  For several months, I tried to download this updated stupid, but for some reason any, that I don't understand, Windows Live Essentials 2011 will not download to my computer that runs on Windows Vista 32-bit.  My anti-virus software is Norton and doesn't seem to block any downloads software whatsoever, unless he invites me to block first.  I tried to download it from my Windows Update, I tried to download official Microsoft Web site and I even tried a download offline on one of the links posted here, but it will not download.  If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

• Windows Live Essentials (Beta) install problems

  Following the crash of my MSN Messenger (which was after a recommended update; the "Windows Live Essentials")... On the list of recommendations for "problem reports and solution." I read about Windows Live Essentials Beta, which I've tried to install without success. Tried several times, with a variety of error codes, for which the recommendations didn't work.

  Now, a new attempt for the 10th consecutive day, Live Essentials beta installer stops and says:

  "Install Windows Platform Update;

  My Windows updater does not offer such update and couldn't find where and how I could locate and install this update pre-required, before which it seems impossible to install Windows Live Essentials Beta (in fact to reinstall any version of MSN Messenger or Windows Live Essentials). My Windows Update is in automatic mode and constantly keeps downloading all important updates practically at the time of the question.

  Must be very very thankful to your recommendations of the kind!

• Windows Live Essentials 2011 install error 0 x 80070643?

  I tried to install Live Essentials 2011 several times without success. She always says a program is now settling, crt90-i386 error 0 x 80070643. I downloaded the full installer and also tried with no luck. I tried using the Task Manager to disable crt90-i386 nothing helps. I've been without the live programs including messenger for three weeks now. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with all updates installed. Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any response.

  A2. I figured as well (where my question). I guarantee you that using System Mechanic, etc., has caused your problem!

  Had not uninstalled System Mechanic & assuming you would do backups of any changes that you made with this dubious utility, chances are it would have been well after had restored these backups (i.e., undo changes made).

  But if you have uninstalled System Mechanic, these safeguards have probably disappeared. IMHO, the only way you're ever going to get installed WLE 2011 now would be to do a clean install of Win7. If you want to help with that, please let me know.

  I have completed, to the best of my knowledge, the updates that VISTA offers. And yet impossible to download Windows Live Essentials Beta.  It's problems for my computer by other means and it slows down.

  I did a great job keeping my computer clean of viruses and parasites. I did my due diligence on scans, defrags and keep clear of all dangerous downloads.

  It's time to transition my VISTA to Windows 7? More importantly,is it safe to do? I don't have $1,000 to invest in another computer?  Can I make the transition to Windows 7 without putting my computer at risk? Where should I start?

  I was right. The wlsetup - web.exe 1 MB file has been corrupted (or disliked my 3 pc at least). I downloaded the full stand-alone 210 mb file from this link and installed without problem. Now works.

  It happens on my PC and laptop. I uninstalled both Live Mesh, but no change. I removed the other Windows Live from the PC programs. Laptop doesn't have these. Still no change.
  Both running Vista Home 32-bit.

  Yesterday, Windows Live Essentials 2011 has been installed on my computer thanks to an automatic update from Microsoft, today I do not have access to my contacts of Trillian. I get the error "this contact is not associated to any of your current Windows Live Messenger connections online". How can I get rid of Windows Live Messenger? If this is not possible, then I want to know how to get rid of Windows Live Essentials completely.
