Windows 7 Pro EFS and access denied

Hi all

I use Windows 7 Pro & recently my motherboard has not completely!

Before that, the only indications of a problem seemed to be errors of IO, but Seagate tools etc etc says it all, it was

Well! After some troubleshooting I replaced the SATA cable and everything seemed OK!

So, I supported manually backed up 99% of my files on external drive 'My book' and others on my LAN drive!

Also, I decided to install a new drive HARD Seagate 2 TB and used Macrium reflect to CLONE the OLD drive (C :) for her!

When the motherboard is not / could not access drive etc etc, I have assumed that the drive had failed and decided to make a recovery - Norton Ghost recovered the system OP OK, BUT I wanted THEN RE-BOOT and the system could not do

who... The MB has finally made the soul!

Now that I have replaced the motherboard and I added a SSD Evo 850 and installed Win 7 Pro, I have re-installed the software, we come NOW to the crux of the matter!

Under the former regime in my library of Documents I had an EFS encrypted file, well call him 'MyPvtStuff '.

The NEW system, I have set up libraries develop NEW Seagate HDD and copied all libraries from the old to the NEW. On the audit of all the folders & files copied to the NEW libraries very well.

I use a program called "BEYOND COMPARE [BC]" (CheckIt Out... NOT a gift, but a must-have tool) to confirm everything was OK and deleted the OLD files EXCEPT THE DOCUMENT ROOT directory.

The access to the NEW "MyPvtStuff", I found the files still encrypted, BUT HAD 'ACCESS DENIED' and should have permissions to use them! Also, when I tried to DECRYPT!

I tried the permissions and repossess and import certificates etc. etc. etc. ALL WITHOUT SUCCESS!

After investigating the same problem on the web and try some tools copy etc, I found useful information "If you copy a file or folder across a network, the file/folder is DECRYPTED and then copied everywhere".

So I was Lucky (good luck, no management) that I had copied the OLD "MyPvtStuff" and able to recover a number of file. Unfortunately, I had NOT backed up the most recent file.

I have resorted to the "My Book" drive and found that the backup was also encrypted AND of coarse the really important the (year-end) etc. etc. are the one I need!

I decided to start from the old drive cloned in the hope that I might be able to recover the files of encryption/diploma (you guessed it, I backup the encryption key/powers), it has Boot Ok BUT Windows wouldn't start, not really a surprise!

Essentially, if I can locate the file encryption (whatever it is? and import to my system of work, I should be able to decrypt the files I NEED and what you need is an understatement!)

Unfortunately, a lot of links referring to the technical support from Microsoft for Windows 7 are WITHOUT available and making it very difficult to get the information I need! If anyone has the s on which folder / files that I need to find so I can at least import the certificates that I'd LOVE to hear from you!

Some additional info, I have the installer of the new system with the same user name and account profile, password etc.

In safe mode does not help at all!

Thank you very much

Help, please!

Hello Shrike,

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Let me help you.

As a first recommendation, I suggest you go through the article and check if it helps. Here is the link for your reference.

  • Just as a reference: how to FIX the annoying 'White Screen Of Death"with Silverlight and"Access denied"error with computer management.

Well, I just hope that someone who has met these two mistakes will find my dose. It might save a lot of pointless research on the net.

    SYMPTOMS:
-When you try to open a Silverlight application in your browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc), your browser displays only a white area. When you right click on the white area, you can click on the Silverlight properties.
-If you try to start "Computer management" by clicking on the 'My Computer' icon and select 'Manage', you get the following error: 'access denied '.

    CAUSE:
The following errors are usually the result of a bad environment variable. In this case the "windir" environment variable does not work correctly. You can try running the management of the computer to start > run and entering:
    %windir%\system32\mmc.exe/s %windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc

Notice the between the characters of percentage windir environment variable. If you run the above code, you will probably get an error saying that MMC cannot open the file. Look closely at the path, it's back!
You will probably find any % somewhere.

What actually happened here is the variable windir made reference to another variable: systemroot
Why this creates problems, I'm not sure. Also, I don't understand what made then variable windir change.

    SOLUTION:
-From your desktop or Explorer: right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties".
-Click on the "Advanced" tab and then click "Environment Variables".

    http://pcauthorities.com/images/advanced-system-properties-XP.jpg

-Did the windir variable. Together to "C:\Windows" do not think that it is already set to "C:\Windows", because windows then tells you. Double-click it to know for sure.

-See, I told you! Change this to "C:\Windows".

  • Error opening Windows Firewall: 0 x 80070005 access denied

I have Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 installed on my computer. When I opened a Bittorrent client, I receive the following error message

"Error opening Windows Firewall: 0 x 80070005 access denied."

I've added exception for a specific port 24366 (used by the BT client) on the Windows Firewall, to receive incoming connections. However my port (http://www.utorrent.com/testport?port=xxxxx) and the test of telnet to the port, seem to fail. The port online test gives the following error

    "Year error has occurred!
" Port 24366 does not seem to be open."

This looks like a problem with the Windows Firewall. Any ideas on how I could get this problem resolved?

Thank you Rob for the various ideas. I finally got this working! Not sure if this is a Vista problem or just my computer, but when I opened the customer of BT using 'RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR', it started working.

I hope this helps others out there of similar problems. It's a two-step process,

    1. make sure that the port of the torrent is open in Windows Firewall
    2. open the customer of BT using 'RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR'

NOTE: I am already connected with an administrator account.

    Thank you guys.

Please help me, you have this problem for about a week now, I was just at my PC then suddenly descended from connection and everything was gone?
Please help me to get fixed that problem judged 1000 forums!
    Hi gabrieldemirci,
You mention that "I was just at my PC then suddenly descended from connection and everything was gone."
Hear you errors are not displayed or you are unable to connect to the internet?

Is the connection via cable or wireless? If it's wireless, try to connect with a cable and see if the problem is resolved.
You can try these methods to check whether the problem is resolved.
    Method 1: Run the troubleshooters.

Method 2: Perform a PING test.
    (a) type "Command Prompt" in the find and right-click on the result and click "Run as Administrator".
    (b) type "ping " (without the quotation marks or brackets) and press "Enter."

    (c) post the results here.

Method 3: Updated network adapter drivers.
Update the network adapter drivers on the site of system manufacturers.

Method 4: Perform a system restore.
If the problem occurred recently, you can perform a system restore.

NOTE: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

  • backup of Windows Vista failed due to access denied 0x80070005

I'm try to use a WD Passport essential 320 drive (8 months) as support for my daughter Gateway laptop (about 4 years old; 2 GHZ RAM, 150GB hard drive, 100 GB of free, USB ports are 1.0 only, sigh!).    Instead of using WD Smartware, try to use the backup utility Windows Vista (Basic, 32-bit).    I followed instructions from WD on this exactly, but every time I try the backup, which takes more than half an hour in what appears to be a valid backup operation, the backup stops abruptly with an error message indicating that the backup failed.  Error message States only: 0x80070005 - access is denied.  As far as I can tell, I attributed to full sharing for the drive and the drive itself shows as a separate with no partitioning drive.   Technical support (level 1) WD told me that they think that the drive itself is correct, that the problem is with Windows and that they could not help me with Windows problems.   Themselves to level 2 has said pretty much the same thing but offered through the messages of support from MS, but neither he nor I saw patches associated with Vista, only the XP machines.  What is the benchmark for my Vista operating system?   Thank you!

I have the same problem.  I have a WD external hard drive, I had the habit of saving on all the time with no problems.  January 2011, I have not had a successful backup and rather get moved out of the backup mid-term with error 0x80070005 access denied.  Have you ever found a solution?  I tried to turn off UAC, security, firewall, backup in safe mode, but nothing works.

We were recently infected by the l-worm/swen.a malware. It came in an e-mail. I wanted to see who sent the e-mail without opening it and were advised to use the command prompt and the 'type' back command. I got the error message "Access denied" while I had full control permissions. The permissions are greyed out after c:\users\------Although it shows full control.

  • Windows 7 Pro seddenly denies access to the local settings folder

I log on my Win7 PC as an administrator and sometimes see the subfolders and files in my Local Settings folder. There has never been a problem for several years. But a few days ago I tried to navigate to the outlook.pst file is stored, but clicking on the local settings folder generated the message "local settings is not accessible. Access denied. "

I haven't changed my user profile since I implemented this PC in 2011 and have not changed the password in quite some time. My only recent system change came after I received a warning from Windows Tuesday that trash has been altered. To resolve this problem, I followed the steps in a thread of Microsoft Answers by activating the display of hidden system folders and files, and then deleting the file $recycle.bin. Windows regenerated the trash and I disabled the display of hidden system files. The next day, I discovered my access problem.

What should I do to fix my access?

Thanks for letting us share this resolution.

I have the Codes for the software Windows 7 Pro 32 & 64 bit. I need the ISO for them. Where can I download the iso for the Window 7 Pro?

    Hello

Download the ISO on the link and make your own drive and use the product key you have.

    http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-image-downloads.12325/

And Neosmart has instructions on how to burn ISO disk images using imgburn:

    http://NeoSmart.NET/wiki/Burning-ISO-images-with-ImgBurn/

    Then do a clean install:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-Windows-7-a.html

By using the downloaded ISO file method can require the Activation of phone.

If it does require phone activation, do not follow Demand of Auto, but brace yourself for a real person explain as to what has been done for purposes of re-setup

The above method also requires that you go to your computer manufacturer's website > Support and downloads Section > locate your model number and operating system > then download and install the latest drivers for it.

There is a mode setting of compatibility for NT4 SP5, but not for Service Pack 4.

Compatibility mode does not guarantee success in running an application.

Right-click on the file or launch exe shortcut and select properties then compatibility and try it.
