Windows mail vs hotmail live and import

My old computer using windows live for email - account a hotmail, comcast six accounts.

What is the difference between windows mail and windows live mail?

How to make the accounts, with the folder structure, I created from my old computer to the new computer? old xp operating system, new vista.

Hello Ocoee,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Windows Mail comes with Vista. It has not been updated. It can only access POP and IMAP e-mail accounts, not Hotmail. If you access multiple e-mail accounts, all messages come in an Inbox.

Windows Live Mail is newer and has gone through a few updates. It can access POP, IMAP and Hotmail accounts. He separated from Inbox, etc. for each e-mail account.

Are you able to create new folders and move data in this folder, if it looks like your previous structure?  Please let me know if you're still having problems.

When you set up your account send only, you should be able to disable the e-mail is.  Under the general tab of the account properties, you will find a box "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing".  Uncheck this option.  You can include any string of fake server, you want the name of the incoming server.  The account will never check incoming mail, but you can use it to send mail.

Try to remove your e-mail account, and then compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/), and then add your e-mail account back (no messages will be lost).  If this does not it, see if you can log on to your e-mail account through your email provider's website and see if it works.  If not, then contact your email provider and explain the problem.

    1. temporarily disable your antivirus software. See if the problem stops.
    2. your account could be damaged. Delete the account. Re-set up your account.

There are extreme measures you can take.  One is either movement store the content of the message to another directory and WinMail starts it will be a clean message store (or you can simply rename the directory from the old Windows Mail message store and then create a new directory named Windows Mail which will begin to empty).  The other is to back up the registry key to Winmail (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm) and then remove it and then start WinMail and who must rebuild the registry key.  The first allows to compensate for a corrupt message store (you can use the file |) Import | Messages into the plu message store you renamed) and the second allows to compensate for a corrupted under the WinMail key registry hive.  I suspect the first manoeuvre will fix the problem, but I don't know.

But those who are basically last stations.  I would like to save things before you do anything that anyone else.

  • Windows mail sends no message and said and was error if I try to delete

My Windows mail client, version 6, stopped sending messages that remain in the Outbox.  If I try to delete the message, it indicates an error has occurred and suggest that to consult the community.  Any ideas?

Thank you. Installation of service pack 1 seems to have done the trick.  We have a second device also running Vista Home Premiun with service Pack 3, which has a similar problem - this time the email get sent, but a copy is left in the Outbox.  In addition, if windows mail is asked to run just after the start, it fails.  During my recent attempt error 0x800CCC0F were reported.  A new attempt normally succeeds.

The hotfix download, KB951090, suggested in a response to a similar problem I used also failed on the other computer.  I'll try the tool suggested to see if it works.  Benachie7

  • I can't access my emails in windows mail - ask his password and account name?

I usually open windows mail and emails download automatically.  I opened the windows mail yesterday and he asked for a user name and password - I have tried everything I know possible and not to accept anything.  I really need to access my emails and do not know what to do.

    Any ideas?

I can see previous emails received and sent etc. but I can't send or receive and he asked just the user name and password.

Make sure also that you have not intefering antivirus software.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 and it could help to compact and repair the database of Windows Mail (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).

  • Cannot log on to Windows Mail or incorrect usename and password error message. I can connect on webmail.

Windows Mail will not sign to the server.  I get the pop up window to log on using the user name and password.  I type them in and get the error message.  I can use webmail and log in without any problem.  Exact error message follows:

Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR [AUTH] wrong username or password.', Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC92

You set antivirus software to analyze mail?  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 disable any email scanner.  Remove your email account, then close WinMail.  Compact and repair the database to fix all the problems (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and then add your account to e-mail back again.  Usually, which solves the problem if you have blocked antivirus interference.

  • . All of my Windows mail folders were empty and all applications on the toolbar are dark, when I turned on the computer. How can I get back them?

My husband and I share the same email address and use the same computer.  All e-mails and applications on the toolbar 'his side' of the computer are very good, but me disappeared including send/receive.   I got emails that I downloaded, but do not read.  There an idea of how to recover emails and applications?

It is not at all what you mean by the 'toolbar '.   You use Windows Mail in Vista?  If so, you can search the *.eml try to locate emails (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for background), but you will need to provide more information, because it is not clear if you do not see the files or toolbars in WinMail (try to view |) Page layout) or if your all start menu disappeared.  You can also try a system restore, but it seems that you should also check for viruses and malware, according to your description.

  • Windows Mail keeps popping up and interrupting the games. How can I turn off notifications?

    original title: disabling windows messaging

Windows mail keeps himself and interfere with games, etc... How permanently disable it... i have vista and it drives me crazy... only happened because he went for repairs after port adapter ac kept sparks

Windows Mail does not start by itself.  Go to start | Search and type in msconfig and then disable startup items selectively until you discover which program is responsible for the outbreak of Winmail.  Ask the store what they were doing.

  • Windows Mail stop the send and receive

I've had Windows Mail on my system for 2 years now and suddenly he began to have problems with the sending and receiving of mail. This isn't 100% of the time, but intermittent - it was OK for the whole day for example, but now it is unable to connect and comes up with the error 0x800CC13.

My iPhone is fortunately still downloading mail in the meantime so I don't think it's a server problem.

I use Windows Vista and maybe it's a coincidence, but I don't know that this only started happening since the latest version of Windows Update...

All / any advice would be welcome, I use Windows Mail to work, and this is really a scarecrow.

    Thank you very much!

  • I had problems to send messages from windows mail. My ISP tried to help without result. Can windows mail be completely uninstalled and reinstalled without problems

My mail winedows never gave me any problems.  One day it just wouldn't let me send email.  Many calls and the help of my ISP and hours of typing in info on their part still never solved the problem.  I wonder if I can uninstall the windows messaging, reinstall direct mail, then put in the settings manually or is it pre-fill my previous version information.

There is usually a little more of an error message, but... Try to compact and repair the database.

Also, make sure that your antivirus will not e-mail scan.

It is very important. Then, give me answer as soon as possible.

  • 0x800CCC17 error number. Can not get into Windows Mail. System username and password issues

No detail of password change is obvious, so no access.  Just looks like a mistake.

Sometimes, that is.  Try to delete the account, and then compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/), and then add the account back again.
