize only after 2 bookmarks, change it to 600, etc.. If you want to never synchronize, also change it for a very large number.

Note: there is always a possibility sync may synchronize automatically some time, but it is extremely rare.

Why my PC slow down after loading of Norton Internet security 2012

Because Norton is a Devourer of resources. I would say deleting and using a user-friendly program over Windows.

Norton and McAfee are the two least friendly Windows security and swine resource to start programs. My ISP offers the McAfee security suite for free and I refuse to use it.

I used to use Avast in conjunction with Windows Defender, (still a decent option), but since MSE became of age, I have used which. MSE is an anti-virus, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware program all in one. IMO, it is a program MS got it wrong. And all of these options are freeware.

If you choose to give it a try, download and save the MSE. Remove Norton and install MSE.

  • Why my computer slows down

09 August to the a few weeks ago, I had a modem for internet on my computer. As we know, dialup is very slow. But a few weeks ago I had my digital internet on and things have accelerated. But I'm having a problem with some Web pages. It seems that whenever I try to open more than 1 page, or I come to a page that has a lot of objects in motion on it, everything slows to a crawl. I used to now have this problem when I had internet faster before. I downloaded the latest versions of Adobe Flash player, shockwave last, more recent readers Real and Quicktime, and yet my computer slows down. I need to update any other thing or what? Or I did my updates get corrupted when I had access to remote and if yes, how to say? Thank you

    Hi miles,

I want to start by saying that all the options of the Internet high speed are not equal. You could see the right speed for the connection you have.

But... There are a few things we can look at to make sure that your system runs as quickly as possible. Your system seems to work "eye catching" or "flange" in its use of local emissions? :-)

Let start by resetting IE to default values and to see where we are.

Close IE, print or copy these suggestions...
Click on START and type > Internet options > press enter
On the general tab, click on delete... > default options should be good for this. Click on delete.
When you are finished, click the Advanced tab. Under reset Internet Explorer settings section, press the Reset... button.
In the tab programs, click on Manage Add-ons
Disable toolbars like MSN or Google. Toolbars are known to cause problems.

Launch IE and give it a go and let us know what happens. Mark <> Microsoft Partner

  • Mouse on movieclips a lot slows down to a crawl

I have a system where hundreds of similar clips ('parts') can be dragged around in a region ('dragArea') of the mouse. I have performance problems.

When you start to drag a piece, it jumps to the top of the depths, it seems above all others. All parts are dynamically created with createEmptyMovieClip. They are all attached to the dragArea.

My problem is that the movement is very slow. The slipped part updates of position very rarely; only when you stop moving the mouse. I think it's just because I have so many movieclips, but if I attach one of the pieces to _root and drag, then, he hangs out very quickly. That is, if I drag the outside of dragArea, then it is fast. But as soon as I have move it on dragArea, then it becomes slow.

This suggests that the Flash made some redraw complex when I drag a piece on dragArea. I've tried to set cacheAsBitmap to true for dragArea, but that has no effect.

I also tried to reduce the number of parts one or two. This makes everything fast again.

Does anyone know why it would become very slow when you drag a piece on dragArea that contains many other parts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

have you tried upateAfterEvent while dragging?
a lot of times that softens the considerbly of animation...

could it be that his calulating too deep because of all the other parts?
maybe try to set the depth of 0 (zero) for the dragged object, instead of getNextHighestDepth...
If that's what you do... =)

  • First to slow down to a crawl

    Hello world

I work with Premiere Pro CS6 and I noticed that things go along very well in the beginning, but when I get to about 15 minutes in the slowdown starts the sequence of things a lot of time. When I move the playhead, it takes a minute or two for the preview to catch up. It also takes time to load the text box. This is my workflow very slow. I also get the images full screen red, glitches and make mistakes. I have more than 16 GB of RAM at any given time and we are working on a RAID with fiberjet. This should be enough right? We work with. The MTS files and I apply a key and perhaps another effect and a few pictures along the way. I absolutely love the dynamic link feature, but I stopped using it because it seems to create more problems. For awhile I was completely with the key in the AE and import them with the alpha, but which did not help much either. My department wants to swtich to Final Cut, but I would really like to find this work because I like the look and feel of first and the capabilities that it a. I also was clear cache files and noticed from time to time. Also, we do not have the mercury playback engine, but we hope to get it later this year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Tracy

    Welcome to the forum.

    Some things to consider:

    1. Make sure that your MTS files are copied from the camera card to a hard drive with the structure of the intact unit records.  Then use the Pr media browser to find, preview, and import the images.  Red images indicates dropped frames, so unless the camera images are really corrupt, they indicate a bottleneck somewhere in the pipeline of the import/reading.  An example would be if you tried to edit using the files directly from the memory card.
    2. What is your Mac CPU (I assume that Mac because you mentioned that Final Cut)?  The MTS files are probably AVCHD and are notoriously difficult to decode on the fly, unless your CPU is strong enough - as a quad-core i7 type hyperthreading.
    3. More Mac stuff - Quicktime is always 32-bit, but Adobe has some QT importers custom 64-bit.  The problem is that if the codec in the MOV file is not one of those who has a custom matching importer, Pr falls in QTs 32 bits architecture.  This could be a problem depending on the codec you chose during the export of the AE.

  • MacBook Pro slows down to a halt when plugged via magsafe.

    Hey guys.

I had this strange problem lately, which started about 2 weeks ago.

My Macbook Pro works perfectly as it is not plugged into the magsafe adapter.

At the time wherever he is plugged in, it slows down to almost a halt with hiccups etc beach ball. From the MBP place goes from 15 to 20 seconds (unplugged) to 3-5 minutes (connected with magsafe)

Now, I thought initially it was a hardware problem, but then I did a complete reformat and reinstall:

I actually did 3 reformats full (the first two I have zero'ed my data) AND reset the SMC and the PRAM twice:

The first reformat and reinstall brought back my MBP of El capitan to Snow Leopard. Meanwhile, first to reformat and reinstall the system, it may have showed signs of it still be afflicted by this slowness and beach ball gasp he showed before the reformat and reinstall. I kept the first reformat and reinstall for maybe 30 minutes in which I decided to reformat and reinstall once again, that I did not like the name of the Home folder.

The second reformat and reinstall, I did notice one problem with the system, in fact it was running flawless both disconnected and connected via magsafe. I pulled up to the PS4 and played a few BF4 while I downloaded and reinstalled all the updates, then I upgraded to El Capitan. After all was said and done, I was reading how you can do a clean install of El Capitan via a USB port. I wanted to try this, so I downloaded a copy of El Capitan to a USB stick with the manufacturer of disc X and a then reformat (no zero out as starting program with El Capitan does not have it), and did a clean install of El Capitan.

I didn't restore from back up or anything, the only thing I did was download all my iCloud data, like photos and songs etc. My system worked perfectly for about a week since the reformatting and reinstalling. He had no problem with the connected system or not.

Now, a week later, the same problem slipped immediately came out of nowhere and the system works like crap when it is plugged. It takes 3-5 minutes to start, instead of 15 to 20 seconds when it is not plugged in. Also keep in mind, this is a new reinstall where I don't have any what garbage on my system. I didn't yet to reinstall all the games on my MBP, or anything like that, and in my opinion, this is one very bare reinstall OS. The total memory used is like 150 concerts against 350 before my first reformat and reinstall.

So, I'm to the point where I'm racking my brain trying to figure out whether it is a hardware problem. Since the system ran a good week without this post question reformat and reinstall, it makes me doubt that it is a hardware problem. But on the flip side, since I did a reformat and reinstall, it can't be a problem of software either, especially since I didn't install anything the night before this problem appeared.

My only hope to address this problem is I hope one of you had the same problem and have a solution. If not, it seems that I might need to get a new MBP this fall, which would be a shame this system ran flawlessly and fluidly before this annoying problem.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Since you mentioned the snow leopard, I understand that the MBP is an older model (2009 or almost?)... What is the status of the battery? https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201585

  • «Ms Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 v1.0: "Down arrow" key release when button "ARROW on the left «»

I've had this keyboard for several years and it works very well, but there was a problem with what I was never able to solve.
My arrow "to" doesn't work when I press the 'left' arrow key  If I am now the 'left' arrow key and then press the 'down' arrow key, it does nothing either.

It is not a problem except when I use the arrow keys to move an avatar in a game (especially shooters).  This does not happen to the direction keys on the numeric keypad, just the main arrows.  For an example of game, I'm able to move in all directions except diagonal-left-down, and I can't share 'left' to 'down' without a full version of 'left '.

I even coded a sample program to print text down button is broadcast with an keyReleased() event.  It goes off when I press the arrow key to the left and also when I actually release the arrow key down.  So if I press key, then the left key, then release button, I get it two times in a row, but if I press the left key only, it does not print the text, and if I press and release the button by holding the left button down while it ALSO does not print.  If the key is completely overridden by the left arrow.

What the heck!  I have the latest drivers, so is this material instead?  This isn't a new problem, so I don't think it's dirt either (especially since its spill resistant), but I don't know what I can do about it at this stage.

    Hello

Have you tried to completely uninstall the drivers and then by downloading and installing drivers from the manufacturer's website?

You can check the link mentioned below to do the same thing:

  • Why readyboost makes slow down my laptop rather than speed it up?

I am running Windows7 in a new laptop that I just bought. I tried the readyboost with a 4 GB memory card high speed, but it just slowed me after a few minutes of use. I also tried readyboost in my old PC that was running Windows Vista, it also slowed to a crawl and then frozen. If this was designed to speed up my PC it's does not work!

If you have more than 2 GB of RAM, so there is absolutely NO reason at all using readyboost - you won't see one iota of difference...

ReadyBoost is designed to allow computers with 1 GB of RAM or less to run Windows 7 at a reasonable speed.

I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that your new computer with Windows 7 has less than 2 GB of RAM...
