Windows 7 install problems on MacBook pro

I'm trying to install windows 7 on macbook pro version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. After installing the Windows 7 DVD and start the installation via the wizard boot camp computer restarts goes to a black screen and then have the numbers one over 2 and under that it shows the select CD-ROM boot type. I can't type anything in. The keyboard hangs or is not recognized.  I'm not sure.
