Windows media player won't erase music

my Media Player, somehow, made several copies of my music. I could do it on an accident or something I guess, idk. All I do is erase the entire library in media player. But when I tried to delete the songs, it only show this small window that says WORK and when goes all the music is still there. Please help, its very frustrating.

Sorry if I have errors of grammar in this issue.

Hi Aaron,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused. I'll certainly try and help you remove all of the Windows Media Player duplicate entries.

This problem can also occur if the Windows Media Player library database is corrupted.

Could you please answer a few troubleshooting questions before we start?

1. Since when are you facing the issue?

2. do you have an anti-virus installed on the computer program?

3. are you aware of any recent software or the hardware in the computer changes?

You can run the Troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library and check if it helps.

You can also run the Troubleshooter in Windows Media Player Settings and check.

If the problem persists, you can erase the Media Player database and check if it helps.

To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, all programs, Accessories, run, type%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

Select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Step 2:

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, click run, type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoftand then click OK.

If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, all programs, Accessories, run, type%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

Select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Here is an article on removing items in the media library. Take a look and check.

Hope this helps and provide us more information if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.

    Hello

This could be due to problems with Windows Media Player database might be corrupted.

You did the changes for the Windows Media Player settings or files associated with it before this problem?

As with any database, the information that is stored in the database or the database itself can be damaged. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from the database. However, the database may be corrupted in such a way that Windows Media Player is unable to recover the database.

I suggest you to rebuild the database and check if it solves the problem for you. Follow the steps:

    Method 1:

    You can follow the steps:

    (a) press simultaneously the Windows and R. box, type the following command and press ENTER:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

(b), select all the files in the folder, and then click delete in the menu file.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Check if you are able to add files to the list of add-in player. If this is not the case, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps to solve the problem:

    (a) press Windows and R key together. Type the following command and press enter:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

    (b) select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the File menu.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

I use to be able to copy CDs on my computer. Windows Media Player now, says "connect a burner, then restart the player."

There must be something simple that I know, I'm just bad at computers :)

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
