"windows live support" scam
I received a call from a tone of voice Indies declaring what he called a "windows live support" and that my computer has been hacked. "Red flashing lights here to demonstrate that your computer has been hacked." I was suspicious, but done what said the voice. I opened the event viewer that showed many caveats and warnings from computer work bad... some 15,000 of them spanning over 2 years. They wanted me to download a file, but I refused and said I want to remember them. There was a bit of drama involved in the incident. I did a search on google for "windows live support" which returned several hits as well as some phone numbers. I called an and the voice of the East Indies told me I just had been called and that he had spoken with 'Chrissy '. He also informed me that the 'service' to clean my computer will cost at least $249. I refused, hung up and did a search for "windows live support scam." The following link came ( http://darranboyd.wordpress.com/2011/05/21/windows-live-support-scam/ ) who wore a similar activity for the past two years of several regions of the world. It is very interesting reading. All this seems like a scam and I do not understand why Microsoft has apparently done nothing to that users aware of this problem and/or close this type of scam.

Hello
Believe me, we receive dozens of these reports on a daily basis.
Go to the forum and search for following scam.
This has happened for many years. The main problem with trying to stop these scams, it's that the authors know how to stay hidden in the countries where the application of the law may be missing.

I need a password reset on an old e-mail account linked to my xbox 360. (the enamel of related Xbox Live account). However after going around in circles with the xbox and Windows Live support person will help me. I have provided more than enough evidence that its me (old/new address, debit card info AND xbox console ID AND serial number for information). And I am NOT to START a NEW GAMERTAG due the fact that I have spent money under my current gamertag. Now they are misleading me to the moderators of Windows with this problem. So now what?
E-mail bellsouth.net and its related help/support page has since been purchased, reformatted and dissolved for their new name like ATnT. Their support tech/operators won't help me as well since it is a problem of bellsouth and not an ATnT. But the email is bellsouth.
I can't do any kind of password reset because I forgot my secret question answer. A mistake in good faith, but one that keeps this issue to be resolved. I have provided a list of answers to him but still no help and I keep getting turned down and rejected.
Windows answers forums are for technical problems and we do not have any control over the resets password for all Windows, XBOX and Windows LIve accounts.
You will need to contact Windows Live Support as Kim said.

In all cases, the response was to post this question on another forum. MOST of the links proposed did not work or was broken. Since this seems to be a CONSISTENT and PERSISTENT error - should not be addressed by MICROSOFT engineers, NOT a public forum?
In my case I've deleted and reloaded Windows Live several times to include remove entries from my system registry. My suspicion is that there is some sort of error of data in the mail store, but there are NO tools available to scan/identify/repair the Windows Mail store used by Windows Live Mail.
Help, please!
