Win XP computer locks with administrator

Hi all

I have a bit of a problem, we have a network and AD installed a week, to the end, some people facing a problem is that they are working on something and computer suddenly decides to logg off the coast of the user and lock the computer with the administrator and they're sitting there watching all their all the hardwork go far closing programs and they are unable to do anything.

We have Enterprise edition Macfee which update every night and I planned a full scan of the computer, even after complete scanning macfee is unabel to find viruses do not know what to do

Help, please

Hello lahoree.

I would check to see if any logoff script is currently running on Windows XP clients. Then check the event log to see if something is listed there during the time the user is disconnected. You can configure auditing to log out.

However, since you are in a domain environment, it would be better to post in the forum TechNet for ITPRO.

For Windows XP clients, use the link below:
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itproxpsp/threads

Or you can post in the Windows Server forum.
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winserverManagement/threads

I hope this helps.

Anyone know how to solve my problem? I can't import my photos from Iphone to computer. Sign says: Photos in the camera cannot be imported because the IPhone is locked with a password or read. My phone is unlocked. I tried everything, every single idea. Without success! Any other idea?

For example, you specify that the device does not display the lock screen, correct? Do you use Touch IDS? If so, try to put your finger on the device to see if it's what he wants.

  • "iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes" AND "iTunes can not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password" error message on the phone and the computer! Help!

So I recently had my password wrong too many times and my iPhone 4S locked out telling me "iPhone is disabled; Connect to iTunes'. And so I connected to iTunes and decided to restore my phone. I finished the process of restoration of the configuration of my phone, but ultimately, it was not even let me in the phone! Once AGAIN he said "iPhone is disabled; " Connect " to iTunes '. However, this time, this message appeared just when I turned on my phone with a black background. I didn't scan the screen for the error message is displayed (and there was no time to be shown). When I tried to connect to iTunes again as he asked, now it says "iTunes can not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password".

So now, he said "iPhone is disabled; ' Connect to iTunes' on my iPhone 4S and ''iTunes can't connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password ' on my computer. WHAT should I do?

As described in step 2 of "Erase your device with iTunes" in this article, you will need to use the Recovery Mode.

Recovery mode is described in this article as well.  You may try to go into recovery mode more than once to succeed.

  • Computer locking when I close the lid

I have a laptop sony vaio vgn-aw290. When I got it after you have configured the fingerprint reader it would lock the computer when I closed the lid. If I close and open it immediately and it would make me a password. He wouldn't buy support standby or hibernation, it would simply lock the computer. recently, we went to panama, fl on vacation and this feature no longer works. don't know why or how or exactly when. I looked through the settings and power options and may not know how to re - set parameters to lock the lid closed. I also have an HP that has begun to stay unlocked when I close the lid. I would like to know how to configure it to crash when the lid closes, so I don't need the screen saver locks with a password to send it in stand-by or press win + L before I close the lid.

    Hi Mr. Folse,.

Thank you for visiting Windows Vista Microsoft answers forum.

You can follow the procedure below to change the Power Options.

    1. Click Start, then Control Panel.

2 double click on Power Options.

    3. under "Advanced", set the option "When I close the lid of my portable computer" according to your preferences.

If the steps above fail then I suggest to run a system restore to a date when the option was working properly.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

Ideas: computer locked out, says incorrect password, haven't changed the password.

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

These things don't happen by themselves. Once you're in the system, do a thorough analysis of the malware.

You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost. You can then follow the general recommendations for implementing user accounts in Vista that I will give you at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [press Enter]
NET user [insert here the name of your user account] [insert the new password of user as 1234 here] [press Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

Remove the installation DVD and restart the computer. Now, you will be able to connect to your user account by using the password that you set; for example, 1234.

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair Vista (not a system recovery!) system in the diagnostic menu. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. If you do not have this option, you can make a bootable Vista file repair DVD in this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

Once you have fixed things, log on to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • Access denied on a "documents and settings" folder in windows 7 with administrator rights

I get access denied on the ' c: \documents and settings "in windows 7 with administrator rights.  The icon shows a small lock on the (very cute) folder. Permissions indicate full control to the folder. I can only access the contents of the folder by adding it to the library folder. The computer is fairly recent and is very near of the original factory. Unlike my precious computers I left it mostly original except for the odd new program. I never really noticed when it pops up as I was getting used to format windows 7 and thought that it must be "the new way" to 7 " The disk has been partitioned by Asus, which significantly added to the confusion. Now I think that it why documents and settings would be in the same folder anyway?  What is a level administrator uber folder? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

"Documents and Settings" are not a folder - it's a junction Point.

It is there to allow legacy applications using the latest Windows 7 folder structure.

There is nothing in what you can use.

See here for more information about Junction Points:

  • Air iPad - iTunes does not recognize the recovery mode because it detects that the device is locked with a password

Well I'm really frustrated here. I have an iPad Air that I bought for my roommate who unfortunately passed away in October, and so his family gave me his iPad Air and all the other things I had bought for him.

Here's the question. iTunes appears whenever I turn it on and says he can't go because its locked with a password. Good not much according to Apple's site, I reboot into recovery mode... Problem is... nor iTunes 11 or 12 will be pop - up and say its been detected in recovery mode, even if I restart the computer and then reopen iTunes.

What I'm missing here? I am running Windows 8.1, the computer recognizes that its been plugged with two modes... It is the thing of most frustrating I've ever lived and I can't do it in recovery unless its connected to the computer. I tried pressing the home key, which starts just the iPad as usual, as soon as I fix the cord. Also, I don't know what version of the software is (I guess 7 since he never really used) - apparently different versions of the software have different recovery quirks.

I tried the DFU instructions and powers of the iPad on the same before Apple logo the first 3 seconds that you are supposed to hold down the power button.

I am disabled and home because of the panic and anxiety so go to the Apple store isn't something that would be easy for me so if anyone has a solution, I'm all ears.

It was easier to make a gold card HTC that is to delete this thing and that says a lot, considering the amount of work went into those back in the day...

One last thing. iTunes will NOT open if the iPad is already connected. I have to unplug it, forcing iTunes close then reopen.

You should try to do a hard reboot on the air of the iPad, press and hold the power button and the home button until the apple logo appears.

    Hey tprefling,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

Right-click on the zt.exe file and choose "Run as Administrator" to launch the program.

See if you are able to play the game.

If this does not work, turn your computer to clean the start State and see if the fgame plays very well.

To put your computer in a clean boot, follow these steps:

Note: If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. sign the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click OK and then click on restart.

For more information about the clean boot, see the link below:

  • Cannot delete the account of a user with administrator rights

I want to remove a user who has administrator rights account.  Win XP machine has two users (Administrator and a user name) that both are of type of administrator account.

I you as an administrator and should be able to change the other named to Limited user account, but for Limited is greyed out.  The option to delete the named account is not present.

How can I delete this account, leaving only administrator?

Often, I find that using the command line commands gives errors better when you can not do something.  Try the following:

    o bring a window prompt (start-> Run-> "cmd")

o enter the following command in the window:

    net localgroup administrators

o that it must return a list of all users with administrator privileges.  You should see the built-in user 'Administrator' and your other user (assuming that both have administrator privileges).  To remove administrator privileges from the user (assuming that this another username is "Joe"), then enter the following command:

    net localgroup administrators Joe/remove

If this is not possible, an error no doubt will provide you with enough information.
