  Hi, I wonder if Windows 7 Lite is legal to download for free. If this isn't the case, I can remove it.   PirateBay is a known peer to peer site that distributes popular commercial software such as Windows, Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other popular titles illegally. Download of software on these sites can be very risky, because the origin of the files are usually edited and its quite possible that they could have injected malicious code in it.

  Windows 7 Lite is not a developed Microsoft or affiliated with the product, what appears to be a customized image of Windows 7 that authors customized to remove most of the components of Windows, which can also be very problematic. Basically, they did worse than Windows 7 Starter.

  I suggest that you reinstall your license of Windows 7 Starter and if you need an edition of Windows 7 with more features and capabilities, you do an Express Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade.

  I have an IdeaPad p580 and I noticed that a few basic functionality of windows are not available. I use Windows 7 Home premium SP1 and everything else is usually straight out of the box. I guess these are the basic features of windows because I learn about them in an intro to the class of Windows operating system.

  When I try to use secpol.msc in the start menu, windows cannot find it, and also when I try to encrypt a file or a file this option is grayed out. I think Veriface is the encrypt function creep, or another software that is preinstalled is to play with things.

  No idea as to what could be the cause? Is my book misleading me, I may get to such a different way?

  I suggest, however, that you not install NTBackup, but rather get a cloning/disk imaging application.  What follows is not free, but you get what you pay for.  NTBackup has some limitations (on the one hand, you cannot use NTBackup to backup to the optical media).  NTBackup also is not used in Vista or Windows 7, but after much kicking and screaming, Microsoft made a utility to restore NTBackup for Vista and Win 7 for computers with these operating systems could at least read BKF files created by NTBackup.

  HI - we buy at present a large number of PCs and computers laptop toshiba for use at the University of the OU, we have our own software images specially created and supported (currently windows XP), we haven't really had problems in the past since we can format new computers laptops and re - install our XP image, however, NB500 netbooks seem not to have another win XP drivers We contacted toshiba and they said there is no xp for these drivers.

  You can check yourself if XP drivers are available for NB500 or not. So, visit the Toshiba driver download page and search for of NB500 drivers:

  Mobile > Toshiba > Toshiba NB series > NB500

  As you can see there is not available Windows XP drivers, and you use Windows 7.

  Of course, you can search on 3 pilot sites but there is no guarantee that you will get all the drivers and if they work properly.
  With other words: no official driver available.

  "windows update is not available" for my xp Home Edition.  I followed the instructions to fix and found that I had no gpedit.  Also said something about BITS works do not.  I don't have my recovery disks.  I care not one of my files.  I want just a fresh install of xp.  I tried microsoft fix it but no good.  I tried to change the recommended registry but nothing.  I need to have regular updates for my xp system.

  A1. You should have to do a clean install when you inherited the computer. Since you have not, it's yet another reason to do it now.
