First series you updates so that it only checks the updates, but do not download and install. You can restore later if you want.

If you have not already, you need to uninstall updates kb2976978 and kb3035583. Restart and run update checking and these updates should appear again. Just 'hide' the two of them while they do not install again. Click on each one and select the hide option.

  • How to you turn off the warnings on pages window

How disable you the warning of substituted fonts, etc. during the opening or reopening of a Pages document? I'm tired of seeing it almost everytime I open the Pages. The last straw for me was the appearance of "warning: there is no warnings. If not, where can I find and install common missing fonts when you work on .docx documents imported into Pages (like Calibri)?

There is no way to prevent the Committee of cautions, only the possibility to hide after she appeared via the view menu: hide warnings.

Pages will not invent the fonts or font styles if they are not installed. MS Word will invent false appearances bold and italics, and when the actual fonts are not installed on OS X, you will get this warning sign.

Microsoft Office fonts (Calibri, Cambria, etc.) are allowed by Microsoft through Office 2016 for Mac or Office for Mac 2011 facilities. They are not freely downloadable on the web, as some would say. If someone downloads and uses a Windows font only or download a free Internet police - and use it in a Word document that is not provided by Microsoft or Apple, then you will get an another warning sign. It is a real PITA without police discipline and foresight on the exchange of paper.

  • iOS 9.3.1 Mail App crashing on the main window - a SOLUTION. Can be linked to rogue/spam email

I had a problem with Mail crashing several times today and was close to restore my phone but am happy that I stumbled upon a solution until I did it!

I'll copy / paste of the other post I made on the discussion board:

I had a problem this morning with the Mail App unexpectedly crashing when opening on my 5s iPhone running iOS 9.3.1 (last updated).

In case someone knows something similar, I found a solution that was remarkably easy.

Trying to open a mail, the app would show the display of messages for a fraction of a second, and then the crash. Nothing worked - quit smoking and a retry of the app, reboot / hard re-boot of the iPhone, leave all specific applications, disabling of e-mail accounts, settings etc.. I was beginning to think that I have to do a hard system restore, but thank God I have not, as it is a major PITA and I found the unexpected solution.

In any case, I noticed that I could get in Mail by opening one of my emails from the Notification screen. Everything seemed fine, but if I close this message to return to the main window of Mail, the application crashed once more. The main window is appeared to be the culprit. I noticed that several new Spam messages were visible on this screen this morning.

So here's how I found the solution: my computer, I myself sent a priority email, which came on my screen of notifications. By using this link directly to open the message, Mail worked fine again. Then by using the arrows to zip directly from a message to a message, I worked my way through the new emails, including the unrecognized Spam I deleted. Once they were gone, I back-arrow in the main screen of Mail and Voila! No more crash.

So, apparently, there are messages that can crash the Mail app on iOS 9 simply by being visible in the main window. Be aware of this and if this happens to you, with Mail blocks instantly whenever you open it, try this approach before restoring your system software.

You could also try resetting your e-mail account. First close your Mail application completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and drag the email preview pane up until it disappears from the display. You may need to search the mail pane covering scribbles to the left. Then go to settings > Mail, Contacts, calendar > find your e-mail provider and click on the account. On the next page, delete the account. Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Then go to settings > mail... and to add the account.

  • Skype completely freezes my computer whenever it is open. Windows 10

I'm starting to get very irritated with Skype, and my friends and I are all poised to this pit for another communication program. I'm doing a last resort in order to resolve this question before giving up completely.

    Specifications of the computer

    X 51 Alienware system

    10 64-bit Windows

    Intel Core i3 3.70 gHz

    8.00 GB of Ram

Everytime I open my computer Skype everything freezes instantly, and I have to turn off manually.

I follow on each single patch that I can find on this forum and none of them helped. I reinstalled Skype 7 times in total and have reinstalled my drivers realtek audio 3 times in total. I tried several headphones and speaker systems and nothing will solve my problem. If I'm going to my audio devices / check and disable all forms of audio and microphone Skype starts perfectly and excellent work, but once I activate audio Realtek, my computer crashes instantly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm beyond frustrated with this program right now.

(I don't consider decommissioning a solution at all so please do not suggest it)

    Hi James

What is your level of service pack? If you don't know, click Start, run and type "Winver" in the Run dialog box.

Windows Update no longer works if you do not have Windows XP SP3 installed. If the previous step, you have confirmed that you don't have XP SP3 installed, you must download and install XP SP3 from the link below.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

Note: You can safely ignore the warning text indicating that this package is not suitable for the it professional and network facilities.

Important: to avoid a scenario where your system enters a 'loop', due to the installation of XP SP3, you need to check and make sure that your processor type is not an AMD (HP) or non-Intel Processor. You must install the package below the link if yours is a processor not intel before installing XP SP3

  • Home network Windows 7 and XP: can map drives etc network but not to synchronize OneNote

    Hi all

I have a Windows 7 laptop and a desktop XP SP3, all connected with happiness to a wireless router. On both machines, I have the very underrated and generally wonderful notes 2007, which I rely on for the study. I'm reasonably texh-savvy, but I don't know what I don't know, so it is very likely I missed something very obvious.

I can update my OneNote notebooks on the Win 7 to XP machine fine machine, but the Win 7 machine does not update the notebooks on my XP machine without asking for a password.

    I checked the following:

    • They both share the same group, the WORKING group.
    • The OneNote Notebooks folder properties have 'action' and 'allow other users to update' boxes ticked on the tab share
    • The Windows 7 laptop can 'see' the Office XP on the network, but by double-clicking on the icon on desktop XP asks for a password
    • When you look at the map of the network, the XP machine is nestled on the corner and not shown to be 'joined' to the router
    • Portable Win 7 I can map a network drive by using the IP address to a shared folder on the XP machine and move files without any problem
    • "File and Printer Sharing" on the Panel of control-> connections-> 'Properties of the wireless network' network is checked
    • Both machines have static IP addresses
    • I don't put passwords for each machine
    • My computer-> tools-> Folder Options-> enable Simple file sharing is checked
    • Guest account is enabled on the XP machine
    • Password protected sharing is DISABLED on the Win 7 machine

I suspect that there is something that I have not checked/unchecked somewhere on my XP machine.

Why is the Win 7 computer phone harassment me a password when you try to synchronize a OneNote or click the icon under 'network '?

Y at - it an exhaustive list of things that I should check or an article somewhere that covers this? I googled loads, but only have mounted artuicles cloud sharing with OneNote 2010 and sharing of files between Windows 7 and XP, nothing on a password is requested during the synchronization of the OneNote files!

Thanks in advance for your help. I know the legacy tech support is a royal PITA, and I promise you that I will be upgrading to a more sensitive setting when I have the dosh, but in the meantime, I would appreciate some advice! :)

    Hi dogsolitude_uk,

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow the steps in the article.

Networking of computers running different versions of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

I asked these people why thay take off my windows in the cheek with his fist, but not just any what joy

It is unlikely that it is slow because it's an 'illegal' version of Windows.  -How did you find this determination?

If the key prodcut on the sticker on the machine does not match the product key for the operating system installed/running - which does NOT automatically make it an illegal copy.  Some companies use their key "volume" during the installation of the massive numbers of computers - knowing your license is good through this certificate of Authenticity sticker that has a product key that you can use in an emergency.

You report the activity to the better business bureau (or similar group in your region)?

What happens when you change the BIOS to start from the CD drive and put in the recovery CD you have and power off/power on?

What is the brand and model of the computer?

Do you know system specifications (processor brand, speed and number of cores, memory/memory RAM of the system; hard disk total size and available free space; brand of video card and the amount of memory dedicated to it; etc...)?  If so - can share you them here?

    * Note *: Belarc Advisor can be run on the system to give you a part of this information and other valuable information you should also print/store.

As for the cleaning of Windows XP... There are some things you can do.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end.  This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

  • Adapters USB, USB Flash ram conflicts in Windows 7 & Vista

This has been driving me crazy for a long time.  I have a multimedia production studio in which there are 5 computers with additional computers in both offices and in the media center of our home theater.  Two of these computers are Win 7, three are (2 x 32, 1 x 64) Vista and three XP.   The entire network wireless is 2.4 GHz, 802.11 g (because all individual cards are 802.11 g).  In ALL computers Windows 7 and Vista, the pluging and unpluging the a USB Flash drive kills the network (even if I remove the Flash memory).  What's worse, is that Windows still offers me the possibility to connect to an available network, but my network SSID is not on the list (although I get a good enough signal the next guy!).  Not until I am re-booting I get my service network in return.  In the 8 years that I have been using wireless networks that I've never had a same problem with XP.  The superstitious behaviors are things interesting scholars.  For awhile, I had myself convinced that this has happened when I insert an unrecognized device (one Vista or Win 7 has no need to install a driver for).  But several events during the days couiple have completely falsified that theory.  Now, I have to classify the problem as intermittent with a very high frequency of occurrence.

I'm sure that there are there others out there with Win 7 or Vista machines using USB WiFi adapters.  Happen it to someone else when they plug/unplug a USB?  If you have done and solved the problem, what was the solution?

    Thsnks in advance,

    John

First of all, this only happens in Windows 7 and Vista.  It's never happened to me with any XP machine on all Linksys wireless networks or otherwise.  In addition, there is no software Linksys on my Win 7 or Vista machines, I use the drivers Win 7 automatically installs the reader SCM OE Belkin USB network cards (for some reason, Linksys USB network cards are not too compatible with Linksys routers if you use the Linksys utility for control adapters.)  Using Windows network control works, but it's a PITA to join Linksys conceed control).

Since none of the computers that have the problem (all of my Vista and Win 7 computers) have Linksys USB adapters, this I'SNT obviously a problem with Linksys.  I contact Belkin (since it's their USB adapters that I use on most of my systems).  After over 2 hours with their Indian tech support guy, we tested about 6 assumptions about what is at the origin of the problem.  I have conceeeded right away that this was not a Belkin problem (because the SCM systems do also).  In addition, the USB adapters work properly because even if I dropped my network, I have still 3 bars on the neighbouring network it must have been a morning slow Belkin technical support because the tech guy has taken the time to help me solve the problem we both concluded was not Belkin.

My best guess is that other people who have reported this problem have not had the opportunity to observe wgile control as many variables I have at my disposal.  I have 8 systems using all three operating systems (9 If you count my Vista laptop, which do not exhibit the problem with its internal adapter).  All eight desktop computers use wirelexs adapters.  Six are Belkin, 1 is the MSC and other (on a XP machine where it runs under the control of Microsoft network) Linksys.  All adaprters are 802. 11B.  All except two of the systems built entirely by me (the other two are shuttle boxes).  All systems have different motherboards.  Two ASUS, Gigabyte 2, DFI 2 shuttle 2 and no two mothers from the same manufacturer and of the same model.  In 6 problem machines (2 XP machines have not never exhibited the problem) 2 are Core-i7, one is Core-2-duo, 1 is Core-2-Quad, 1 is AMD Phenom II x 4, and an AMD Athlon 64 x 2.  Given that all of these combinations are the problem it's so little likely because any kind of power on the peripheral USB being disconnected ports fluctuation, or any other failure of implementation of material 'USB '.

So my best guess is that most, if not all, people who have already reported this problem, has just developed a theory based on superstition.  I can't get the XP machines to expose the problem definitely seems to point to an interaction between the USB controllers and the grain of the Vista and Win 7 OSes.  If I had to guess, I would pinpoint the problem on the part of the code that handles requests for interruption of state change on the USB connectors.  (Trying to sell this one for Microsoft).  In any case, it's my best theory and I was not able to overturn (falsify) it no matter what I tried.

Now, back to me and Belkin tech guy trying to debug.  I really have to thank the guys from Belkin, because I don't know how long it would have taken me to get to the workaround in the end, he suggested.

If you are reading this and have a WRT400N (and I think, model Linksys wireless router probably all end) this is workaround re-initialization to revisit the network connection is not required.  Apparently when you run the start of Linksys software an additional network with the SSID of the INSTALLATION is also created.  This network CONFIGURATION has no internet connection, so I guess it's there for debugging purposes.  Anyway, you can however connect.   So, as I mentioned earlier, even if you don't see your own network in the SSID list after it is clobered, we can still see at any other SSID in the scope of your card, and that includes obviously the network CONFIGURATION.  Connect to the network CONFIGURATION.  This will allow you to see the SSID of your network in the list as seen in the network CONFIGURATION "list SSID.  You can then try to reconnect to your network.  About 25% of the time, it will allow you to connect without doing something more.  The other 75% of the time you will not be recognized by your own network.  At this point if you are trying to connect to any secure SSID you see in the list, and then cancel when asked to connect the credentials, you can 'reset' uour adapter.   Apparently, this resets your auto-login (password) so that if you now try to connect to the SSID of your network it wil work.  Yet once again, I don't know that I would have worked this until now, if I didn't have the Belkin guys on the phone, suggesting things for me.

So even if the workaround is a hack, it's much less destructive that force a re-boot.  Also, I believe that it is a final bug in the nuclei of Vista and Win 7.

  • Windows says not legitimate Windows 7

A month earlier, something's playing Windows 7 on my system (Pavilion P6000). Have no idea what I did. Firewalls, AV, etc all underway to perfect performance. When you try to restore using restore disks that I made, or those who came with the system, I had many failed attempts. Finally, using HP provided records, restored the original purchased system. PITA, but I got back up and running.

After the execution of grand a month, yesterday I started to have popup Microsoft Windows saying that the operating system is not authentic?

How can I handle this? I don't have a key code, at least not that I know well. It is included on the disks of the HP system, isn't it?

    Help?

    JeepsRule,

When you request support, please provide the number full name or product model of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The above requested information on the side, back, or bottom of the computer. Please, do not include the serial number. Please enter the product/model information in the HP Online Support page for consumers , and/or post it here for our review.

The activation key you obtained using the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder is a mass of activation OEM SLP key, which is not valid for activation by any means other than SLP (System locked pre-ignition). SLP is a system designed to use an OEM SLP activation code mass, a mass of activation OEM SLP certificate and an OEM BIOS with a good matching of SLIC table preactivate major / computers of royalty OEM without having to contact Microsoft.

To use the OEM SLP key from your computer, you can also use the OEM SLP certificate from your computer and make sure the computer has a valid corrupted BIOS with good table SLIC. For an overview of this process, see How to install Windows 7 without the disc . ABR is a utility that extracts the key and the certificate and can restore them both back to a Windows installation. Even with the key and the certificate, you will need a valid BIOS with SLIC table to activate Windows with key OEM SLP and CERT. Download and use RWEverything to determine the version of the OA/SLP/SLIC in BIOS of the computer. See this page of Web MyDitigalLife titled "How to check or verify PC motherboard BIOS SLIC Version is SLP OA 2.0 or 2.1 for OEM Activation" for more information on how to use and decipher the information.

If all goes well, your installation is corrupted and reuse the HP recovery disks will solve the problem. Also, using the 25 character product key Windows 7 on the Microsoft COA affixed to the side of your computer will solve your problem. You may need to call Microsoft if the key is not scoped, but this non - SLP key will work.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your help, but I managed to get the issue resolved.  I had to do a complete clean reinstall.  I got that Windows Explorer has stopped working once, and it's quite earlier.  If I feel it once again, I'll Act of when it occurs.  Once again... Thanks for your time.
