  • Not possible to burn a DVD on the Satellite A100-338 using Windows DVD Maker

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100. I'm trying to burn a DVD using Microsoft Windows DVD Maker and a Sony DVD - RW. The laptop has a carpet * a DVD-RAM UJ-850 s ATA device.

When I try to burn a DVD, a progress bar appears and is about 2% before the hanging.

I also tried to format the DVD first, and which is progressing well before coming up with an error message saying that the drive could not be formatted.

Anyone got any ideas? Am I missing something completely obvious?

    Hello

the following things could probably help you with your problem:

-> control if a new BIOS for your machine and a new FIRMWARE update for your DVD player are available. Update the BIOS and the player firnware
-> use another applications burning like Nero, CDBurnerXP or other thing that is usually know work well with almost all DVD - RW readers out there
-> use a DIFFERENT brands of DVD media because the carpet * a readers are really picky

If all these steps fail, then it is possible that your drive is defective and must be replaced.

    See you soon

Choose one of your avi files, use a video converter, change it to WMV format.
Add the WMV to dvd creation. He accept?

  • Cannot find Windows DVD Maker

Good then it's perhaps insoluble, but I can find more Windows DVD Maker on my computer.  When I open the start menu and select all programs, it's not here.  Is it possible to uninstall this program?  If I managed to do is there any way I can restore it on my computer?

    Hello xDUngeoNMastERx,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

Windows DVD creation is located in %ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\DVDMaker.exe.  You should be able to create a shortcut icon and place it in the start menu.  If this isn't the case, then I suggest you do a restore of the system to date, the program has been lost.

This should answer your question or solve your problem.

    System restore

I hope the information is useful.

  • Cannot open a project in Windows Movie Maker after the backup in Windows DVD Maker

I imported with success of media in Windows Movie Maker, Movie published by using Windows DVD Maker as a guest just so that I could see how it would look.  I was able to view what I had engraved on a DVD and was very happy about how he already produces.  When I returned to Windows Movie Maker and tried to open my project to continue adding multimedia elements to it, I can't open it - it tells me that it is not a valid file in Windows Movie Maker.  Can find my project in My Documents in the category Videos, I'm still not able to open it.  I wonder if I shouldn't have saved in Windows DVD Maker.  I hope that I'm not "all over again.

I would greatly greatly appreciate it if anyone can help.  It is a very special project for a class reunion.

This is the first time I used a forum so I hope I've submitted it correctly.

    Thank you!

    NancyLouse,

Windows DVD Maker and Movie Maker store files with different file extensions.  This means that if you named the file 'file Movie Maker' and the DVD Maker 'file' file the real file names would actually file. MSWMM and file. MSDVD

To display the extensions on all the files follow these steps:
-Click on the ORB to start and Control Panel
-In Control Panel, click Classic view in the upper left corner
-Click on Folder Options, click view
-Scroll to "Hide Extensions for known Types file" and uncheck this box

The search in the folder now where you saved these files or use the search function, you should see the 2 different files.

What version of Windows are you using?  If the Windows Vista Ultimate and the file has been deleted somehow you can be lucky.

Vista Ultimate is a feature called previous versions.  To restore the file back to it's previous state, you can do a right click on the folder where the document has been stored (if the Documents may start, right-click on Documents) then go to properties

-Click the previous versions and you will see the dates corresponding to previous versions of the file you are looking at.
-Select a date and time that corresponds to when the file in this folder was in operational condition and double-click the file to open it

Find the file in the folder newly open and drag the file to your desktop (be sure not to drag to the exact location where the file was initially as not to overwrite the file).

    I hope this helps

  • have windows on Vista Developer, tried to install Windows DVD maker but doesn't seem to work, cannot publish the movie on DVD HELP

I have the windows Director, went to Microsoft and tried to download Windows DVD maker but does not appear to have installed despite me try it 3 times, all I want to do is publish a movie!

On Vista, Windows DVD Maker requires that you have Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.  If you have one of these versions, you should already have Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker 6.0.  These versions of Windows Vista are required to have copies under license from MPEG-2 to make a video DVD.

I was not aware of a separate installer for Windows DVD Maker, so I suspect you look at something of a 3rd site part. If it is a Microsoft site, can provide you the address you use?

  • What type of DVD should I buy to burn my Windows Movie Maker movie? Also, I have Windows DVD Maker, but no DVD burner. What should I buy?

I created a movie in Movie Maker.  I bought some DVD + r's - the correct burn the movie on?  Also, I don't have a burner, I thought that I did, I can only burn a CD what should I buy?  I don't have a Windows DVD authoring program.

    Hi rondah,.

Welcome to the Microsoft community newsgroups.

The type of recordable DVD, you need to use depends on your DVD burner, as well as on your DVD player. Some DVD burners can burn only to certain types of DVD recordable. For example, with some DVD burners, you can only record to DVD + R discs or DVD + RW or DVD-R or DVD - RW discs, while some other DVD burners will let you burn on all of these recordable DVD types.

As long as your DVD burner supports burning to these types of discs, you can use Windows DVD creation to burn a DVD using one of the following types of recordable and re-recordable DVD media: DVD + R, DVD + RW, DVD - R, DVD - RW, and DVD - ROM. These recordable or rewritable DVDs can be either simple single laminate or single sided double layer.

You should also consider the device you're using to play the DVD once you have engraved, if possible. Some DVD players and DVD - ROM drives play only certain types of DVD. To determine what types of DVDs your DVD player or DVD - ROM drive can play, see the documentation that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's Web site.

I no for a fact that there is nothing wrong with the file they open and play very well in one of my players and the same exact files were burned using create DVD Windows on an another Toshiba Satellit (owned by my brother) I was serching hollow these forums for a few weeks now trying things that have worked for other people. • Windows DVD Maker: Overview very rarely reflect final product

I am currently trying to create a dvd from a file that has a 2 x 1 asect ratio. I checked the box to choose the format 16 x 9 and ntsc and all options to create a dvd that should work in theory. When I preview the dvd, it presents the film in its original proportions 2 x 1. However, when I actually create and burn the dvd, the dvd is set to the format 16 x 9 but the actual image is 4 x 3. then, even when I try to stretch the film will change not in 16 x 9. It is a very odd result that I don't think I've changed the settings and it did not always do that. I tried several fires with multiple movie files. I am trying the same movie file in my other pc and will update as soon as it's done. Help, please! I do videos at home and I want to show to the family, but they look ridiculous with the proportions so out of whack. Thank you!!!

  • Why Windows DVD Maker keep crashing?

I try to start Windows DVD Maker with VISTA Home Premium.
Sometimes, it encodes only 3% and then crashes, IE closed its doors completely, suddenly without nessage or warning. Sometimes, he makes 30% or 60% and then hangs. And sometimes, it works perfectly, an hour or more DVDS. It seems to do a few minutes of DVD.
In case it's a matter of heating, I brushed all that I can see inside and checked the fans. I remove the side panel and blow with a fan domestic as well during the encoding.
    Help please.
Following advice by the way, I tried to convert a Movie Maker project file a.wmv, but crashed in the same way. Is the problem in the coding mechanism?

I installed speedfan , and it showed a temperature of 78 C in the CPU and a warning sign. The temperature seems to be creeping upward soon. Overheating is the problem and there is something else to dust?

The real reason was that the CPU thermal compound round had perished, so if you have problems that do not seem to be associated with fan, heater contact a competent PC repairman instead of naffing on this site.

  • . Treated AVI as Audio in Movie Maker and corrupt in Windows DVD Maker.

I have a lot of. AVI files I want to burn to a DVD.  I do not have another series of. Notice to try with these programs to see if it's just them.

Windows Movie Maker treats as Audio files, I tried to disable compatibility filters.  I tried this on two computers to Vista.

    Creating Windows DVD said me:

    0 files were added successfully.

File (s) X could not be added.

    The files

    [Name of file]

is not valid or is corrupted.

I tried this on two computers to Vista.

I tried to convert the files with "Any Video Converter", but there is a substantial loss of the quality of .wmv and mpeg conversion.

I tried "of Aimersoft DVD Creator' trial, but video lags behind audio when I play the video in this program.  The videos show very well "Media Player Classic Home Cinema".

How can I fix these files. AVI or convince Movie Maker and DVD Maker to care for them properly?

    Thank you j of volunteering.

I used Freemake for one of the .avi files convert an .avi file. This increased the size of the file by more than 300% no change in quality.  Windows Live Movie Maker considers the new .avi properly, but not creating Windows DVD or Windows Movie Maker, they still refuse to import or use it as audio, respectively.

I have converted the new .avi to .wmv with Freemake file and it seems that the quality is actually improved from the original. Windows DVD Maker will accept this new .wmv.

I'll convert others, burn and return with the results for the benefit of anyone else who has this problem.

Convert .avi .avi files then .wmv and burn with Windows DVD Maker have exceptional results.  As seen on TV quality is slightly better than the quality of the original .avi files on the computer.  Don't know what attribute this too, but I'm pretty happy.
Sorry for the late reply, but it took time to convert, convert, burn and test.

Thank you very much for the help.

  • Windows dvd maker problem

whenever I try to make a dvd with DVD maker, windows stops the program suddenly after adding video files and click Next. This happens every time that I'm unable to burn the dvd

    The message appears as follows:

Windows DVD Maker has stopped working

A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

    Hi Bindu Prasad,

Create DVD Windows stops working due to incompatibility with one or several codec files that are obsolete or incompatible with the project or the DVD Maker software itself.

(Obsolete or incompatible) Codec files must be located and renamed to resolve the issue.

    1. open the start menu and type event viewer in the start menu search bar. Open event viewer from the menu.
    2. in the case of Viewer click Windows logs in the left panel
    3. click on application under Windows Logs logs
    4. search for the error messages listed in the event viewer window Central Panel and double-click on the error to check if it log is linked to the creation of DVD.

    Example of error log:
    Signature of the problem
    Problem event name: APPCRASH
    Application name: DVDMaker.exe
    Application version: 6.0.6000.16386
    Application timestamp: 4549b5b0
    Fault Module name: nevideohd.ax
    Fault Module Version: 4.6.15.0
    Timestamp of Module error: 459bb828
    Exception code: c0000005
    Exception offset: 00008b 89
    OS version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1062

5 locate the name of the Module of fault, it must be a file with the extension. CXL
6 once identified the name of the file, try to locate the file in the C:/Windows/System32 folder.

(Please click on view the content if the files do not appear automatically).
    7. If the files are not listed in the System32 folder, find the file with search containing the files and system files.
8 find the file and rename it.
    9. check if the problem persists. If the problem persists and the error message appears again, find the new file which is the origin of the problem of event, error log viewer.

-Can also uninstall any third party burning programs and software codec that these could cause the error.

    Kind regards
