Windows Explorer - library questions: remove groups

PROBLEM:

---------------------

WHAT I WANT IT to LOOK:

I don't know how it happened, but it's really annoying and I want to fix this ASAP. The problem is in my music folder, it shows the text in blue, and I don't want it looking like that. It has never been like this before. It just happened by chance.

QUESTION: How can I configure this library so that are not files in subfolders in the folder next-level-up?

I created a library to a folder in one of our (security) Server readers.  There are several levels of subfolders in the folder 'security '.  It looks like this:

In any case, I store older versions of ESP in folder under the 'history of ESP.  The problem is that they also show in the folder next-level-up ("ESP").  I thought they were duplicate files, and when I removed them from the folder of the "ESP", they have been removed from the folder under the 'history of ESP.  To make things worse, they don't go in the trash, but it disappeared completely.

Libraries are the aggregation of search systems - it is intended to launch a search and returns the results of what it finds from this location and all the children locations.

What you want to do, you probably don't want to use a library.

  • Problems with WINDOWS EXPLORER, can be removed and then re-installed, if yes how?

Explorer Windows is funky, I have several questions that are difficult to explain. He has just started acting funny last week, it's almost as if he works on his own! Help, please!

    Hello Donald,.

Explorer is an integral part of Windows, and you cannot uninstall it. To answer your concerns however, I wonder if you have a malware or virus infection? To check these I recommend the following:

    Malwarebytes' anti-malware: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html.

    SuperAntiSpyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html.

Most run name you use as an antivirus (I use Avast: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html).

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

  • Windows Explorer keeps returning to the file at the top of the file

I recently started to experience a problem with the Windows Explorer. When I display the contents of a folder with many files or folders in there, so that the vertical scrolling is necessary, I find that if I scroll down (by any method), after about seven seconds, the display returns to show the files/folders at the top of the list, regardless of the question to know if I still have my finger on the mouse button. Also, if I try to change a file name, if I'm not done in 7 seconds approximately., it restores the original file name and any change that I was typing is lost.

    Any suggestions?

Problem seems to be fixed, thank you.
Methods 1 and 2 did not find any problem. Method 3 (Clean Boot) disappear the problem (of the erratic behavior of windows Explorer). I removed several non-Microsoft services that I don't think are necessary and restored Normal startup. The cause of the problem is somewhere between the services that I stopped, but I don't know which application is the culprit. However, none of these services are required and the system boots faster without them!

I also discovered - finally - how to defeat the free trial of Bullguard I want!

    Thank you
    Keith.

  • Windows Explorer for Windows 7 - How to stop automatically sort my files

I have Windows 7.  Explorer Windows automatically sorts my files in each folder.  I put in "sort by..." Name ', so for now he is sorting alphabetically, but no matter what I put in 'Grading', it does it automatically.  But I want to be able to move the files to the folder in different orders, and then once I'm satisfied with the order, then I can change the name of each file and then choose to classify them alphabetically or otherwise.

For example, this is useful for a folder full of photos.  Let's say I have a folder with 50 photos in there of holiday, and I would like to re - order these photos, but I want to play visually with different orders until I have decide to order, I like most.  So I want to move each file/photo until I like the Decree.  To do this, I would open this particular folder in Windows Explorer, then select the "Large icons" view and then moving the photos until I like order.  And then once I have pictures in the order I want, then I would like to rename each picture (1, 2, 3, etc.) and then Windows Explorer say "sort by...» Nu.  That's how it was on my old computer, but I got XP and now I have Windows 7, but I can't imagine that Windows 7 would not let me do the same thing.  But the way it works for me now, Windows Explorer comes automatically orders/sorts my files depending on the option "sort by" I chose.  So if I change the name of the files (from 'Photo #25' to ' Photo #10 "'), it automatically goes this photo between" Photo #09 "and" Photo #11 ".»»  And if I try to move 'Photo #10' next to say "#37 picture"to see how they look next to each other, it won't let me. "

so... Is it possible to have Windows Explorer "NOT" sort my files until I have to say?

  • 'Remove' toolbar icon removed from Windows Explorer

    De : Catherine

I see that the deletion icon has been removed from the toolbar of windows Explorer.  Number of questions:

    1. How can I get it back?

    2. why it was deleted?  (what are the requirements user gathered?)

    3. a series of questions asked (see "Icons of the toolbar") on this same issue, but none of them responded by someone from Microsoft MVP (or similar).  Why is this?

    De : Andrew McLaren

Here's the right questions, I can't wait to see the answers.

My 2 cents... the toolbar in the Vista Explorer is not configurable. Soon, this was discovered by developers keen to add buttons for their own applications. You can add a 3rd party application "command bar" to explore; but you cannot change the toolbar provided by Windows.

As to why, I have no idea. I think (and this is only a guess) the Shell team tried for an experience user easier and more orthogonal; where there are fewer controls and a tendency to the only way to get something done. If you want to manipulate an object, such as a file, you select and right click on the object itself, then choose your action from the context menu. While there are more controls toolbar in Vista to manipulate the whole environment (Organization, views), rather than the individual objects in this environment. But then they went and he screwed up by adding the Open, Email, etc. to the toolbar when a file is selected. Why open a file, but not to delete? I do not know. Maybe the pressure during the beta user, diluted the original, clean, pragmatic design often determine theoretical purity in the design of Microsoft (not always a good thing, or the other).

Personally, I think that the new Explorer is messy, and needs a great usability of revision. But despite this, he is reasonably usable, today - better than Nautilus in Gnome!

As for MVP you reply... know that MVPs are quite ordinary people, hanging out in their free time. They have absolutely no formal obligation to Microsoft, or anyone else, to answer the questions at all. And in any case they are official voice for Microsoft (I speak as a MVP myself - but not in the Vista product specialty). They have jobs full-time that is clean, and they are not paid for answering questions in the forums. And microsoft.public.windows.vista.general is a busy group, so it is difficult to follow. The more interesting question is: why are there so few employees of Microsoft and, in particular, program managers, taking part in discussions to explain the design decisions?

Anyway, you can use the Community mechanism to make suggestions to Microsoft, as described here:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/library/gallery/components/Wn/3/locales/help/help_en-us.htm#GiveMSFeedback

'Suggestions for Microsoft' are enabled in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general, if you are using the web interface:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx

While it would be nice if the internal Microsoft people are more come with information about design decisions, there are at least a few blogs with dirty laundry has revealed. For the shell, there are:

    http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsexperience/default.aspx

    and

    http://shellrevealed.com/

If you dig deep enough you might find some background info here. There are also a few forums focused on the shell, which may give better answers.

    It will be useful,

  • Why don't the addition of metadata to be added manually in the iTunes library song change metadata in Windows Explorer and anywhere else?

Adding metadata to a song in the iTunes library has no effect anywhere else (as in Windows Explorer or the Groove music).

I would like to know if I have disabled this in error or if it is not guaranteed to all visitors.

Where it is not provided to customers, I would like to know how iTunes stores this metadata and whether it can be automatically sent to the library of Windows.

    Thank you.

A reason of changes committed to iTunes cannot be is covered in the tip of the user, fix the iTunes for Windows security permissions but iTunes usually returns to the original data if you probably don't see this particular problem. The other possibility is of several tags.

    Several tags (Mp3 files only)

The ID3 specification allows files to have several tags in different versions and languages, but iTunes does not work properly with simple tags. When multiple tags are present it can sometimes do not apply updates to the tag that reads back (probably update one of the others in the file) and it is also possible that the iPod and iTunes may have different rules for the tag that they give priority to. This could lead to situations where everything is properly organized in iTunes, but then inexplicably collapses on an iPod, or tracks that display different information in Windows Explorer or another media player. There are tags 3rd party editors that allow to manipulate several tags, but I don't have a casual recommendation. A workaround in iTunes is to use the context menu convert the ID3 Tags... > None a few times to remove all the labels, then convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3 to build a cool tag with information still held in the iTunes database. I've read in the past that iTunes is not completely compatible with the specification v2.4, although this may be the case, support is more however for v2.3 is widespread, then I would say using v2.3 to v2.4. All embedded work will be deleted so it must be replaced if wanted. For Windows users running a script named CreateFolderArt before and after the cleaning process tag should handle this.

Note that some data, for example the sides and the counties of game, is only stored in the database internal iTunes and not surrounded by tags.

I rename files a lot and depend on my shortcut useful and fast Alt_F_M to facilitate this several times a day when I organize things in Windows Explorer.  But recently, I've noticed this useless thing of Mediainfo it sort the shortcut gets stuck.  Of course I could hit the letter M twice, but what I really need to understand, is what determines what is placed on the table of the file (and Edit, View, etc.).  When I D training Mediainfo highlighted is not in the file. Only when the file or folder is highlighted is present in all its glory without glory.  I have search for mediainfo in C drive as drive D, where a lot of my programs residence without success.  Its not in Add/Remove Programs, of course.  Its just a litter from a previous uninstall which is always hanging around.

It is in the registry?  Group Policy?  Maybe someone could point me in a direction... :))

Please do not post links Microsoft.  I will never understand them I'm mentally deficient in Microsoft jargon.  Maybe his genetics.  :)

Just need to know what I'm doing to control what is displayed under these Menu items.  In fact, this raises another point: if I could control what is displayed here, it would be wonderful, and Windows Explorer would be even better than it already is... which is good enough as a file manager.  I tried to Total Commander, but found much more fluid to use Windows Explorer.  Here again, I am a fool.  :)

Its really amazing how the vast majority of computer users have no idea where everything is on their system.  When I draw to them with things of the Explorer Windows are starting to fall into place in their minds.  Its a shame Microsoft (and Apple is just as guilty as anyone) is not like the default mode to find stuff in the Windows Explorer operating system.  On the contrary, so many people use shortcuts (such as the office!) who just confuse greatly when they really need to find something manually. Then they totally lost.

I'm this list under files, folders, and online storage.  If this is the wrong category made me know please.

  • How can I remove topic of file Type in Windows Explorer?

How can I get the title of 'Type' of the track without having to move out of the site whenever I have access to a folder?  I can see the file simply type by looking at the extension of file and/or icon, in order to have a column dedicated to tell us the file type is not significant and placed automatically between two useful columns is just stupid - and the user have means of obtaining useful information permanently removed ' Type' column.  STUPID!

I already know the answer to that question is, 'it can't be done", so how can I communicate with Microsoft, who can do something, rather than be eliminated in a forum of people who all have the same question and no answer.  -Skyler

Skyler and others are right. Users (me) need to be modify by default displays windows Explorer then this file Type is NOT DISPLAYED. This would increase my available in 5 to 10% screen space. How do us set up so that the file type is not a default column in windows Explorer?

  • Why can I not see the files in my Windows Explorer document library?

I saved several PDF files in a folder in my library of documents, but I can't seen from Windows Explorer.  When I go to save another file, I can see the previous ones I saved from the browser to 'Rescue', but I don't see them anywhere else.  Why not?

The padlock icon means that the files are not shared with others.  If you right click on the folder and choose "Share with" menu, you can remove the lock (but doing so allows anyone on your network to see your files).

Regarding files jpeg appears not, have you tried pressing F5 to force the file to refresh?
If this does not work, please respond and let me know.  It could be that the files are not saved to your documents, but in fact a system such as "C:\Program Files\Ancentry\" folder.

  • I have this search browser "inbox" which blocked in windows Explorer. Any ideas on how to remove it?

    Original title: malware

I have this search browser "inbox" which blocked in windows Explorer. Any ideas on how to remove it?

    Hi Perry,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer recently?
    2. What do you mean by "I have this search browser"inbox"which blocked in windows Explorer?

If you think that your computer contains viruses, you can search for viruses using the Microsoft Safety Scanner, and then check if it helps.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
