Why windows update keep saying I need to update after I already do?
I have my computer windows vista automatic update. Automatic Update keeps popping up and telling me I have new updates. I checked the update log and the same update has already been installed. Why the automatic update continues to inform me about these updates after that that they have been installed successfully?

original title: WHY Windows Update keep up to date USELESS of Windows Defender and installation USELESS malware remover?
I'm a computer technician who makes a TON of virus remove money from Windows computers. Two-thirds of my tasks of repair involving the elimination of viruses from Windows and trying to fix the Internet Explorer, the worst browser known to humanity.
I have a question about Windows Defender and the malicious software removal tool. These are two programs entirely worthless, evidenced by the fact that computers with them installed still get infected of all viruses, Trojan and rootkit out there. Clearly, if these two programs of malware Microsoft has done anything to protect your computer, it would have been without having to release still a THIRD tool antivirus, "security essentials" for Microsoft. I'm not complaining — the way Microsoft Windows absorbs malware like a sponge, put a lot of money in my bank account. Please keep doing what you're doing... however...
My question is, given that Windows Defender and the malicious software removal tool doing nothing to protect against malware, why Windows Update keep harassing upgrade us on a regular basis?
Windows defender is not an antivirus program, it is designed to protect against spyware.
If you don't like them, so do not use them.

I checked all of the updates and there is no... Why dose Firefox keep saying OPPPPPS well this is embarrassing, seems that your session broke down... Well I know not down because I close every time the right way to dose... Can someone tell me how to solve this problem... It's really annoying... Also, I tried each and everything I thought to try and nothing works...
Hello Marlin29, this is currently an issue in firefox when you close all firefox windows open first and then close the application subsequently - the bug should be addressed in a more recent version of firefox.
a workaround in the meantime, you could close firefox (via firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter: config in the firefox address bar (confirm the message information where it appears) & search preference named browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash. Double-click it and change its value to false.

It makes more sense. How to reset the Windows Update components?
Yet, as indicated in The ball , the search results links do not work. I also used several browsers and DuckDuckGo. Maybe it's because the Windows Update Agent was changed some time ago and the article is no longer valid.
EDIT: If the OP is also struggling to access the link I suggest using repair Windows updates available from tweaking.com. I suggest also using the Registry backup of the same author before hand.

Gettinng less updates to Windows Update after formatting Windows
Original title: problem with Windows Update after PC format
Hello, I have Windows 7 x 64 OEM and today I had to format 6 times my PC because of my graphics card.
Problem which is the 5th time that I formatted my PC, WU shows me less up to date than the first time. And in format 6, least of all day.
How can I solve this problem? Thnaks.
Hi Josele69,
Whenever you install a new update, it contains the updates released before. If you will get only the recent updates. When you run windows update, you also receive only for new updates when you're done with the updates offered. This might be a reason you found less updates after formatting windows.
For more information, see the links:

Hello
Often we see weird behavior as the result of a program of loading during the startup process.
To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.
The following article describes this process:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Please note that after refine us the cause, it is important that we return to a normal startup and manually delete the startup program.
We'll do this before uninstalling Service Pack 2.
If the behavior persists, then we can clean boot, uninstall and reinstall Service Pack 2.

I've had this problem for quite a while now, and I recently tried some suggestions from this forum to try to fix it. First I tried to copy some commands to the Notepad, saved and click with the right button on the shortcut and clicked on run as administrator and tried to download it again, and it still does not work. Then I tried to download them from the Web site, and that no longer works. I'm tired of seeing this happen.
The updates that fail to install are:
Microsoft Works 8
Update for Microsoft Works 8 KB977304 securityOffice 2007
Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 KB973593-security
Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System KB973704-security
Update for Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 KB976416
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter KB977719
Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 KB974561But have you tried any suggestions? You say you only tried a few suggestions.

Downloaded games-why Windows updates keep delete them?
Updates Windows 7 have removed 2 of my favorite old Games downloaded during the last three months. What can I do to prevent it happening again?
[Moved from comments]
Windows updates change only the files located in your \Windows (usually on drive C :) folder When you download your games, save them elsewhere and they will not be affected.

I have an almost brand new Mac 10.7.5. Downloaded Firefox very well. But a lot of pages (not all) gives me a popup saying that additional plugins are required to display all of the content. When I click on the "Install missing plugins" button, I get a window saying: "no appropriate plugin was found." Does this mean the popup saying I need a plugin is false, or what?
Your list of plugins does not display the Flash plugin, which is used by many Web sites, so perhaps it comes of this plugin.
You can check in tools > Modules > Plugins if it might be disabled.
Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.

Why Windows Update service does not work on my computer?
After a few months of not be used, my Toshiba Satellite L35 (Windows Vista Home Basic; Computer laptop Service Pack 2) can not access Microsoft Updates. Whenever I try, I get a message "the service is not running" and tells me to restart, I did several times without success. Norton 360, and Spybot, indicates no problems.
It's like something has removed or disconnected from all the Windows Update process. "Update history" produces a blank page.

It's like something has removed or disconnected from all the Windows Update process. "Update history" produces a blank page.
Suggestion 1: Get rid of Norton and Spybot Search and Destroy. I do not recommend Norton/McAfee products, especially the suites (I recommend NO suites - simple is better.) Spybot has been a good product, but a few years back, he just stopped doing as well.
Suggestion 2 (cumulative, not necessarily independent - but maybe): cleaning of your Windows Update stuff...
All the following items in the order shown - no matter what protection against that, you think you have.
Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
Reset.
Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update:
How to reset the Windows Update components?Reset.
Try to get updates.
If it still does not work, try this...
- Start an elevated command prompt.
- Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:
net stop wuauserv
CD %SystemRoot%\System32
Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
net start wuauserv - Reset
- Try to reinstall updates
* Important * When you do this, the following problems occur:
- Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
- When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.
- If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.
* Note * if the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can delete the directory SoftwareDistribution.old to recover disk space.STILL no?
Use this FixIt:

Save components WU:
- Start an elevated command prompt.
- Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:
regsvr32 Jscript.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dllReset.
Try updates.
If it still does not work after this - say parts of the former post once again (no need to conduct a new analysis of malware) from:
"Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update:

Back - let everyone know what is happening.
