How to remove "Windows Mail"

I have a Toshiba laptop and "Windows Live Mail" and "Windows Mail", how do I remove "Windows Mail" from my computer.

I've been in the program Install & Remove Control Panel, but can not find all titles with "Windows Mail" to remove. ?

Rick

Hello RichardShiel,

Windows mail is installed with the Windows Vista operating system, and therefore cannot be uninstalled. Surprisingly enough, it cannot even be disabled via the Windows features turn on or off the option programs and features.

However, if you have the version of Vista Ultimate (Please note that I edited this post like initially, I said Pro and Ultimate; it was incorrect, my apologies) you should be able to disable through Group Policy.

1. press on the Windows and R key to bring up the menu run.

2. in the Run menu type: gpedit.msc

3. If you do not have gpedit on your version of Vista, you receive an error message. If you have gpedit on your machine to the Group Policy Editor is now displayed.

4. once the Group Policy Editor is open look in the left pane and click the option for the Computer Configuration. A list will now be expanded.

5. then add to the list under administrative templates.

6 look down this list and develop, the Windows components option.

7. look in the right pane and scroll down until you come to Windows Mail.

8. double-click on that.

9. you should now see two options. (a) turn off the function of communities and the b) disable the Windows Mail application.

10. double-click on the option turn off Windows Mail to open the Properties window.

11. in the Properties window, click the active radio button, and then click the OK button.

12 Finally exit the properties and the Group Policy Editor.

13. the next time you start your machine that Windows Mail should be disabled.

As I said this should work if you have the Group Policy Editor.

  • How to remove Windows Defender from Vista?

Anyone know how to remove Windows Defender? It is not on the list of programs that can be uninstalled. When I try to remove it from the tree, I get a message that only a "TrustedInstaller" can remove it.

It's been nothing but trouble I got my new PC in August. I spent in Avast and MalwareBytes, but I can't stop the system to get scans in tenacious Defender. I wanted to get rid of it because it will not update install. It keeps telling me that there are updates available, but the progress bar comes in with a small piece of the execution and the stalls.

Updates Windows continues to tell me it is another Defender update available and also stops at install.

Looks like Microsoft could do a better job of coordinating its products. I'm ready to throw the new computer and become a ludites.

    Help!

I uninstall Norton before that I installed Avast. I went to 'Services' and 'arrested' Defender. Then I went to 'Properties' and 'Disabled' Defender. This should at least stop notifications. You can't repeat to you, I got it.

  • How to reindex WIndows Mail

How to reindex Windows Mail?  The structure of Windows Mail files is different when played back via the Explorer with the program itself. Records that I renamed or deleted the last months within Windows mail are still visible and the items in deleted folders for example contain dozens of emails when played back through Explorer, even though it is empty when it is seen by mail.

I tried to export, but it matches the version exploring rather than the version of Mail and falls down so I try and do any archive.

I would like to clean it up so that "dead" emails aren't always in disk space, and so I have a little more confidence that a restore will work, they appear on the search results.

Try to compact and repair the database.

Change back to normal if maximized properties do not work and follow these steps.

Any window that you want to resize all the time must be the last closed window.

Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

The repost in the forum OK this is not resolved.

  • How to remove the mail profile in windows 7

I am trying to remove a mail profile in my new system windows 7. I know how to do it on Vista (as below), but this does not work in windows 7 and can't find the info anywhere.  Can anyone help please?

How to remove the profile under XP or Vista. (1) open the control panel. 2) click on user accounts, and then click surCourrier. (3) the email configuration dialog box opens and you can delete email profile as you wish.

    Hi vanziggy,

In the Panel, it has a link to "Add or remove user accounts". This is not the place (in Windows 7).

In Control Panel, in category view - a small drop-down menu at the top right, there is a section "user accounts and Family Safety", which is a link.

In the dialog box accounts users and family security, there is a box option, where you can add or remove profiles (e-mail). -Bob

I've updated to Windows Live Mail and want to know how and if I should delete Windows Mail?

You can do that because Windows Mail is part of the Vista operating system. It cannot be uninstalled.

1 WM and WLM will co-exist.  There will be no conflicts.

    2. all you need to do is to name WLM as your default program and to stop using WM.

  • Remove Windows Mail contacts

I had continuous problems with AutoPlay in Windows Mail.  One of my contacts has a new address.  When I start typing the name, Mail completed entry with the new correct address.  But when I hit enter or tab, it also adds in the old incorrect address.  I don't mean suggests.  I mean it adds to use, even if the old address is never in the AutoComplete list.  Emerges nowhere.

I went in regedit.exe, found the entries AutoComplete and double-click on each line of code until I found two addresses for the contact.  A new, which should be there, and the old that I had supposedly deleted.  I've removed the two of them, who intend to start over, you exit the editor, restarted my computer and a new email.  Not good.  The old incorrect address was added in, just like before, but before he did not appear in the completion list.  What gives?  Thank you.

Semiautomatic application holds the LAST 29 contacts that you had used. The list is refurnbished because send you an email to several different contacts. Finally you do not use one will get eliminated.
But if you do not want to wait, you can clear the full AutoComplete list and start over.
    Here is the tutorial:
    http://www.Winhelponline.com/articles/245/1/how-to-clear-the-email-auto-complete-entries-in-Windows-mail.html

    Excerpt...

Deletion of all entries by semi-automatic email

To clear all entries by semi-automatic entered e-mail, you can remove the key from the recently used address itself. Use the following steps:

    Click Start, type the following command, and press {ENTER}

cmd /k reg removes /f of "HKCU Mail\Recently addresses used.

Type EXIT to close the command prompt window.

Will open your Windows Mail, see if you get something when you type a letter in the field. It should be offered none of the list.

  • How to access Windows Mail from another PC on the network home wireless.

I have Windows Mail already implemented on the Dell XPS with Vista. We have added a second Netbook with Windows 7 on wireless network at home. How can I access the widows of the second PC Mail account? Thank you

The solution mentioned by others you will only see
new entrants on multiple computers.  It will allow you to see the
messages sent from a computer to be seen on several computers.  In the order
to do the latter, you would need to move to an IMAP or HTTP account rather
    as POP3.

Note this time Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail require that their message
store reside on a local hard drive, not on premises that are not accessible via the network
    drive.
