Windows 7 Home Premium cannot be updated (error 80070490)

Hello

I have a x 64 bit desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

I had a moment to try to solve my problem with Windows Update is not be able to install or to look for new updates for months (ask the error code 80070490) and trying to fix it, have caused more problems that I can't fix.

I have troubleshooted countless times, including the use of update Windows Diagnostic tool (that does not correct the problem of update). I also tried to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium from the disc, I bought, only to be greeted with an error message containing: "your current version of Windows is more recent than the version that you are trying to level to.» Windows is unable to complete the upgrade. »

So, I took a dagger blow to scouring the many issues on the Microsoft Answers community that are similar or identical to the problem I have. Some answers have led me to running the sfc/scannow command and also a command "findstr" who has given me a list of files that sfc/scannow could not fix. Some have been classified as "cannot repair" and some more serious labeled "can not reproject corrupted file. My next solution was that I should try to reinstall it from my Windows 7 disc, but try to solve the "current version" problem that prevented me to reinstall earlier. An answer I found in the Community said that SP1 needs to be uninstalled for the resettlement of work, so I uninstalled SP1 and rebooted my computer. I tried to reinstall from my drive again and was greeted with the same error as before: "your current version of Windows is more recent than the version that you are trying to level to.» Windows is unable to complete the upgrade. »

Now my problems include:

  • Windows cannot update or check for updates
  • There is I don't know how to fix corrupted files
  • SP1 is no longer on my computer and I can't reinstall it

Thanks for any help. !

  • Windows 7 Home Premium cannot map NAS / network storage drives

Hi, I'm currently on a PC Windows 7 Home Premium and I have two 2 NAS drives.

I am running a Buffalo Linkstation (old version) and a new Iomega Home Media Network Hard drive.

Initially I thought it was just my Linkstation from Buffalo who is older and has had no updates of the firmware that cannot be mapped as a network drive. But I just got my new Iomega hard drive today and installed the latest firmware and software. The Iomega software detects the drive and all of its shared folders but the problem is that I can not map any shared folders as a network drive, making it useless on my Windows 7 computer.

I can access both NAS drives on my windows xp pro machine very well.

I got off the phone with Iomega technical support and they said that it is a well known problem with Windows 7 Home Premium and readers of Samba. Is there someone out there who can give me a solution? I already tried the fix LMCOMPATIBILITYLEVEL on other forums I found by changing the values 1 or 2 - but still no luck.

It gives me an error of network even when I try to connect to the ip address of the NAS, however - it appears on my network but I can not access or map!

I really want to get my readers network running on windows 7 Home Edition premium without having to upgrade to other users are still having problems, I read. It's a little pathetic I can't even map a network drive on my pc.

I had exactly the same problem with my drive hard Lacie network. If your drive contained donkey type of media, music, or video, Win 7 use the reader as a "Windows Media Connect" device, opening the disk in Media Player, showing only media files...

This prevents access to all ot0her of the player records.

However, I found that it is possible to add the drive as a network drive, if you know the name of the root folder.

In my case, it's "openshare", so when you enter the path to network drive, I use \\192.168.xxx.xxx\openshare, and it allows me to access the drive...

Why Microsoft chose to make this type of access to the files of so difficult to get simple network, just blows my mind, knowing that WinXP has it done easily...

I hope you were able to understand my English, and that this could be useful.

    Kind regards

  • Windows 7 Home Premium hangs on updated 25 June 1, 2010

Hi I have a PC HP PavilonElite HPE-210Y new I bought on Friday, it is installed with Windows 7 Home Premium.    Friday we put in place, made overall upward and downloaded all the updates without problem. On Saturday, we have installed Adobe CS3, DropBox, Microsoft Security Essentials and Microsoft office 2007 (all legitimate copies).      It worked well through this morning, but at about 07:30 the computer says that it had updates installed (29 to be exact). I clicked on ok and went about my business, but it has since been blocked to update 25 for the last 2 hours, but no progress.   Light on the computer that blinks when the HD is committed has not lit at this time and I'm stuck on the screen that tells you not power off or unplug the machine installation 25 of 29...  I had not changed my power management settings, but after some research, it's seems that there are a few known issues with the processor to wake up for mode 'sleep', no chance that this is part of the problem?   other thoughts of what I can do to fix this?    Thank you

    Hi a drum.

First, restart the computer and check if resumes normally and continues.

Otherwise, start your computer in safe mode, and then perform the system restore .

After restoring the system, wait until you get notification of updates of Windows on the system tray, close all applications before accepting the updates of Windows. Check what is happening.

Windows have to restart Windows updates take effect. Check if it still hangs at the 25th update.

    FOR INFO:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/updates-frequently-asked-questions

Also, before you configure Windows updates, go to Power Options and set it to never sleep.

Check the updates that have failed in the history of the update.

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.

    2. in the left pane, click view update history.

    3. to view more information about an update, double-click it.

  • Validation in Windows Vista Home Premium at the start: errors and complications.

I was directed to this forum as a last chance for my situation.  I'll copy what I wrote before:

First of all: I can't run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.

With that of the road, I'll try to explain my situation.  Earlier today, I ran in the hope to get rid of some unnecessary files in disk cleanup. Well, he eventually delete most everything out of my C: drive.  So I ran a restoration of the system to an earlier time.  After the restoration, I tried to connect but received a box saying that my Windows Vista Home Premium product key is not valid.  They gave me three options:

Reduced functionality mode (does not work; see below)

    Enter the product key

Contact HP - do you have this: they wanted $ 100.

Now before to get started by offering suggestions, you need to get more information.

I can't use the reduced functionality mode.  When I click on it, an error with file not found window appears.  The only way I can access my desktop is by going into safe mode, and I can't go in safe mode with network.  So based on this little bump in the road, I was not able to use the tips I found online, because none of those working in safe mode.

Now there is more.  Frustrated, I tried to follow guides anyway.  So I followed the following steps:

    Step #3 game

    (1) open Internet browser

    (2) Type%windir%\system32into the browser address bar.

    (3) find the CMD.exe file

    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and selectrun as administrator

    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, click Yes)

    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    (7) type: Rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32

    (9) Typenet start slsvc

    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)

    (11) restart twice

Not only that not solve my problem (since I was in safe mode I was refused permission), but it has created a new problem.  Now when I start my computer normally, IM is more given three options (reduced functionality mode, enter a product key, contact HP).

Instead, when I log on, an error pops up saying: "Insert the Windows CD or installation DVD into your computer to begin the process of resettlement." Now, my computer was shipped with windows and everything installed by the factory with the sticker on the side of the tower.  I have no Dvd or Cd.

I've had this computer for almost 3 years and I can not lose what I have on my computer. I have a genuine copy of Windows.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

    I used these links:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium slows down updating

    * Original title: Windows 7 Home Premium

I don't know what it is, but Windows 7 must be the slowest when it comes to update. Also, why do I have to restart the Windows Update Service Management?

100% sure... This isn't my machine and no it's not my broadband connection, which works well for me. Let's not forget about my sheet and ISP service.

    (UPDATE: problem solved!) ***********************************************

I fixed it. I went in MSC and RESTARTED (1) BITS, Cryptographic Services and Windows Update. I restarted the PC, checked, wouldn't update of course so I knew that these services have worked, if I think of anything else. I went back to MSC, just completely turn off these 3 services, restarted PC... after the restart it was not long ago maybe an hour or so updates began to pour.

I hope that those who have this problem help.

Original title: son is building a game system, new everything. When you are ready to install windows 7 Home Premium oem bought, continue us to get error 0 x 80070057.

Delete all partitions/volumes on the drive # (ex: disk 0) that you want to install Windows 7 as UEFI system on until # shows like unallocated disk space.

When you are finished, click on/tap on New, apply (for the size of the disk) and OK.

You'll notice that the drive has now been formatted as GPT with 3 partitions. Select the "Primary" 3 partitionand click/click on Next.

NOTE: You may receive a warning "Windows can not be installed on disk 0" , but also long as you can click on the button Next , you're fine.

    Note: The 3 partitions are:

    • Partition 1 EFI partition - System - system that contains the NTLDR, HAL, Boot.txt, and other files that are required to start the system, such as drivers.
    • Partition 2 - MSR - partition MSR (Microsoft Reserved) that reserves a space on each hard drive for subsequent use by operating system software.
    • Partition 3 - primary - where Windows will be installed to.

It is imperative that these 3 partitions remain in the exact order as they are

    That's all.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium - cannot change the user name in the authentication dialog box

I was hoping someone might be able to answer a question on how to get a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium to display both the username and password fields when attempting to authenticate on another Windows computer.

Here's the situation: allow us that the leaders and other members of the staff allowed our Organization to establish a VPN connection to our corporate network (via Fortinet Forticlient, for what it's worth.)  Once the VPN connection is established, on the remote computer, the user must be able to access the UNC path to our file (\\servername\share) server.

Because the remote user has not yet authenticated on the domain Active Directory of business, a dialog box should appear to the user input a user name and password.  Enter the user name (domain\username) and password and share should open, and the user must then be able to access the files in the share.

I (and several other members of the staff) have been using this method successfully to access files via the VPN connection, and it works very well.  However, it does not work whenever the President of the company will connect to the VPN from his computer at home.

Whenever the President connects the VPN and attempts to access the UNC path, he reports that the dialog box which appears on his computer at home has only one field for a password; the user name field appears to be on his local user account, and it doesn't have the ability to change.  (I have him asked if there is an option 'use authentication information', and he declares that there is not just a dialog box with a single field, the field of password.)

The President is running Windows 7 Home Premium on his computer at home, so I thought that the problem could be because he was running this edition of Windows.  However, I have installed VPN client and test the connection on the server share file using the computer of my wife, who is also running Windows 7 Home Premium, and I received the two fields as expected authentication dialog box and has been able to authenticate to the domain successfully and open files from the share with no problems.

Does anyone have recommendations on what I can try to allow the President to authenticate successfully to our server share?  I am confused, and it is eager to be able to get remote access to files on his home computer.

This may be long but im giving information as possible.

I'm good with the computer. My Vista Home Premium computer cannot find my xbox 360 as an Extender. When I use the WIndows media player 11 and share, he sees my xbox very well. Zune software, same thing. My xbox 360 is here no problem on my network in "My Network Places".

In Media Center, once I typed the 8 digit number it is said that he can not find the Extender. I did the following:

    Reset my router
    Reformat my computer
    Reset my xbox 360
Double checked I got the right 8-digit number in media center
    Disabled windows firewall
Went to the tab exceptions and compatible: WIndows Media Center, Media Center Extender, eshell.exe, discovery network
went to the management of the computer and turned on UPnP device host (changed the startup type to automatic and restarted my computer)
Permit "filter multicast" in my router settings
UPnp enabled in my router settings
Upgrade Vista (with SP1 as well)
Re-installed the drivers for my wireless card
Connected to the Xbox 360 WIRED to my router

Heres the funny thing, I have a Sony laptop vaio with Windows Media Center Edition 2005 on the same network that sees my xbox all the time. Its actually connected through a microsoft extension program (XboxMCE05Lite - enu.exe) basically it works fine.

works fine with my other laptop. So I guess that the problem must be my wireless card. I guess that's a PCI card it would have nothing to do with the problem. I'm going tomorrow to buy a NIC. USB Im not in a race simply because my internet works very well without getting a new network card. I am just puzzled and would like to get this to work because I hate running through computer problems and in abeyance. I'll get one tomorrow and let you know the guy.
