    I tried with windows update and manually download vistal SP2 but fails both: the process takes time and when download reaches 100% there is a message that says that the file is corrupted in the disk, I tried to check readers for bad mistakes, too, but the same problem persists.

    It may be a corrupted catalog file.  However, it can also be a corrupted system file.  In the latter case, the System File Checker may be able to fix it.  Click Start, type "cmd" in the search/Run box and right-click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane.  Select run as administrator.  When the cmd window type "sfc/scannow" at the prompt and press ENTER.  When the scan is finished, close the cmd window.  Alternatively, you can try to install clean or safe mode boot mode.  See

    Welcome to the windows vista forums.

    1. stop the Windows Update service (make sure that you are logged on as administrator)

    Click the Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
    Double-click Services.
    (Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
    Right-click the Windows Update service and click on stop.

    2. Click Start, type %windir%\System32 in the search box and press ENTER.

    Find and rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.

    3. start the Windows Update service

    Hello

    Please join Microsoft Community where you can find the necessary information on Microsoft products!

    You can not install Vista Service pack 2 and get the error with code 800f0a09 and the message that there are problems with the driver for dell latitude.

    The problem may occur if some of the components of the update are corrupt.

    What is the full error message that you receive?

    I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below to check if the problem is with the update components:

    Method 1: Reset the update components

    See the site:

    How to reset the Windows Update components?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Warning: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry

    Method 2: Run the system update readiness tool

    See the site:

    System update scan tool corrects errors of Windows Update in Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947821

    Method 3: Turn off the antivirus software

    See the site:

    Disable the anti-virus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

    Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps. If the problem persists, let know us and we would be happy to help you.

    If a full Microsoft Office 2003 retail version is preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, Office 2003 will be reinstalled when you perform a clean Windows installation... as long as you use either drives OEM that came with the computer when you bought the hidden restore [1] or to partition the clean install.

    If you have purchased & installed Office 2003 separately, you will be able to reinstall (after completing the clean install of Windows) using your Office 2003 CD-ROM.

    If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons). +

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11, Acer is normally Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, when you are replaying the ad.

    .

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 1 through Windows Update

    Hello

    Recently I had to reinstall windows vista home premium 32 bit on my old acer aspire laptop. I did a "clean install", all was well with this operation. I had to install a large number of various updates after doing, now I am notified via windows update vista service pack 1 is available for download/installation. When I try to perform this action, I get a popup window that informs me of what to know before installing sp1, then I reach a window where I have to accept the terms of the software installation. Once I click on the little square and accept the conditions, it goes to another window with two choices... install & cancel, when I click the button install... instead of windows update download and install the update, I am presented with the view of windows update, the update has been installed successfully When in fact it was not. I prefer to install sp1 via windows update, because she was supposed to be a size smaller than the stand-alone version available on microsofts website. Has anyone else had the same question, and if so how do you fix? Of course this laptop is not my main computer, but as it still works very well I continue to use it.

    Thank you

    Uninstalled all antivirus & anti-spyware (AVG & Norton were both running).

    I just noticed the above your first post. You had AVG and installed NAV and loading at startup? What were you doing thought? Not surprising that SP2 or Win7 upgrade would not install!

    You must have an installed AV 1 and loading at startup. Chances are that AVG or Norton worked properly.

    You have 2 choices:

    1. back up your personal data (of which none should be considered reliable) and then format the HARD drive and do a clean install of Vista. or...

    2. make a "custom (Advanced) installation" of Win7 and then delete %system%\Windows.old <=this> . Do not even think to transfer the data from Vista to Win7. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft
