  • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

  • HP Windows 7 Upgrade error message - "This is not an eligible HP computer."?

Believe it or not, I actually got my WIN7 Ultimate 64-bit yesterday - records ordered on 01-10-09, POP approved 05/10/09 and delivered on 14-11-09.

But this is not why I post here... There is a problem even more great, infuriating.

I have 3 different hard drives that I used in my HDX18t; We have Vista Ultimate and Ubuntu 9.04, there the two 64 - bit, WIN 7 of the month last 64-bit on this issue (of Houseparty.com launch party - can't always figure out how I got caught, but I'll take it!) and a third I goof autour with everything what I want - I had XP Pro top , and Kubuntu top too... it's the drive that I used for the upgrade. Before that, I did a factory restore, wiping completely and using the HP Vista Ultimate recovery partition to restore the drive exactly the way it came from HP.

    So far, so good, right? Well, I did the following steps, following the instructions;

"Start upgrade HP Manager from the DVD

Success! Finally... I received a new package FRO Arvato this afternoon. He had my original above, order number which leads me to believe that they find their mistake to send the DVD of office of HP to HP through their database and sent the correct discs (and ONLY the fixed disk) laptop computer customers in this way. I was hoping somehow that they would send a correct * game *, which would mean I would get an extra free WIN7 Ultimate key, but we shouldn't be * too * gourmand.

In the case where you are still having a published the upgrade of your HDX18, you must have the disc titled "upgrade HP Manager." HP part number is 586185-B21... mine happened today is a DVD, of course, with a white background, with just over 4 GB of goodies on it. I tested it on my hard drive with Vista Ultimate on it and I passed all the tests, but I've not upgraded immediately, because I want to get a new drive to the image of my install Vista on, to keep for posterity.

(My first shipment of Arvato had the * Office * DVD, with nearly half of data as the disk of the laptop and a finish of mirror/clear label "HP Upgrade Assistant" title, with a HP 585072-001 part number.. .no wonder I could not pass the check!)

Good luck to those who still have questions. If there is anything I can answer for you, do not hesitate to ask.

  • After leaving Win10 Win7 upgrade, error "operating system not found"!

My son has been upgrading its laptop Win7 to Win10.  The upgrade has been painfully slow (more than 7 hours) and hooked to 85% achieved 35% of writing configuration files.  The light of the fool presented no signs of activity of the HARD drive for hours.  In disgust that it finally just manually turned off and restarted.  Windows says it's re-installed his previous operating system.  Everything seemed fine at the time.

The next day, as he watched a training video and 25 minutes in the laptop just went to a black screen and showed 'Unknown device Boot' and "Can't find Operating System" error messages.  (Of course he had just looked away for a second because this happened and looked at the back after stopping the audio.)  Manually, it turned off and rebooted 3 times before it should start!

Is that going to be a problem for him in the future?  Now, he's not sure he wants 10 Windows.

    Two options to try:

    (1) Bootmgr is missing, message or black screen with cursor flashing

    (2) how to do a repair installation to repair Windows 7

This will show you how to do a repair installation (aka: install upgrade on-site) for fix your currently installed Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, data, programs and drivers of the system.

Error message @ boot Win 7 Pro "there was a problem starting C:\programdata\ofpviaowu.dat - the specified module could not be found."

This error message appears whenever I have start my computer and windows starts (Firefox doesn't start up). 15.01 Firefox work properly otherwise.

This started after I installed the 15.0.1 patch.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but the problem remains. Search Google for "ofpviaowu.dat" came with "2012-08-29 Firefox version 15 startup Crash Report" as the only listing.

    Is this a Firefox problem?

My system has this file: C:\ProgramData\Mozilla\logs\. I don't think that Firefox or update service should write directly to the root of C:\ProgramData\. It could be a configuration error, or it could be completely different.

You may be able to remove your boot sequence problem .dat file using Microsoft Autoruns utility: Autoruns for Windows. If you find an entry, can describe you it?
