Windows Media Player shared videos are not displayed
Windows Media Player sharing videos?
I started recently by using windows media player media sharing features and I wanted to share 2 seasons of a TV show from my office to my lap top, I added in, but after 20 minutes they still did not show again. They just take a while to appear here? And if so how long about?
PS I know that videos can be shared as I already have a video shared between computers.
Hi Nahtzee,
You can add videos again and check or on the destination computer, close Windows Media Player and check.
Step 1: You can check if the types of files to your videos (seasons) are supported by Windows Media Player. See the article below:
Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992
Step 2: Ensure that the seasons or the videos are available in the follow-up case. For more information on the issue of follow-up and localization, see the link below:

Photos videos are not displayed in Windows Media Player
Original title: no photos in lib
all photos and videos wmp icon only no pic
Hi James,
Welcome to the community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. We need additional information to provide the best solution:
1 have had any changes made to the Windows Media Player settings?
2 were the images displayed properly before the question?
Try these steps and check:
Method 1:
If your computer has problems to access your collection of digital media files in the Windows Media Player library, try to use the of the Windows Media Player library Troubleshooter to fix the problem. The troubleshooter makes sure that Windows Media Player is installed correctly on your computer and checks if the Player library is corrupted.
Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-library-Troubleshooter
Method 2:
Windows Media Player automatically organizes files in the Player library according to the media available for the files.
Change how you display items in the Windows Media Player library
In addition, visit these links and check:
The Windows Media Player library: frequently asked questions
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/Windows-Media-Player-library-frequently-asked-questions
Hope this information helps. If you have any other questions feel free to respond and we would be happy to help.

Windows Media Player 12 - Video DVD plays but the images are not displayed
I have a DVD that we created with Adobe Encore. It has a mixture of video and still images to a timeline. I play this back on a new computer Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 12. The DVD plays back fine until it reaches the fixed image on the timeline. At that time the reading shows just the last frame of the video to the video portion. The audio continues, but it does not show the image. We tried multiple image formats, and nothing seems to work (.jpg, .tiff, .psd). The video is very good reading but with CyberLink DVD player and on a standard TV/DVD player.
Any thoughts?
GuyHi Guywestermeyer,
Check to see if the following is useful.Method 1:
Run the troubleshooter in Windows Media Player Settings and check if that helps.
Method 2: You can try to download the required Codecs. Refer to this article for more information on Codecs.

Just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and am having a problem with Windows Media Player 12 and its indexing. In WMP11, you could put all your pictures in your "My pictures" folder (so they appear in the Media Center) but then exclude it from indexing in WMP11, then it would not bog you try to index all things.
This option has been removed in WMP12. If you want images to appear in the Media Center, they must be included in your WMP12 library. (Even if Media Center does not use the WMP library to ALL display pictures - she designs per file)
Because I have thousands of photos and videos, this is a major problem at any time an Extender is turned on, because for some reason when you start an Extender it forces a new scan of all your media. It is in turn completely failed the system leaving the main centre of the media both all completely unnecessary extensions while CPU hits 100%.
So I have my girlfriend trying to listen to music in the bedroom on the XBOX360 giving me eyes stink saying "This sucks." and my daughter in the TV room to complain than his scooby-doo show "keeps skipping and stopping."

There are several ways to do it, however, I offer an option to try more than one backend solution.

Open Firefox Windows Media Player for video files
I need to make Firefox to open the actual Windows Media Player application (not a plugin, the window real app) when clicking on video links, for example, WMV. These file types are already associated in Windows Explorer with WMPlayer, but this has no effect on Firefox.
What happens now is that, after you have clicked on a video, I get a screen black with yellow icon of VLC Player (VideoLAN VLC installed on my PC) in the Center and no video. I don't want to launch VLC or internal plug-ins.
You can change the type of application opens for each kind of type in Firefox options.
> Options > Applications > (example) SWF file > select everything on the right side (e.g. use of ShockWave Flash for Firefox > Set another use, find Windows Media Player)

Came across this problem trying to put an AVI in powerpoint presentation for the school. I don't know how this happened or how to fix the error. The error indicates that windows media player is not the right codec to play the video. However, when I sent it myself and opend it upwards on another computer, which doesn't have powerpoint, it plays very well.
I did some research as to what a codec for windows media player, that's what code and decodes the video compression. However, when I tried to download the appropriate codec file, there is nothing. Not even useful workaround solutions.
In addition, went and downloaded quicktime and it could not read the video either.
Any help or ideas would be greatly apreciated. Thank you!
Hi DaisyReaper,
Are you able to play .avi files?
You can use your favorite search engine to download and install the latest codec for Windows Media Player. Subsequently, check if you are able to read .avi files.
Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.
