Why Thunderbird refuses my password?

When I try to log on to my email account, I get the message that my password is not authenticated. This has happened for 5 days and I tried several times to receive information from you to reset the password, but it never happens in email as the message suggests it will be. I tried to change the password, but no change in my problem

Tools > Options > Security > passwords tab
Click on 'Saved password'
Click "Show passwords"

There will be two lines - mailbox (inbound), smtp (outgoing)
highlight these lines
Click 'delete '.
Click "close".
Click ok to save the changes to the options.

Close and reopen Thunderbird.
It will prompt for the password.
Enter the same password that gives you access to the webmail account.
Select Password Manager remember the password and click ok.

    Menu (alt + T) tools > options > Security > password > saved passwords and check the password isn't really there. I think it will be.

    Your description is classic anti virus ruin of behavior. Disable e-mail scanning in anti virus and see how you go. If you have Norton or another product with some form of password vault., disable this feature as well.

    I had put Tbird in place to always ask for a password for each account. That's always good. I could get into my gmail accounts by entering a password every time. My passwords on Tbird have not been registered. A couple of days, I had to reinstall Tbird after a computer problem. I logged into my gmail account and said not to save the password. When I logged on today it cowardly to remember passwords. I deleted them. When it tried to access accounts instead of simply ask a password he has known a rigmarole of 'connection via the gmail account' and I had confirm that Tbird is allowed to access gmail. An extra step every time, boring, but not terminal. BUT Tbird and then SAVES PASSWORDS, leaving my email accounts exposed, it's much more serious. I tried to remove the passwords, but then we went through the whole process and he did save yet. I don't want to add one master password (yet another thing to forget). I don't want Tbird automatically connect to each account every time that I load it. I DON'T want to control what he reads, and when he reads. What can I do to return to the configuration of the old?

    Since the version of Thunderbird 38 uses OAuth2 for authentication of Gmail accounts. It is the only way to be considered "safe" by Google.

    Basically, you authenticate with your Gmail account, once, and Google provides you with an authentication token. That's what Thunderbird records under "password". It is not your Gmail password. The token will expire at some point, you will need to again in the future.

    If you want to revert to the old behavior allows Google you jump through some hoops.
    You must allow 'less safe apps' in Google, or turn your settings on 2 stages of authentication in the context of a specific application password.

    In Thunderbird, account settings change "authentication type" "normal password" for your Gmail account.

    I use Thunderbird on Win 8.1 with master password password manager. I'm also under Lightning and provider for Google Calendar. I get 3 calendars of mine over a few general calendars. When I run Thunderbird I sign on 6 times. It sounds ridiculous. Why have a master password if other add-0ns cannot use it?

    It should be a simple matter to define an indicator if the user has entered a master password. If the flag is set, the Add-ons know they can use their passwords stored without worrying about the user.

    Re: version, I'm under 31.4. The week last, to try to see if the residue of prerequisites installs a TB prevention work properly, I have done a complete uninstall, restart, deleting all files of TB and profiles, another reboot then reinstall. I came back just as I mentioned in my original post. It has not been set

    This can happen if you're in private browsing mode.

    Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".
    • : Uncheck the [] "always use the private browsing mode.

    Just changed my macbook air account login user password and then iCloud began asking me to enter my new passwords, to continue to protect data stored in iCloud.  So this is something new, I've been using iCloud for several years and have not seen elsewhere.  Why my device user password account would need apple/icloud?  So I called applecare and they explained that it was because I had turned on to apple two factor authentication (should not be confused with two-step authentication).  They said apple cannot access my device passwords.   Guess we should just trust them.   It seems precarious to someone else?  Whenever I have change my device password I (we) have to give them to apple, if you want to use authentication in two steps.  Just a thought.

  • Why Dell refuse to help me?

    Hi, if anyone here can help me, then this post is blessed.

    I bought the XPS 15 9 months for the wife of the United States.

    Once I got it, I tried to turn it on and the computer didn't just turn. After contacting dell in Israel, told me that a tech guy contact me and will come to my place to fix the computer.

    Well, 3 of them came, 3 of them failed. I was told that I should get a new computer instead of what I bought and I have to call international dell for this.

    I called dell international and told me that I have an approval for a swap. (if someone from dell will ever read this, it's the code for approval: 130318212200, serial number: ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >)

    I bought my computer for more than 8 months, and again I do not have the swap. I'm stuck with a non-functional computer that collects dust and the money I spent on a computer that just works...

    My question to you guys is very simple, why dell refuse to provide the service on their product? they are waiting for my warranty expires? any who really care about these issues of customer or it's all about selling products and less worry how the products are really after the client has obtained?

    Really hope that this message will happen to someone in dell international and someone will actually help me next to say 'I'm sorry, there is not much I can do for you, you will have to wait for a long time. "

    Thanks for posting in the Forum of Care USA.

    Unfortunately, one of the problems with the purchase of a product in the USA and exporting abroad is that it violates the provisions of the purchase agreement.

    It seems that they were able to implement the service calls for you, but an Exchange would be finally sent to the original address in the United States, would be your responsibility to have shipped to your country.  The international warranty terms can be found here.

    When you select Get Messages
    The lower part of the left edge of the screen shows that it is connected to Virgin Media (SAY) - but crashes
    On checking passwords saved Tools - Options - Security - passwords-
    The box under the heading "the passwords for the following sites are stored on this computer" are EMPTY.
    I can fix it by restoring files to the root of C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ xxxxxx.default\ - excluding all subfolders,
    I've sorted it out yesterday by the first - restore files from 20th Jan. But to do so once more during the afternoon.
    It happened twice today - but I can't use Symantec Backup last night.
    I don't see why this is happening - although he did during my first attempt at writing this email.
    I, since then, turned off the server for the regular audit settings and download emails.

    Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

    If the safe mode for the operating system to resolve the problem, there are other software on your computer that is causing problems. The possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as updates of the program.

  • Why Thunderbird is puts some junk in the junk e-mail folder, but leaves others marked as spam in the Inbox (IE why incompatible)?

    I read the instructions under Mozilla based on Firebird training and set up a junk folder - DONE!
    But, while some junk goes in the folder junk e-mail, others remain in my Inbox marked as junk. Why? Is it in line, and some action is expected of me - or a flaw in the process?

    I don't have a real answer for you. But BT using Yahoo mail and my recent comments is Yahoo IMAP is in a world of its own when it comes to spam and marking mail as such. It moves e-mail and from the unwanted spam/e-mail folder with its own rules and that Thunderbird be damned. Oh one there is no way to turn their junk filtering.
