Windows 8 to 8.1 and prodcut key upgrade

I have a new laptop HP with Windows 8 zbook is installed. I downloaded all the drivers for Windows 8.1 and am about to take the advice of Microsofts and modernization to 8.1.

However, if I need to reinstall Windows 8 will it take the windows product key? and where would I find that? It is in any of the usual places, under the battery, on the merits of the case, inside the service door...

Flank Steak,

It depends on how you install 8.1.  If you update the store of the partition recovery will be unaffected and will be kept for Windows 8.0.  After recovering, you need to update again to 8.1.

If you do a clean install and reformat/remove partitions, you need to have created recovery disks or ordered from hp.  These will be Windows 8.0 and you need to update to 8.1 after recovery.

8.1 there is a Microsoft feature for creating a System Image disc.  Maybe what you need.

    Hi Ken,

Open windows control panel, open programs and features, find the entry for the right-click on HP Quick Launch buttons, and select uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, download and install the alternate version of HP Quick Launch Buttons on the following link.

Once the installation is complete, reboot the laptop again and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking.

  • HP Pavilion 15n - upgrade issues lower windows 7 (FN, aero peek and sleep keys)

    Hello

I recently bought a HP Pavilion 15 (n097), which is pre-installed with windows 8... naturally I went down to Windows 7 and installed as a good number of pilots required system I could get my hands - everything seems to have worked pretty well, the only problem now is that:

    (1) I have no option "sleep" in the start menu, it is grayed out (only to stop, restart and hibernate are available)

    (2) making the skimming between surprisingly heavy programs is not supported by aero peek

    (3) none of the function buttons work

I would be VERY grateful if anyone knew where I might be able to install the necessary drivers so that I can fix these problems were.

    Thanks in advance.

You can download a (ISO) image of Windows 7 SP1 by using the links provided in this HP forum thread titled "How to install Windows 7 without the disc". During the installation of Windows 7 you must use the product key of Windows 7 from the Microsoft COA on the underside of your computer. If your computer came with a different operating system, you will need to purchase a copy of Windows 7 with a COA and a key valid unused product.

  • I've upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista on a Tablet PC and have since upgraded to Windows 8. Can I re-use the upgrade of Windows 7 on an another Vista PC?

I have a Tablet PC originally shipped with Vista installed. I've upgraded to Windows 7 disk 3 license and have since upgraded to Windows 8 with promo code I got when purchasing a new office.

Can I reuse the license to move an other PC from Vista to Windows 7, since the upgrade to Windows 8 would have been valid for a Vista upgrade?

Yes, you can transfer the license of Windows 7 on another computer. Why, because the basic license is Windows Vista.

    Questions about Windows 7

    Hello

If the system is upgradeable to Windows 7 there should be no problem however things
    can and go wrong.

    1. make sure that you have backups. Redundancy is good, many using different methods.

    2. run the Upgrade Advisor and verification of the major features with the Compatibility Center.

    3. check with your system manufacturer and device BIOS manufacturers and drivers for
Windows 7. Many manufacturers have special instructions and help to help upgrade
for Windows 7. Many also have warnings on the traps, we should take account of.

  • I have windows xp pro, how can I restart my computer if I don't have the disc and the key

I would like to know how to reboot my computer and erase everything when I don't have the disc and the key

You will need to get both if you want to reinstall Windows on your computer.  The key is in your Windows system, if it can be started and run, by using a utility such as Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder.  With respect to the disk, your computer manufacturer may be able to provide one for you.

Without this, you cannot install xp.

I want to reformat my mac with bootcamp and I want to reinstall windows. can I use the same cd key and product? or do I have to do something with the current activation? Windows will recognize that it is the same computer after I repartition it?

If it worked the first time, there is no reason that it will not work the second time on the same computer, as long as the Windows 7 is a full version.

If this is an upgrade version, you must have the qualifying OS installed and enabled before you upgrade and it will work.

  • I bought a new hard drive. I don't have a system recovery disk. Can I load Windows Vista from another source and activate using my original product key?

I bought a new hard drive. I don't have a system recovery disk. Can I load Windows Vista from another source and activate using my original product key?

    Hello

There is no download available from Microsoft Vista.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key determines which Edition is installed.

Builders recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

p.s. If the old hard drive is still installed and running before you change on hard drives and you never received the to purchase recovery discs, you can make the recovery discs from the recovery Partition which should be on the old hard drive. You will need to request that the manufacturer how to do as each computer manufacturer has their own way of making records of this partition recovery.

It depends on the old hard drive still works.

The key to Windows inlegible sticker, want to reinstall windows

What can I do if I can't read that the key is for Windows because of the part of the key on the sticker has rubbed off and must be re-installed Windows?  The product ID is located under the control panel > system maintenance > system > Windows Activation of a useful?  I don't want to end up with a Clipboard after that reinstalling Windows because I have a legitimate copy of Windows, but the key became disfigured over time, since it's on the bottom of the laptop.  I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 running on a Dell Inspiron it's way outside the guarantee of its window.

    Thank you!

    Hello

If you have a product key on a sticker in your computer, this means that you have an OEM product key. If you have OEM keys, this means that the windows you have here is preinstalled.

If you reinstall windows OEM copy, you must use either the original manufacturer recovery disk or the recovery partition. If you use one of the people, should not be put to any start-up because the windows OEM versions are technically preactivated.

If you don't have a disc or a recovery partition, you can contact your OEM (DELL) so that they can send you a disk. Alternatively, you can contact Microsoft Support just in case. : D

  • Hello guys, I installed Windows which was not original, and now it's not true, I do not know the product key.

    * Original title: product key

Hello guys, I installed Windows which was not original and now it's not true, I do not know the product key and I want to activate how?

If the edition installed does not match the edition, you have a product key because it will not activate.

If you have a product key for the specific edition installed, try the phone activation:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.
