• Update for windows 7 (KB980408) mess my laptop

  Please help me.

  Essentially as usual, I went my selected update all then press download and install. I continued as usual, but then my screen went white with the little line blinking in the upper left corner. Then the screen went completely blank. After a few minutes, I close my ny computer holding the button pressed, then again it upward. I chose to start normally thinking that it was just a glitch. Then when the small icon of windows of red, green, yellow, blue came he says below that it was set up updates then began counting up to 3,000 or more. After he was done, I heard c, ding, ding, but the screen remained the same after a few minutes I restarted my laptop again with the button chose to start in safe mode and then use the system restore to repair computer. I need to know how to get this update or if I even need? I am running windows 7 Home premium on a computer laptop hp compaq presario and I'll give you more information for those who ask. I will not update until I know what to do.

  Thank you. I fixxed the problem and I was able to boot from my 7 disc. I did a system restore and I blocked the update so that I would never do it more. Thank you for the help guys.

  This is a new DELL Vostro 220 s with Windows 7 Professional computers.  What's weird it is Windows Update to install updates for Windows XP as well and do not have on them because they were the wrong version of Windows.  Here is a summary:

  1. 800736B 3 Return Code.
  2. Downloaded manually, fails and no error message.
  3. Uninstalled BitDefender and the firewall is disabled.
  4. Tried to clean boot

  Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? They both should be started. You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

  Usually, I recommend installing the patches manually at this stage.  However, you have many of them, so I would try running first Microsoft OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.

  If this does not work, you may need to use to install them manually:

  (1) Download Center to visit Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.
  (2) search for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB979309).
  3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run.  You must accept the agreement and then click on continue.
  (4) repeat this process for each download of updates Windows could not install.
  (5) to rerun the update from Microsoft, click find updates.  If all goes well, it will show that you are completely patched.

  I have been using RoboForm for years without problem. However, last night, I ran the last Windows Update and this morning I had no Robo toolbar on my Firefox. I went back to windows update and had the same problem again.

  The toolbar may be hidden or the add-on is no longer compatible with Firefox. You right-click at the top near the address bar and to activate a specific toolbar. You can also check your list of Add-ons to see if it is listed as incompatible. Please note that you do not use beta, not everything may work correctly.

  an option may be to tackle this particular update for now until there is a fix from microsoft or you could also look at if there is a graphics driver update available on the Web site of the seller (intel/amd/nvidia) which could also be solved this problem in some cases.

  I had exactly the same thing happens my laptop Satellite L70-C-12R and said I need to buy a factory reset USB from TOshiba (£42). This seemed to do the trick, but I see once more that are problems before the accident. laptop not to close (continuous reboot itself), extended screens goes black and now the anniversary 10 Windows Update will not install with error 80070008 0 x.

  I have run exactly the same OS and software on my Asus and have no problem at all.

  I suspect it's a clash of 10 Toshiba/Windows somewhere.
