I was remove tons of old e-mail when my PC froze and I had to re - start. Now, all the emails that I had highlighted when everything locked have a blue message 'I' on the copy of body with the message: Message canoe is located. Contents of this message cannot be found. Then a 'white -I- in-a-blue-circle' error message opos upwards: an unknown error has occurred.

You have probably a mismatch between what the database thinks is in terms of messages and what is really there.  Try to compact and repair the database with my utility Windows Mail (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and see if that solves the problem.  Beware also of the antivirus software like that can cause similar problems.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 see also www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for background on how WinMail stores its messages.

  • Windows 7 update removes Windows Mail

    Hello.

I transferred Windows Mail Vista for my new laptop which has Windows 7 64 bit installed.

Whenever I leave Windows Update make the updates, it removes Windows Mail and the only way to recover is to perform a system restore, which of course means that I lose the previous updates.

Is there a way I can prevent illegally software update without permission?

    Alan.

Running Windows Mail (the mail in Vista by default Client) is NOT supported in Windows 7.

    That being said, see http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail/msg/91a3ec0aabc5d266

  • How to remove 'hidden' contacts that do not appear in my contact list in Windows Mail?

I have a contact in mail. I guess that it was put there by a few emails I inadvertently opened. Anyway when I try to fill in the "to" box on a message that I normally get an AutoComplete list, I put in the first letter of the name, if there are several names starting with the same letter. Now, when I start typing a name with the letter 'L', instead of the 4 names in my contact list that start with 'L', I get the full name of a spammer, let's call him "loser at lumphead dot com. When I went to my list of contacts to remove this stupid I couldn't find this address! So I have 3 questions. Where Mail did in fact raise the file which has the coordinates? How an address to get into the system like that and stand out of the list of contacts? Most important: how to remove a contact 'hidden' like that?

Thank you for your quick response.
No, Shawns response suggested to go to the C:\users\myname\contacts file and delete it from there. I had tried before when I tried to locate the list of contacts somewhere outside Mail (sorry I forgot to mention that). But the contacts Vista file did not show this 'hidden contact' either. But further down the page, I found an answer to a similar problem. Gary van in reply to "re: delete contacts autocomplété" gave this link.

    http://www.Winhelponline.com/articles/264/1/utility-to-clear-recently-used-email-addresses-in-Windows-mail.html

This leads to a file called winmailmru.zip. This tool allowed me to bring up a window showing ALL the contacts which it previously 'hidden', with options to remove them. I selected and deleted. Problem solved.

But I still wonder: where was hiding the contact "hidden"? If it wasn't not in Contacts of Vista directory where Mail was from?  How this winmailmru.exe utility it found? It is also strange that the contact in question seems to have the ability to bypass the selection popup box that shows generally all other contacts beginning with the letter typed and force his way into the 'To' box, excluding the possibility of chooseing another contact. I am happy that my immediate problem is solved, but I wonder if the ability of a person sending a mail to 'hide' a normal contact and overide process in Mail is a security problem or just a nuisence? Anyway, thanks again for putting me on the path to the solution.

  • Remove address Autofill E-mail in Windows Mail on Vista

    Help please!

Could someone please tell me how to remove permanently address unwanted email from Windows Mail using Vista.

I tried the sugguestion of signs to the wrong e-mail address and click on delete, but it still appears when you create a new email.

I found disable aumotatic filling but I would like to use this feature.  Just remove the incorrect email address that are not in Contacts.

Incorrect email is always one that appears first.  Appreciate if anyone knows how to remove it please.

    ValBware

As you already know, I'm sure, that semiautomatic retains only the last 29 names you used.
As you do more by e-mail, unwanted and unused names will take place off the coast by the new and current.
    Just be patient.
There isn't any other way to my knowledge.
And no, there is no way to disable AutoComplete other than to enter in the registry. Unless you are an accomplished computer user, I would recommend you leave the register.

  • How to remove my email contacts that I no longer use in windows mail?

    Original title:

    Windows Mail

I try to find how to remove my email contacts that I no longer use in windows mail.  Is there a way to do it, and how you can do it.  I tried but the minute I start typing anything in the line it brings up all these old email addresses I don't want anymore.

Can I assume that you have turned off contacts that appears when you start typing the address? WinMail only remembers 29 semi-automatic recipients and you should remove those deceased, or all.

  • How to remove the elements in the "Deleted items" folder using Microsoft Windows Mail?

This used to work, but I was not able to remove items from the deleted items folder and it takes a lot of space.  I used to be able to do it and it automatically deletes the items when I closed Windows Mail (it is always set up to do, incidentally, does not yet), but now it does not work. I've tried everything. I used the link at the top of the page coming down and clicked on "Empty Deleted Items Folder", but it does not work.

I tried to download Windows Live Mail and it won't work on my computer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Maybe could turn the setting and then turn again. Sometimes it works, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did not help, or if you have already tried.

    Take note of the following:

    1. I've never used only 8 years old, Windows Mail
    2. Windows Mail is not supported.

The deleted items folder has a clean button on it? This can empty it completely. Another thing to consider is that your e-mail service can remove items deleted periodically. However, as you say, it takes place, so you can delete them manually.

Alternatively, you can consider changing the e-mail programs. You said that Windows Live Mail did not work. You can try an older version, because I don't think not 2012 works on Vista (based on absolutely no evidence, by the way) another option to consider is Mozilla Thunderbird. If you have Microsoft Office and it includes Outlook, certainly use it.

That's the only advice I have. If this does not help, I don't have anything else for you.

  • How to remove "Windows Mail"

I have a Toshiba laptop and "Windows Live Mail" and "Windows Mail", how do I remove "Windows Mail" from my computer.

I've been in the program Install & Remove Control Panel, but can not find all titles with "Windows Mail" to remove. ?

    Rick

    Hello RichardShiel,

Windows mail is installed with the Windows Vista operating system, and therefore cannot be uninstalled. Surprisingly enough, it cannot even be disabled via the Windows features turn on or off the option programs and features.

However, if you have the version of Vista Ultimate (Please note that I edited this post like initially, I said Pro and Ultimate; it was incorrect, my apologies) you should be able to disable through Group Policy.

    1. press on the Windows and R key to bring up the menu run.

    2. in the Run menu type: gpedit.msc

    3. If you do not have gpedit on your version of Vista, you receive an error message. If you have gpedit on your machine to the Group Policy Editor is now displayed.

    4. once the Group Policy Editor is open look in the left pane and click the option for the Computer Configuration. A list will now be expanded.

    5. then add to the list under administrative templates.

6 look down this list and develop, the Windows components option.

    7. look in the right pane and scroll down until you come to Windows Mail.

    8. double-click on that.

    9. you should now see two options. (a) turn off the function of communities and the b) disable the Windows Mail application.

    10. double-click on the option turn off Windows Mail to open the Properties window.

    11. in the Properties window, click the active radio button, and then click the OK button.

12 Finally exit the properties and the Group Policy Editor.

    13. the next time you start your machine that Windows Mail should be disabled.

As I said this should work if you have the Group Policy Editor.

    3. Click on an item to select it, hold the SHIFT key and click another to select both and everything in the meantime;

  • Remove Windows Mail

I installed Windows Live Mail, but cannot uninstall Windows Mail.  It isn't in my programs/uninstall.  Every email that comes in my new Windows Live Mail also comes in my old Windows Mail.  Therefore, I must remove two programs.

    I have Vista.

Windows Mail cannot be deleted, it is part of Vista and permanent.  Simply stop using it or remove your email account information there.  You can also delete all the shortcuts that you can find.

Whenever I have delete a message in Windows mail removes 2 at a time - he has never done this before.  How can I stop it?

I don't think it's a matter of database, but you can try compacting and repairing the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/).

It might be a mouse problem. Try to use the keyboard to delete and see if you get the same
