  • Windows live mail says it can't find my server

Windows live mail says it can't find my server

. Can't send or receive messages on behalf of skalb. The host ' P0P - server.socal.rr.com' is not found. Please check that you have entered the server name correctly.

    Server: ' P0P - server.socal.rr.com'
Windows Live Mail error ID: 0x800CCC0D
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 110
    Secure (SSL): No.
    Socket error: 11004

    Server: ' P0P - server.socal.rr.com'

    ...
Server: 'POP-server - socal .rr .com'

Is there something else I can do

Computers are stupid - they understand only what you type, not what you mean to type. You now have a dash '-' where there should be a period of '.'

Please do, this time be very careful for this type exactly in the area:
    pop - server.socal.rr.com

Use only lowercase letters and note that there is a hyphen between pop and server, then the periods between the other bits.

  • Windows Live Mail with Googlemail - can receive but not send

    Hello

We try to access our emails from work (all transferred to googlemail) using Windows Live Mail.  I followed various tutorials and have set up new accounts on IMAP, port entering with the port 993 out 465. I made sure the right boxes are checked. Messages download fine but just won't send... I have a number now sitting in my Outbox.

I get the error message is Windows Live Mail error 0x800CCC0D, 11003 socket error

Can someone help on this please, I tried everything and am now ready to throw my computer out the window.

    Thank you

    Chrissie

Not sure if anyone is still looking for an answer to this question, but I thought I got this post just in case.

First of all... Microsoft had it wrong. You need not configure GMail as an IMAP. It is a misunderstanding that began with the introduction of Windows Mail (who said laughingly in the help files it would not work with gmail at all) the settings that I used successfully with Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail are the following.

If implemented the first use manual configuration to pop. If an already existing account setting just right click on the account name and choose Properties.

    Incoming settings:

    Name of the server: pop.gmail.com

    Port: 995

    Select: SSL

    Use clear text authentication

    The outgoing settings:

    Name of the server: smtp.gmail.com

    Port: 465

    Select: SSL

    Letter: My server requires authentication.

Note: Select SSL before you enter the port number, because by default it automatically by default (inbound/outbound of 995 25) port number.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows live mail - so I can only watch old messages on one computer, unless I have export messages to another PC?

    pls see above.

Those are all stored locally on a single computer if you have a POP3 account.  If you have an IMAP account, then they can be shared and synchronized across computers.  This is also true if you use Outlook.com / Hotmail.  For these questions, you're better off asking these topics here in the forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/email

  • Windows live mail used compared to outlook express

I prefer windows live mail. How can I remove the outlook express program that keeps popping up from time to time?

    Hi Bobwisda,

Thanks for posting. To remove Outlook Express, follow these steps. Please note that you will need the Windows XP CD to reinstall this component.

    Click Start
    Click on Control Panel
    Double-click Add / Remove programs
Once the icon Add / Remove programs is open, click the Add/Remove Windows components on the left side of the screen.
You should see that outlook Express is listed when the dialog box opens.
Just remove the check mark from the box next to Outlook Express and click on "next".
You will see a progress bar as Outlook Express is being uninstalled, and when it's done, you can simply click Finish.

    Outlook Express has been removed.

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

I managed to solve the problem.  I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email.  The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.

IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.
