Windows 7 product key not recognized by windows

I have the HP dv6-3122us laptop with windows 7 Home premium preinstalled with Office Starter 2010 reason for all the problems of the system listed in convenience stores, that I ended up having to restore the default values. Would not install until through a guru on this forum post, I could finally restore from disk by removing the battery. I don't know what happened but when finally restored the hard drive used 57 GB of my drive and shows not all disks on my laptop. It shows a lot of files when pulled upwards, but originally before the resstore, there were only about 8 GB used. My other problem is that it asks my product key to activate windows and does not recognize the one I provided with the PC says that I might have to buy another key. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! Also my guarantee for the PC is no longer valid. Micorsoft says to contact the manufacturer, the manufacturer says to contact Microsoft. All diagnostics say there is nothing wrong, but OH YES it is!

It won't work because the product key has been for an OEM different to install your trying to install a retail business instead of OEM product key which will not work. That's why your do pass this message. What version of Windows you are trying to re - install? When you reinstalled you wipe the HARD drive and the partition hidden as well? Maybe when you reinstall again to install the Windows 7 home premium and who should install. Put it this way you have Home Premium and no future install disc you use will have to be Home Premium to use the product key that is located on the sticker on your laptop. You do not get to use the product key for Windows 7 Ultimate version, it works that way or or she will let you.

After starting problems on my Toshiba satellite with xp pro sp2, I booted my xp pro sp2 disk and did a repair instead of a reinstall software.  He went through the motions, removed the sys files, copied them back and so on.  Then he asked my product key and I typed in it and it does not recognize.  It's a real bought copy of xp pro sp2.  Now, I'm stuck on the main screen of the product.  When I start the laptop on the xp disk it blue screens, the only option I have is to enter a product key in the configuration...  I have my receipt for my xp pro disk and product key for certification sticker.  Help, please!

"XP MCE Pro? That is not normal! It would be one or the other (AFAIK). Here is an example:

If the hybrid you mention is the real thing, it's new to me! I know that some have described as a superset of Pro MCE, but I never used this version, so I can't tell you definitively that a COA sticker wouldn't this combo of terms...

In addition, the term 'Enterprise Edition' implies something not legitimate. I do not think that Microsoft has never used the term marketing for Windows.

If you had a legitimate retail version of Windows XP (any version) that is not used on another PC, you can perform a Clean Install (not a repair installation), using this key (not the key COST laptop). The only way you can use the key from your laptop COST would be if you used the correct installation CD - a generic OEM version of the corresponding XP (MCE?) version. In this way, you can perform a clean installation or a repair installation.

Have you looked at the links I posted? What do you mean by "boot option? The instructions were to press the zero key while turning on the laptop. You are not supposed to enter the OS! The recovery partition is quite distinct.

If your laptop does not a recovery partition, you should be able to get the correct recovery CD for this Toshiba - by Toshiba or you might need to find a reputable eBay merchant, etc.. Restoredisks.com, who has a good rating from Better Business Bureau, they probably sold too.

  • Product key not accepted when you try to install Windows XP.

Windows Xp reinstall the product key invalid pop up

OK, so here starts my road of woes. First of all, I got a problem with a driver updated on a COMPAQ DeskPro ENS P866. It complements removed all the sounds of this PC. I tried every fix on every techie forum goes without result... including uninstalling, resettlement (thanks to automatic and manual methods). Stop and start services, Fix IT, restores... etc etc. You name it I tried it. I knew that these drivers were on the original Windows installation, so I decided to bite the bullet and do a complete Tassel and take all the patches from its state of origin (desperate that Yes). OK so I took screen prints of my information on the product and information system before you start... I started to follow the XP Reinstall instructions by the support site for windows... and everything seemed to be going great until I arrived at the main screen of the product. I put in my 25 char key and got the pop up "the product Id you entered is not valid. The CD I have, was not a copy retail it was a copy of illigit. However, I bought a license real profit to perform this legal copy... then this could explain why its causing me problems? Otherwise why the * it will not accept my key bought. I checked then double I indexed in as it was printed... and I am really frustrated. Ive gone 1 speaker works do not, no noise, no computer/XP... I tried the Chat Support and they confirmed my product key is still valid... and is the version correct etc etc. But thensaid I need to call a number paying to discuss further. I realize XP is under extended warranty... They want to pay my 46 + VAT + extras before they will even speak with me... at all. So what now? Product ID is 7558881-76487-084-22948 Microsoft Windows XP Professional... updated originally to NT/2000. The sticker on the unit refers to the earlier version HELPPPPP!

    Original title: Windows 7 download

I have a pre installed Windows 10 PC. I want to downgrade so I tried to download Windows 7 from Microsoft. It said to insert my product key, but it does not work. Any tips? It's as if I can download my Windows 10 product key working to activate Windows 7?

Follow the zig - zag. If there are drivers available, here's how you can get the Windows 7 installation media.

Note: This site works often hurts when you enter a product key, bad language is one of the questions. You can also receive a notice to connect with the manufacturing of PC if you have a key OEM supplied with your computer, but it can't hurt to try.

Please read the following information below is one possible solution.

    More information and alternative resources:

If you have a friend with a version of "Retail" (Full or upgrade media, only in the media that you don't need their key) of the installation DVD (should be the same as your key was for: Home Premium, professional or Ultimate) it will work with your "Retail" or "OEM" product key, if you need to reinstall or repair Windows.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64 k product key not valid after more than a year of use

Initially, I bought a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 upgrade as a student version. My computer originally had Windows 98. ten years later my hard drive died, and I learned that you cannot reinstall a version upgrade. (beware of the free windows 10 UPGRADE). I bought a product key of the online Microsoft Store over one year in January of 2015. I have finally is broken down and bought the key because I was advised if I never had to do a Setup again that buying a key meant I could without any other expenditure. It seems to work fine until I recently got a message saying that my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 is not valid. I called the Microsoft store and they claimed to have no trace that I already bought the product key from their part. After a few unsuccessful attempts to locate the original mail, finally, I scored. I received an email from a Laura McBride in the Microsoft Online store, with a product key and a link to a file in Dropbox. So I tried to do a repair and reinstall by using the information in the email. The Dropbox file will not download to my Dropbox, it said its too big. It will not download to my computer as it says that the .zip is too large. I'm reaching here. What can I do next?

No third party or Microsoft Partner are allowed to sell product keys.

  • Reinstallation of Windows 7 Ultimate edition, suddenly product key not valid?

After 5 years of use, I started having trouble with my system. Microsoft Office gave errors and Windows 7 has been hard too long to start upward or too long to close. I decided to do a new reinstall of Windows 7 Ultimate. I bought the version I have in my University just now and everything was going well on the first re-setup, until I tried to install Microsoft Office only to watch him hang at start installation for far too long. After trying to solve the problems, I thought it would be better update of Windows 7 in total, well, Windows Update installation suspended installation and start-up. So I figured a reboot would help and unfortunately the o/s started showing the same symptoms he had before as I wiped the drive clean. I erased the disc again and tried a new installation, but this time all of a sudden, my product key was invalid. Again, it is a purchase copy, should I call Microsoft?

As a reminder, I have no o/s on the system other than the installation just run by the disc, now it is stuck on the main screen product because he accepts it.

You should be able to install without a key and start the 30-day grace period.

This would then allow to enter the key after installation. However if that dialogue initial report, the key is invalid what you type does them not. At this point, there is no that verify that the key is correctly encrypted is the right key for the version of Windows that you are installing, it does not check with Microsoft for the key abused later, may not have a network connection.

Make sure that the characters are correct

    B C D F G H J K M P Q R T V W X Y 2 3 4 6 7 8 9

Some ambiguous characters do not serve but B and 8 can be confused because of the size and the tail of the Q is so small it looks like O which is not actually used

  • Windows Anytime Upgrade product key not / not valid

I have a brand new laptop Asus pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter (the national retail chain bought) and also bought Windows Anytime Upgrade (always from a national chain). Both must therefore be produced authentic.

I spent two days trying to upgrade to Premium; ten minutes after the operation, I was told that it didn't (several attempts). On advice found on the MS Community tried to turn off my antivirus, downloaded the fix CheckSUR, disabled User Account Control, check the hard disk for errors and hidden/disabled MS Services on selective startup. I already have SP1.
All I get now is a message that the product key is not valid (it has not been previously, and I did not). I tried restore and then re - run the Windows updates above, etc., but still the product key is "invalid" and I can't go any further (without option to continue without a valid key).
I have never had the real issues of Windows before I couldn't fix, this completely defeated me - ideas? Thanks in advance...

You could try to reset it to factory State, and then try the Express upgrade.

  • Windows XP key not recognized

I had to perform a recovery on my Toshiba laptop and Microsoft has refused to acknowledge the key of Windows (XP) which was fixed at the base of the computer.  The computerized phone system repeated that the key indicated that the my system has been cloned?  It is impossible that I bought the computer new laptop from PC World a few years ago.  Any suggestions?

If you use the installation media that Toshiba has given you (or you have created some processes on the machine itself, when you bought first it) do set of the product key to the machine (if you still enter one during their process) should be correct.

If you, on the contrary, is turned off and got your own installation media and then try to use the afixed product key to the machine - which may fail (for several reasons).

If this one, let us know and you can do about it.

  • Product key not working only not for the upgrade from Windows 7 starter to win 10

I have two Asus EEEPCs came with Windows 7 Starter.  The product key is on the bottom of the devices.  And they are completely legible.   4 years ago by ish and over the years the installations of Windows crashed, one of them, I installed Linux, the other, I played a bit with the installation of Android.  Today, I have upgraded to Windows 10 for each of them, wipe the disk and did a full install from USB.  One of them was perfectly, the second installation won't take the period key, the product license.  I even tried to change the characters only TWO that could be incorrect due to friction vs O Q and still nothing.   is there a way to send an image of the product key to Microsoft and someone to tell me what the heck is wrong with it?

Try to contact support to have reactivated it:

Activate your Windows 10 license with Microsoft Chat support

  • The key of product is not recognized.

I checked my product key w/MS, and they said to come to support.microsoft.com and follow the links it so that my product key will be accepted.  What helps?  Well worth it, and I can't accept.   I bought a new laptop and try to make him accept my product key.  Why buy a MS product again?

I called Best Buy Geek Squad, and they got me to work!  Seems that W7 has Microsoft Office trial versions, etc.  So, we removed all MS programs, rebooted, and then I installed my versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher just fine and dandy!  It's amazing, that you can't get good help from MS!
