Can ' RAW be converted to "NTFS" without formatting?

I replaced the power supply in my Dell Dimension 8200/Windows XP and added a new WD 250 GB HD as my master (C) and moved the may have "damaged" Maxtor 80 GB to the position "slave." Both hard drives are recognized as 'online' and 'Healthy' disk management, but 'C' is listed under the "NTFS" file system while 'E' is empty and listed as "RAW" file under properties system. The two HDs show scores. How can I convert the RAW file system in the primary partition of the HD 'E' slave without formatting and losing my data? Haven't found the "recovery discs" for sale online that appeared "reliable." Thanks in advance!

I didn't say it was worse.

  • Convert FAT to NTFS WITHOUT FORMATTING

I have a machine rt surface that has a micro SD card that has a lot of data.  I want to convert to NTFS without formatting the SD card.

On my RT surface when I do

    convert/d:/FS: NTFS

    It is said

"CONVERT is not available for EXFAT drives.

The reason why I want to convert, is that in OneDrive if I try to change the SD card slot, and then a disc insists that the volume must be NTFS.

I do not have a PC on which I have micro SD slot, so I can't move this to my other machines and perform the operation there.

I'm sorry to say, it doesn't look like a good way to do it without putting the data on the card at risk. The only way I think it could be done, is to copy the data somewhere else or save it, then reformat the card, then copy the data on the map.

    Sorry for the bad news.

Difference between material FAT & FAT32?

I have a disk full of files, and it is in the FAT32 file system. As I can't copy large files (5 GB +) in this player, I intend to fix this by changing the file systems. Apparently, it is not possible to do it without formatting. I am curious about a way to do this without destroying the drive.

Difference between material FAT & FAT32?

First, note that there are three varieties of FAT: FAT12, FAT16, and
FAT32. Many people call just FAT16 FAT, because before that FAT32 is out.
FAT16 is the only variety used for hard drives, so just
    The FAT was not enough.

FAT12 (hardly any more used) had a maximum volume size of 12 MB.
It has been used almost exclusively for floppy disks.

FAT16 was used on hard disks (or partitions) up to 4 GB and had a
cluster size which varied from 2 KB to 64 KB, depending on the size of
the partition. It serves almost never again, because almost nobody does
a as small as 4 GB partitions.

FAT32 FAT16 succeeded and has a maximum drive size of 2 TB. His
maximum file size is 4 GB, which explains why you can't copy a file of 5 GB to
it. its cluster size is 4 KB up to an 8 GB partition. Beyond 8 GB the
cluster size develops up to 32 KB.
NTFS, that's what almost everyone should use on their hard drives
today. Its maximum volume size is 2 ^ ^ 64-1 and its maximum file size
16 × 1024 is ^ ^ 6 bytes (much more than the bigger hard drive available
today). Cluster size is 4 KB, regardless of the size of the volume.

I have a disk full of files, and it is in the FAT32 file system. As I can't copy large files (5 GB +) in this player, I intend to fix this by changing the file systems.

    Good! You should.

Apparently, it is not possible to do it without formatting.

It's not correct. To convert to NTFS, use you the CONVERT
command. But first read http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm , because
There is an important question about the size of cluster that is not obvious.

Also note that conversion is an important step, touching everything on your
drive. When you take a big step, no matter how unlikely it is
always possible that something can go wrong. For this reason, there
careful to make sure that you have a backup of everything you can not afford to
    lose before you start.

  • How can I convert RAW hard Drives - Partition to Partition hard drives to NTFS without formatting hard drives?

Hard drive has already been partitioned into E: pilot and H:. However, recently, the format of the driver: suddenly changed from NTFS to RAW. There are some important data in this driver. I don't want to format this driver, unless the data can be retrieved.

I would like to ask for your help to find the solution for this problem.
    Thank you

RAW generally means that the drive is/has failed.

Data cannot be considered as important if you have no backups

You can try this utility free http://www.piriform.com/recuva

  • Presentation of matrix raid NTFS without formatting?

    Hi all

I just installed ESXi 4.1 on a server that has a RAID of 4 TB, formatted NTFS.

The raid card is an Areca ARC - 1260ML. I got it working after working with the console!

However, I don't want to lose all my data on the RAID array and it is simply a lot of backup. How can I make this ESXi matrix RAID of the guest OS?

    Thank you very much

To be honest, I don't know!

My guess is, you will not be able to mount it to a virtual machine at all. However, if you are able to do this work somehow, I'd wait the corruption of data.

Hope you have a good backup in place

  • Connect a NTFS HARD drive directly to the virtual system without format (ESXi 5.0)

Hi, I am fairly new with ESXi and everything, so this may be a very stupid question. I installed ESXi 5.0 without any problem and it converted my old win Server 2008 without problem. Windows worked also as a data store and he had pretty much full 1 TB HARD drive connected to itself. Now, I would like to know how this HDD to NTFS to directly connect to this virtual machine. I can see the disk devices, but I could not find a way to connect to this computer. I wanted to make data store or something like that, but that in fact the data store is not possible without formatting the drive.

I would be grateful for any suggestion. Thank you

    Welcome to the community,

Although not supported (I suppose that the system is in any way a Whitebox) you could try to attach the drive as a ROW for the virtual machine. For how this can be done, take a look at http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/SATA_RDMs.php

  • How can I change the permission of my external hard drive from tours and write "without formatting?

My Toshiba external hard disk format was automatically replaced Windows NTFS after I had plugged on a Windows PC. Therefore, the permissions of the drive changed to 'read only' to "read and write" after that I used on my Mac. It happened once before and I remember the engineer on duty in an apple authorized service center had solved the problem without format the external hard drive. This is not an option for me now as well, but all the solutions, I looked to say online that the formatting of the disc is the first step. Help, please!

Install software such as Paragon NTFS on the Mac.

Sorry about the title full, never used this site before

Complete computer "meltdown" MB had failed. put spare MB in and loaded win XP - PRO after format. Could not downlad win updates.  Depc 0x8024400A error.

Reload XP - Pro without format hoping to fix the problem.  No luck.

    Need help badly.

    I use AVG2012 for safety

I am able to download the programs from other sources.

I can't download the "Fixit" program as it equires SP3 and I'm to SP2.

I tried the manual method and Thatcher did not.  I'll try the "aggressive" mode tomorrow (7/5) and if that doesn't work I'll

    seriously considered returning on Win2K.

and then again loaded WinXP SP2 and I can not even do Windows updates.

First, install the drivers necessary for the computer after reinstalling XP SP2. Then install the SP3 package after you a stand-alone download of SP3 Installer from this link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

Once SP3 is installed, try Windows Update. If it still does not work, or if the SP3 installation fails, you should get some messages or error codes. Post back with the error code.

  • How can I install Windows 8 of my 1.5 TB external harddrive without formatting?

Well I finally decided to move to Windows 8 (starting from Windows 7 x 64), but I'm stuck in a weird situation here...  I image .iso Windows 8 with me but I will not be burn on a DVD, the only option would be either use a USB key or an external HARD disk... Unfortunately my 16 GB USB DRIVE no longer works (and the .iso image file does not in my other USB drives I had remaining)... So I decided to use my drive external HARD on the contrary - but there's another problem... about 750 GB on my HARD drive is full (there are all my files, movies, music, games, etc) and the rest is 'empty '...

So, how can I install Windows 8 of this external HARD drive without formatting? Since I don't have any other "spare" hard drives or USB keys with a lot more storage capacity...  And I can't keep them in my laptop because it has only 500 GB...

Can I partition my external HARD drive and secure all my files in one partition, and format the other partition to use it to install Windows 8 on my laptop somehow...?

You can create a partition on your HARD drive and install Windows inside with Universal USB Installer
Here's how you create a new Partition
    • Open disk management
    • Right click on the partition that you want to split > Shrink > select size > Ok
    • Unallocated space will appear
    • Right-click on > Format give a letter

OR you can install windows on a different partition from your internal HARD drive

You can create a partition in the internal drive and extract files inside Windows and make it bootable with EasyBCD (3rd party free program to change startup options and other things)
    • Create a new partition using disk management
    • Extract the files to install Windows inside
    • Open EasyBCD > add new item > WinPE > search for X:\Sources\boot.wim > add
    • Reboot and choose the new element added to the startup in
I used this method once and it worked
  • Can I install Windows 7 Professional on my Windows 7 Home Premium without formatting the hard drive?

I have a genuine copy of Windows 7 Professional, I would like to install on my laptop, but I'm afraid to do that because I don't want to format the hard drive and lose all my files, programs, etc. Is it possible to install it without formatting the hard drive and lose all my data? Thank you.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

No, it won't be linked to your version of Windows. Probably, you wait too long. Conversion cannot be perfect except for the files very easy.

    Hi m@d @,.

The option to convert to PowerPoint (PPT) is supplied with Adobe PDF Pack (not ExportPDF). If you have purchased a subscription ExportPDF and prefer to have a membership Pack PDF Adobe, we can help you to trade one for the other.

If you want to update your subscription, please let us know.
