Windows activation problem - sticker product faded on bottom of laptop key

Hello. I installed Windows Service Pack 2 on my HP laptop, and now it requires Activation. My activation key is a sticker on the bottom of my laptop which has now disappeared, and I am unable to see what the numbers are. How can I turn it back on. Microsoft does not provide support, nor thanks HP.

Have you tried to phone activation? Type Start, "slui.exe 3 ' and follow the instructions. Do not meet the guests phone until you are asked if you want to speak to an agent.  Explain your situation to the officer.

Microsoft does not support OEM of Windows copies without recharging.  The OEM is responsible for this.

Manufacturers do not keep a record of the product keys assigned to individual computers.  The COA stickers are placed in batches at the time of manufacture.

Try to use a magnifying glass and a bright light to read the product key from COA.  If you cannot activate this way then you will need to use the HP recovery software to restore Windows back to its factory condition.  You can have a recovery for this partition.  If so, please visit the HP website for instructions for its use.  Recovery will eliminate your programs and files, back up your data.

Recovery software will reinstall the product embedded factory key and auto activate.  The embedded key isn't her even than on the COA sticker and can not be used to activate manually.

If you do not have a recovery partition, and you have not already ordered a set of recovery discs, you can order from HP.  See the HP site for ordering instructions.  If they are no longer available at HP, you can buy them from a third party as Recovery - Disks.com.

Have you tried to use system restore to get back to a date before the installation of SP2?

  • Windows activation problems

I have a problem since I built my new pc, I had Windows XP on my old pc so I thought I could use the key one on this pc, this pc is no longer usable.

The useless company that we bought the old pc off should have gave us a windows disk, they gave us an OEM disc that dosent work on the new pc because it has a different motherboard. so I downloaded a windows bootleg copy thinking I could use my real key to validate...

For some reason any it does not accept my valid real key, I tried everything to change the key, cracks, programs of the window, nothing works... What do I do because I don't want reinstall windows every 30 days and I bought the software I have the right to use a coppy of it.

IM thinking I should download a different copy of windows and try to change the key to this one as it could be this particular disc I downloaded... but I would avoid rather than, as I don't want to do it again for the 4th time with a reinstall. Do you think it's the drive I had or what im just going to fail again on another?

    Hello

The disc that came with the other PC is somehow under license as well as the material that if you change this material (the actual identification pieces being the motherboard), you must contact Microsoft and explain your problem to see if it the license terms cover what you're doing.

Read here http://aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.php on the activation of the product and how it works.

  • After the PC recovery window activation problem

Hello friends, hope you're in a good mood.

My laptop came originally with Windows 8, but I have improved after a while to 8.1. Yesterday, due to some issues I needed to restore my machine. He went all very well, but now I'm getting a command prompt to activate my window (which is 8.1). It does not automatically it should I guess. Please guide me to solve this problem. My appriciations in advance to everyone. Have a nice week ahead...

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

You must activate Windows within 30 days of installation. Activation helps verify that Windows on your computer is genuine and has not been used on more computers than the Microsoft software license agreement. In this way, activation helps avoid software counterfeiting. For more information, see activation of Windows 7: frequently asked questions.

Note: This FAQ is for Windows 7 but information shared in this link is useful for other versions of Windows too.

If Windows 8/8.1 is installed properly on your computer then, try the steps in the following article to activate your Windows.

  • Windows activation problem

I have a 8500 XPS that came from the factory with Windows 8.  Shortly after the purchase (approximately beginning of 2013), I did the hot spare on 4 DVDs.  Recently, the hard drive failed.  I gave the seller Dell service tag # and ordered a new hard drive.  I asked what I had to re-install the operating system.  I was told I need a USB ($39.99) and ordered a.  I was told this would get operational.

I installed the new drive and insert the USB key.  Windows installed and is running.  However, I can't activate Windows.  Using Belarc advisor, that I could find my Windows key included on the bios.  When I entered this key pop up tells me that the current edition is Windows 8 Pro and the current product key ends with QPBRC.  "This is different from the product key that is embedded in the bios and I get an error code of 0xc004c003 ' the activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked" and that I have to buy a new key.

I guess the problem is that I have a valid key for Windows 8, but not Windows 8 Pro.

I called Dell and was given a number to call Microsoft. Otherwise, I was told that I would need to go through the technical support Dell for a cost of about $250.

I am at a loss at this point.  All suggestions are welcome!

The sticker stuck on your system say Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro? Editing say Windows or Windows Pro 8.1 8.1? Looks like Dell send the wrong edition of installation media.

Allows to try to resolve this first I recommend first making sure that your BIOS is up to date revision A13:

    http://downloads.Dell.com/published/pages/XPS-8500.html

See here for your (UEFI) BIOS revision and update. Ensure the UEFI and SecureBoot are enabled:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/updating-the-BIOS/#BIOSRevision

Then you have the choices install Windows 10 TH2 or clean install Windows 8.1.

Microsoft installation media does not ask for a product key and automatically drop your embedded UEFI BIOS SLP key installation provided the support of Installation and your product key game edition. In other words, if you have requested a product key you are installing the wrong edition.

I advise TH2 10 Windows on Windows 8.1 see here for more details on your free upgrade of Windows 8.1:

To download Windows 10 TH2 installation media, see here:

  • Windows activation error: the product key you entered cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer.

    Activate Windows 7

I would like to ask questions about how can activate my correct windows, I tried to activate it but he said to me (the product key you entered cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer) I don't know what I have to do?

    Windows product ID: 00426-068-2964761-86079

Recently, there have been a rash of product keys for Windows 7 purchased from auction sites appear here as not authentic.  They appear to be related to this HROnline HrOnline code: 0xC004C4A2. If you have purchased a key of a web site selling auctions (like eBay), please understand that the seller would have sold this product to several people key, causing the key more on the blacklist. These keys were never intended for resale; they were intended for the software development or assessment depending on the program that they were obtained through. If you have purchased one of these keys and it became not genuine with the above code, you must purchase a new license for windows 7. Try to validate by going to www.microsoft.com/geniune and follow the links provided to repair windows.

Added note. You have only a limited amount of time (45 days I think) filing a claim with the auction sites. Stay away from these keys, if you purchased a key that has turned non-genuine and are within 45 days of purchase file a claim. There are publishers of legitimate software on auction sites, but if it sounds too good to be true then don't buy it.

    Things to watch for.

Recently reported several cases of blocked MSDN subscription product keys packed with legitimate research media. I can not stress enough to save your packaging, media and reception, if you buy software such as this to appeal to the Bank, you bought it and report it to www.microsoft.com/piracy.

If you purchased a product key, with or without DVD or packaging of a sale auction web site (e.g. eBay) or any other person or seller and this could be a product key MSDN Subscritpion because your key has been blocked, you can check a few things.  If you have received your key with the physical product go to www.microsoft.com/howtotell and check your product.  However, some counterfeit software is if convince you may not be able to identify it as such.

To check your PID the Win Key Press and have a break at the same time or open system properties in Control Panel, scroll to the activation section and look at the PID.  It will look something like this: 1234567-12345-067-54321.  The part that you are interested in is the section to three figures.  If it matches or is in one or two digits from the examples below, you probably have a "non-destinee for resale" MSDN subscription product key

Suspect: 065, 066, 067 068 for Windows 7 Ultimate edition, 220 area for the professional and the 230, 231 area for Home Premium.  There are probably others, but they should be close to those posted.

The product key you entered only can be used in some country or region. Activate windows where you bought it or buy a new product key.

I bought an Asian copy of the South of windows 7 in Malaysia 3 years ago and it has worked very well, recently I went to Singapore and decided to format my laptop and do very little maintenance, but now its gives me this rubbish, I am still in Southeast Asia, what I really need to go back to Malaysia to install it? seems very very annoying.

some licenses are geoblocked. You can try activating the phone and speak to a representative of activation and see if they will activate it for you.

  • Satellite U500 - Eco utility and Windows activation problem

    Hello everyone

I'm having some trouble with my satellite U500. Recently, I had to reinstall windows on my laptop and the problem is it not activate because of my motherboard was replaced some time ago (I have no more a recovery partition). I want to know is if it is possible to make it work again with recovery Toshiba dvd or by any other means.

The other problem involves toshibas eco utility. Whenever I try to install it im getting an error message empty all I can do is click ok and then the installation is aborted. If someone had issues similar or is able to help me I would really appreciate it thx in advance. :)

If you have original Toshiba Recovery disk use for installing Windows. Recovery image is already enabled, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you use a clean version that is another story.

I hope that the Toshiba service provider has replaced the motherboard correctly and rewritten DMI information.

Use please recovery disk and recovery image. This recovery image contains all of the tools of Toshiba and utility and all must be installed correctly including eco utility.

  • Cannot read Windows 7 OEM sticker and need to retrieve my CD key.

I stuck my sticker by my way of thinking of table that is the safest place to place, but it seems that someone scratched the sticker. Is it possible that I can get back my cd key. And my Windows is genuine as well. Help someone.

Unfortunately, you will need to purchase a new license, if your OEM sticker is missing.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7, you can use the reinstall Windows 7 without referencing the OEM product key:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    ------------------------------------

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

    -----------------------------

If its an OEM System Builder License and you had entered the product key, you can retrieve it:

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:

  • Can I reinstall the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional on a new hard drive without any problem of product/activation key?

Recently, my hard drive crashed and could be damaged, because I can not install anything on this subject.

I still have the CD of Windows XP Professional that has been used to upgrade to Windows 7.
So, if I buy a new hard drive and install XP first and then upgrade to windows 7. I'll be able to
to do this without side windows activation problems.
Or do I have to buy a new drive for windows?
PS: Is it important that it is the version of Windows 7 professional student discount?
    Thank you.

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

    Hi Verisetti,

Have you installed security software after formatting windows?

If so, you can uninstall the security software temporarily and check if you receive the access violation error.

If the uninstallation of security software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the software of safety accordingly. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

Note: Make sure that you install the security software after the trial.

What about Windows vista product ID, you can try to validate Windows and check if it helps.

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

You should have a sticker with the product key on your computer, on the bottom, or under the battery cover.  I try to type this key in and see if it accepts it.  If this isn't the case, you might not have an authentic version of Windows installed.
