I had a hard drive failure partial who gave no symptoms or errors except a VERY slow start-up and operation.  I tried to do a restore of the entire system of my Home Server 2011 backups to see if, perhaps, just the image was corrupt.  USB was created and all drivers copied from pilots for the full system restore folder.  Has started the full restoration of the system and loaded the missing NETWORK adapter driver by using the scanner for drivers.  Driver support was successful but no lights NIC and the message "cannot find server".  NETWORK card was working fine before, even with the bad hard drive and also after the abandonment of the restoration.  Installed the new drive hard C:-System and that was the main problem, BUT..., the later to restore attempt was always the NIC starts not problem.  Tried the driver directly at Gigabyte support and drivers drivers for the full restoration of the system of records from several different backups.  No love.  Just NIC does not start after the specified load successful pilot.

    All good advice?

  • We need a replacement for Windows Home Server that does not cost $700

We need a replacement for windows home server that does not cost as much as a PC. 2011 is not really available and 2008 has compatibility problems, because it is based on XP and Server 2003. None of the motherboard manufactures will support XP (thanks to MS) and more recent SATA drives do not work in my motherboard more old.

  • Cannot partition on Windows Home Server

    The problem:
We are currently the main C drive partitioned 20 GB and we cannot repartition try with several different partition tools.  The error via a tool, it's "the volume you have selected cannot be extended.  Other tools to give similar messages.  The hard drive is 250 GB RAID 1 mirror.

    What we tried:

A suggestion according to the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/841650 does not include the home server edition so can't take the risk that she clearly serve States own risk.  We tried Acronis partition software, G-Parted, diskpart.exe command BACK and Macrorit http://macrorit.com/partition-magic-manager/server-diskpart-fails-to-extend-system-partition.html

    Other suspicious Info:

    1. System Properties window says that the operating system is 'Windows Home Server'.

2 window Information System indicates that the operating system is 'Windows 2003 Small Business Server. "

The person who owns that server call purchase Home Server edition.  Not sure if this is related or not, but it's conflicting information to find a solution.

Bottom line, even if that server is outdated and not fully supported any longer, we hope to keep alive a little more long if possible if we simply repartition C drive and increase the free space.  Other than replacing the server suggestions are appreciated because they are not willing to spend the money to replace the entire server.

  • Non-native install copy of Windows Home Server

Hi, I was hoping that someone could erase something for me.

I have an OEM of Windows Home Server 2011 version that I bought in England, when he arrived in the post that I realized that it is a German copy, probably why it was so cheap.

I'm not really bothered about it, if I can just change the language during or even after the installation. My question is this a problem or problem further down the line or the whole operating system will be identical to a UK copy if I change the language and regional settings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd rather not go back if I can't.

  • Installation failure of OEM Windows Home Server 2011 - network continually devices do not found/installed

Tried to install OEM Windows Home Server 2011 integrated custom server with ASUS M489GTD Pro Mobo and AMD Phenom IIx6 1055 t processor. Installation (3 attempts) would not end when network devices do not have to be found. Having read a number of user group locations and found amount of siginficant discussion on similar type problems. Searched and copied device USB and NIC brand drivers but the installation of WHS 2011 has been unsuccessful. Have since with success installed Windows 8 Preview of consumer on the server by using 'Device Manager' to find installed drivers located in appropriate files and C: / drive. Question: a plan 'best case' would try to do a new installation install WHS 2011 on my server or to an 'upgrade' type which may keep the driver folders/files? Thank you

  • Windows Home Server - Hardware requirements

    Good afternoon

I am interested in creating a solution of Windows Home Server. I bought a Windows Home Server 2007 OEM media with the intention of creating my own solution, but never got around him a few years ago. My question for the community is the following: what are the hardware requirements for this solution?

For me, it's a question I think I should know, but for some reason any I am at a loss! I think I need at least 2 computers. The first is the server itself, the second is a stand-alone computer that connects to the network.

If you can give me some of the basic information I should know before diving into the Home Server I would really appreciate it. If you have all cards/articles that can help you with representation on what I need to do this would be as phenomenal.

    Thank you in advance!

I confess that I've never used WHS and have no idea about it but. I did some research on Google and found this: http://homeservershow.com/full-tutorial-on-how-to-install-and-setup-whs-version-1.html introduction which then link a fuller version here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9659/how-to-install-and-setup-windows-home-server/

  • Windows Home Server disk failure

Excuse the language, but I'm bricks now. I have aHP Ex470 with a volume of system of 500 Gig and two 500 gig drives. I have a seemed all our data are spread over two discs, but I can't be sure. Duplication is enabled.

He acted a bit strange in recent weeks and now, after a reboot, it just flashes red on the status indicator and it does not start. I also hear a worrying thud. I removed the two storage drives , then it starts, with some caveats of course. I could start with one of the installed disks but not the other.

I guess one of the disks is scrap. but the data should not always be safe? When I look at inte console under shared folders, it says on most of them that they're fails. In addition, some open but others, files in the ajecent folder, does not open because the program does not recognize the file format, even if it's the appropriate icon. And what should be my next move? I got a disc of 2 gigabytes, I intend to chuck in, if I do, will the system and data be safe? I know when the disc has not shown the other day, could not open some of the files, so as you probably understand, I am really worried now...
