Wich OS for a Satellite 1710CDS

Base Machine 600 Meghz Celron, 6 Gig HDD, Modem V90 internal, fixed 32 Meg RAM, a free location for a SODIMM PC100.

There a 64Meg paste in the 'free' current location. Most will have a 128Meg stick. So there now 96Meg RAM with a Max of 160 Meg of Ram.

Choice of operating system as the disc is clean and without media with the machine but a Win ME COA sticker on the base.

Position of Win ME June 2006 no. security patches, gets name to be Win9XX or a modern operating system. Works OK in 96 Meg RAM.

A better OS Win 2000, will work in 96 or 160 Meg RAM, updates of security until 2010. On this forum people have found all the required drivers for the hardware.

Win XP will start in 160 Meg RAM, hardware drivers probably available, will require disabled services and disk indexing turned off etc. I think it will be too slow with XP.

Did someone tried XP on such a machine. Anyone would push toward ME rather than 2000.

Bill

Hello

You are right about the OS for this device. It comes with Win ME. In my opinion you should install the operating system that is supported. On this way, you will be sure that it will work properly and solid. Check if all the required drivers are available on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU.

Good bye

  • Driver RAID WXP Neer and CISS for my Satellite C650 - 10K

Anyone know where I can find the driver Raid and CISS for my Satellite C650 - 10K?

    Hey Buddy,

Are you sure you need to RAID or SCSI (not SSCI) for Satellite C650 driver?
As far as I know this model doesn't support this type of material

I think that you need drivers for the SATA controller. This package is called Intel Storage Manager and can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba.

Here is an interesting article on installing XP with SATA drivers:

  • Additional fee for the Satellite C660-116 memory

    Hello

I would like to add to my Satellite C660-116, which has a memory 800 Mhz 1 GB installed DDR3 2 GB of additional memory. (Samsung M471B2873FHS-CH9, 204 pins SODIMM)

After consulting with several Internet sites it can a confusion now:

    Samsung 1 GB DDR3 10666 1333 MHz laptop memory
    Samsung 1 GB DDR3 10600 1333 MHz laptop memory

While the official website of Toshiba says 800 Mhz.

It was easire to find a DDR2 800 Mhz for a DDR3 at 800 Mhz, however, to get a DDR3 at 1333 MHz 2 GB is very simple and reasonable in cost.

Someone could say 2 GB memory which would be the best to buy (a 204-pin SoDIMM DDR2 800 Mhz) or a DDR3 1333 Mhz or something else?
    Thank you

Toshiba recommends the use of the module of RAM 2 GB compatible with PA3676U-1M2G part number.
This memory has been tested and works perfectly.

If you want to have high quality I recommend you use Kingston RAM compatible RAM for your Satellite is KTT1066D3 / 2G.

Check the two modules and compare the price. Always is it that both of them are high quality products, and you will have no problems using one of them.

By the way: your laptop can be upgraded up to 4 GB so I think you must be upgraded to the maximum level.

  • Need to get software for old Satellite 1410-604

    Hello

I'm looking for the original software for my Satellite S1410-604 because:
now, I work with w7, but I'm not satisfaction in this regard. I want a lot
back to the standard software on this laptop win xp.

Can someone help me with this?

This Satellite is very old, then you will not be able to order it directly by Toshiba.
What you can try is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider in your country. Maybe they have some local archives with the old recovery disks and you can get a copy.

Otherwise, you must install the clean version of Windows XP Home edition. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download from the Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

    Hello

    Satellite L300 supports SATA HDD!

  • Power adapter for Toshiba Satellite M40X 129

    Hello guys,.
hope this is the right forum to post my question in:

I have a Toshiba Satellite M40X 129 (model No.: PSM4XE-01600CGR). My adapter is buggered so I need to get a new one. Bought the machine in Germany, now am in Tasmania / Australia. Being in a camp of the Valley remote until April, I won´t be able to go into a store with my laptop to try and understand, that the AC adapter / CC is suitable. We have internet here as our only communication, it is very important for me that sort.

Can someone tell me, what type of adapter / power supply is planned or where to look?

    The one I ve been before is a LITEON, part No.: PA3432U-1AC3, model n °: PA-1750-09, input: 100-240V, 50-60 Hz, 1. 5 a, output: 19V, 3. 95 a.

Thanks for your help and have a nice day
    Peter

    Adapters for your Satellite are:
    PA3432U-1ACA
    PA3432U-1AC3
    PA3432C-1AC3.

Put this number in Google and you will find very precise specifications.

By the way: If you already have the old adapter specifications I put t understand why you need some additional info. If there is no possibility to buy again until April, how do you get a new one?
    Sorry, but I m confused.
