Windows Server 2003 vmdk / blue screen / VMX missing

Hello

We come across a RAID failure that has had a number of machines with it. I'm trying to restore a particular machine that has replicated off-site using MRS. Unfortunately I can't recover the usual way as the Protection status is "not configured" and I can't restore because the connection state is "inaccessible". See below:

Unable to protect VMS 'FTP' because of the status of the non-copyrightable connection "inaccessible".  The virtual machine must be properly connected before it can be protected.

This machine has not been saved either. Lessons have been learned.

So, I have since discovered that the VMDK for this machine is sitting in a folder on a store of data on the side of DR. However, there is no attached vmx file and I tried to recreate the virtual computer by using the standard virtual machine settings, but there bluescreening at startup:

ftp.png

Unfortunately, I'm unable to F8 for CHKDSK but I think it's more to do with a configuration problem on the side of the virtual machine rather than on the side of the BONE. Perhaps because of the machine version (which was 7) and we are now running 8 and higher, the CPU / RAM installation etc? I don't even know if it's an OS 32-bit or 64-bit.

Is that what I can do to get this working?

Everything is good!

He joined a vm 2008 just if I could go down the files. Recreated the vm as 'typical' and handed over in place the VMDK and only, she went and booted up!

Needless to say I took a snapshot and will get this saved mofo tonight.

Thanks for the suggestion, if.

  • How to enlarge the screen of Windows Server 2003 on VMware Server 2?

    People,

Hello. Because Windows 7 is not compatible must be installed to PeopleSoft PIA, I need to install VMware Server 2, and then install Windows Server 2003, which is compatible with PIA, on the virtual machine.

But when I open Windows Server 2003 on the virtual machine, Win2K3 screen is very small, and its size is of about 1/4 of the screen of my computer screen. It is not comfortable to work for a long time.

People know how to enlarge the screen of Windows Server 2003 in a virtual machine VMware Server 2 so that its size covers all of my computer screen?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you already installed the VMWare tools in your guest OS in VMWare? In general, it helps a lot to be able to redefine a larger screen definition.

Certainly, you CAN install the basic version... but please understand WHAT it is... Windows Server Core is a * minimum installation * OS - with little or no graphical user interface.  So what you've seen is exactly as expected!

If you want to either run a single Ubuntu VM on a host of 2003 or run a single VM 2003 on an Ubuntu host?

Then I'd clearly vote for host of 2003 for the following reasons:

-installation of VMserver 2 on 2003 is trivial, while it is an adventure on current Linux

-Host Windows can be configured to return all the virtual RAM inside the actual RAM that is not possible on Linux hosts - which means that a host of 2003 will work better for a single virtual machine

-2003 is very stable so that a host Linux VMserver 2 tends to leaking memory after long uptimes

-on a host of 2003, you can easily use the ViClient to manage the virtual machines

  • Cannot change the location of the Windows Server 2003 Server Win7 libraries

I have trouble understanding why I can't change the location of my Windows 7 Pro user libraries.

All my libraries that matter (My Documents, downloads, Desktop) are located @.

    \\server1\users\USER

Libraries desktop and My Documents are synchronized with the Windows Sync Center and are located @.

    documents \\server1\users\USER\My (& Desktop)

On the Windows 7 machine, I can't use the 'move' function normally there. The field is filled (locations above) but I can't change the locations, and there is no move operation.

So, I thought I'd move them manually, then changing the location of the registry of the library, but I prefer difficulty it some permissions issue is and use the libraries stock tool. I peut change locations library for my other libraries (for example Contacts or other) using the normal Win7 pass function lies in the properties of the library.

  • new PowerEdge: windows server 2003 standard r2 install problem

    Hi all

so I started with this procedure

    1. Insert the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility CD or the Dell and Documentation DVD systems management tools in the CD player.
    2. Reboot your system and boot from the CD/DVD.
    3. Select Dell Systems Build and Update Utility to go to the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility Home screen.
    4. Click the server operating system Installation.
    5. Follow the instructions step by step to set up your hardware and to install your operating system.

Now in the select list of Os, I chose windows server 2003 sp2. When I come to the part where it asks for my o/s drives, I get a "invalid" drive, and my windows install dvd is ejected.

I use our msdn 2939.3 disc titled "Windows Server 2003 R2, Standard Edition with Service Pack 2.

I tried our other msdn discs, but they no longer work.

    so I'm stuck.

All I need is to put in place the RAID-1 and windows server 2003.

Anyone who is willing to light on that?

    Hello

I have a PE 1950 I'm trying to reinstall Windows Server 2003 STD. There a PERC 5 / i controller SCSI with a Raid 1 configuration. I've updated the Bios Dell 2.0.1 and the PERC 5 / i firmware to version 5.2.1 - 0067. I created and initialized from cd Dell Open manage Cd (V 5.2.0) and go through all the instructions. It copies the files from the Windows CD-ROM server hard disk, so he asked to restart. So I do, then the Windows installation screen rises, and the server hangs. The gray bar at the bottom of the installation is not upward to install a 3rd party SCSI driver. If I restart the server, it freezes again at the Windows screen.

I ran an extented diagnostic systems on it, but she came back without error.

I'm running out of ideas on how to get Windows Server 2003 is installed on this server. Ideas or comments will be appreciated.
