  • Satellite Pro 4310 support - looking for Northbridge/Southbridge

I have recently spoken of an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4310. Currently, it's obviously a little slow and I am wanting to update is usable.
I'll buy some more RAM and a new HARD drive for it. He is running Puppy Linux (that I installed) and seems to work very well.

My problem comes mainly at startup. More time than I would like (ok, I know, it's an old laptop...) as is currently a spare, machine project, I was hoping to try CoreBoot (previously LinuxBIOS)
However I can't find details specific hardware (Northbridge/Southbridge) anywhere.

I just contacted technical support Toshiba who were happy to help, but did not have the information that I needed and referred me to "Topaz", who told me that they do not hold number of component specific of any piece of Toshiba, and nor any UK company.

Can someone please help me here? I really want to get the most out of this laptop.

    Hello

OK; I'll try my best ;)

    Info on RAM;
The laptop can be upgraded up to 320 MB and the modules that are supported are SODIMM 144 pin PC100

The laptop was equipped with internal memory of 64 MB, which is not removable. So only one location is available for the upgrade of memory:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=11466&ft=m&St=3

    Disk HARD;
The laptop supported disk interface HARD Enhanced IDE (ATA-5).
    Therefore, buy an IDE HDD.

I'm not sure about the size of the HARD drive. The old HDD was 10 GB. Right? Then maybe a 20 GB might works too but I m not 100% sure.

  • Prerequisites for the replacement of Windows XP for Satellite Pro A120-107

I don't know that it will have been asked before, however...

I received a Satellite Pro A120-107 XP. Because XP is not supported, I would like to upgrade to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Who should I go for?

I think I need to improve my memory (currently 512 MB) at least 1 GB. Or should I go to 2 GB. Which would be better?

And I need a BIOS upgrade? He is currently using vn 1.50 08/24/2006. If I do, what version?

In your case, I'll try to install Win 7 on this good old classic.

8.1 Win is the latest system from Microsoft but I'm afraid, you will have some problems with drivers m.

Win 7 would be the best choice in this case

  • No sound after installing Windows 7 on Satellite Pro U200

    Hello

I just installed Windows 7 Professional on my Satellite Pro U200 10 p.

    Available for XP Pro.

Sound has stopped working since the new facility (which fromatting the drive - no partition) and can not find a solution. The v6.10.1.6000 of SoundMAX Integrated Digittal HD Audio Driver is installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but this doesn't seem to be the right driver. I can't find info to tell me what the correct driver can be either. The Toshiba site is a little sparse on Windows 7 drivers for this model and gives no indication that the driver may be is.

Windows 7 does not think that there is a problem and some reports that "this device works properly." in speaker properties > Configuration information dialog box. However not coming out, the speakers or the 3.5 mm jack

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you

    James

    Hello

Go to Device Manager and check what sound chip you have exactly:

    Use this statement:
[How to identify an unknown device? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78]

Then you should be able to find a good pilot.
I also recommend remove/delete the sound card in Device Manager.
Just select the audio remove card and press on, and then restart the laptop

PS: Are you sure that the sound is not muted? Please check this too!

  • Re: Windows 7 on Satellite Pro C50-A-1HQ

I have a Satellite Pro C50-A-1HQ with windows 8.1 and I'm pretty tired of this OS because of problems with the use of disc 100% that I get sometimes and I have not been able to solve.

I would like to install windows 7 in this labtop. Do you know if there is a problem with that? Windows7 will work fully? I need to change anything before I install it?

    Thanks to you all!

I don't know what can be wrong with the use of disk, and I hope that you tried to optimize version of the OS preinstalled.
I visited the Toshiba download on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp page and I found all the drivers, tools and utilities for Win7 64-bit if your machine is fully supported. To be honest I think that your machine will work fine and stable with Win7.

Before do you anything create recovery disk (DVD or USB) using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator and you can use it at any time if you have notebook with factory again.

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 on Satellite Pro 6100

Is it possible to install windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 computer? I am currently using windows XP.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

Do you really think on installing Windows 7 over several years old Satellite Pro 6100?

In my opinion, it won't work because it is too old and not fast enough. Newer operating system that is supported by Toshiba is Windows XP and this should be the best choice for good old classic.

So just to be satisfied with Windows XP, it's a good choice for older computers! :)

  • Can I upgrade to Windows 7 on Satellite Pro L510

Hello. I recently bought a Satellite Pro L510.

It came with a program to upgrade Windows 7 with PSLFFL-002002 part number, which shows that they are eligible for the upgrade of windows to windows 7.

However, when my windows 7 cd came and when I tried to install it, there was a notice saying that my model is not eligible to upgrade to windows 7. When I referred to the given site 'http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows7/mlist_sp.htm' I noticed the L510 Satellite Pro series is not found in the list.

Later, I called the center of Contact from Toshiba for re - confirm whether or not L510 pro series can be upgraded to win 7, and the person told me to reformat my laptop to factory settings. He said that I should refer to 'http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/portal/public/win7/specs.jsp?model=proL510' instead in regards to laptops for the upgrade of windows.

However before I reformat my laptop I clarify / re - confirm L510 Satellite Pro can be upgraded to win 7. I don't want to reformat my laptop for nothing.

    Hope someone could help me.

    Thank you.

I don't know how it works in Asia or with Asian laptops but the fact is that all new laptops are designed for Win7 and I see no single reason for your laptop are not upgradeable to Win7.

Asian laptop models are not known to me, but I did not understand in your ad which OS came preinstalled as factory condition. Your laptop came with Vista pre-installed and you have upgrade you DVD Win7 or what?

AFAIK preinstalled Vista can be improved using Win7 upgrade DVD and after upgrade you must not activate it. It will be automatically activated.

So please be so kind and explain to us exactly what you want to do and how you want to do.

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem installing Windows XP Home SP2 (listen Slip) edition in my new Satellite Pro P200 with 2-120 GB hard drives. The vehicle currently has windows vista professional. I followed this link to a similar question on this site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go % 21 and created disk Intel Matrix Storage manager so that I could use "F6" to install the RAID drivers during the installation of XP.

I got to the point where I was able to recognize the hard drive and I was able to select the partition where I wanted to install WXP. Once the NTFS partition has been selected and formatted, Windows XP Home edition Setup prompted me to insert "Intel Matrix Storage" diskette into the A: drive. I have this drive in my floppy USB drive.

However he didn't even read the disc. Hard drive never turned on when I pressed the enter"" key. It seemed as if the installer froze, however I was able to push "F3" to exit the installation program. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Is the USB problem?

    Help, please!

  • Upgrade to Windows XP on Satellite Pro 490CDT

    Hi people,

I have a portable Satellite Pro 490CDT with a P2-233 processor and 64 MB RAM/4 GB HDD running Windows 98. I am interested in upgrading to Windows XP, mainly because I'm in photography and want to use Adobe Photoshop parties4 (XP only, I think). I used "Upgrade advisor" of Microsoft and he suggested that there should be no problem. I'm not so sure?

Someone at - it experience to do it with a computer configured the same way? If you think I'm could having problems - need more RAM etc - someone tell me? If I have to install a hardware could someone tell me "a way idiots to do?

    See you soon

    Hello

First if you use Windows XP, you need more RAM 64 MB.
To use Windows XP, you must pass the memory. You can upgrade this laptop for max 160 MB. Well well, in my opinion it s not enough to use the WinXP with a maximum return. I'm also sure Adobe Photoshop software use more than 160 MB memory m.

  • Windows 7 on Satellite Pro U300

    Hello

I wanted to know if someone had tried to install Windows 7 on a Satellite Pro U300.

I've heard that there are some problems like drivers, for example. Back at the Office I had tried to install Windows 7 on a Dell desktop computer and installed successfully with no problems at all. With the exception of a few drivers without importance, everything seems to be ok and all this after a new installation of the operating system. I'm a bit on the backfoot to try such a blow on my laptop. I read somewhere in the site Web of Toshiba laptops this year buying will support Windows 7.

I bought mine last year and it comes preinstalled with Vista professional I found so irritating performance wise and I have it downgraded to Windows XP, which always runs smooth and fine. So I was wondering, if I had to install Windows 7 on my laptop, drivers Vista will be useful or so I have to wait until I have find suitable drivers who would take time to find.

    Hoping to see your suggestions.

    Praveen

    Hello

Of course, you could install Win 7 on this laptop
But you won't find the official Win 7 drivers for this unit.

You can try to install drivers from the beta version of Windows 7 that I found on the Toshiba page us but I'm not quite sure if all drivers would be compatible

But don t give up dude. You could try to bring together pilots to hand clean looking on some 3rd party pages
Most of the drivers for common parts must be available

  • How to install Windows XP in Satellite Pro L300-1 to 9?

    Hello!

first of all, sorry if I ask something really obvious, but I'm quite new with this questions... sorry for my English, I'm not native.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1 to 9 with Windows Vista preinstalled, but the thing is that I prefer Windows XP. I tried to install it, but it won't work.

I read a lot of messages and comments on this topic in this forum and also in the web. The problem is that I don't know if the procedure and drivers to download are the same for all models L300. Mine is L300 1 to 9.

Could someone give me a few extra simple instructions (I'm a beginner) on how solve this problem or a link to this question? I saw a lot of them, but none on this model L300 1 to 9.

    Thank you very much!!

    Hello!

What do you mean with it doesn t work to install Windows XP?
    Please explain this!

However, I think you forgot the SATA drivers. These drivers are required to install Windows XP, if your system is running in AHCI mode for better performance.
The drivers, you can download the Toshiba site or on Intel:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In addition, I think this link might be useful for you:

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro L300D-136

    Hello

I realize that this question is very similar to those posed elsewhere on these forums. I tried after the solutions proposed elsewhere but were unable to do anything at work.

I'm trying to install XP Pro on a Satellite Pro L300D 136, which is currently under Vista.

I tried to get into the BIOS and change SATA compatibility mode, but I still get a blue screen of death when booting from the installation disc. Reading elsewhere on the forums, that I understand that I have to use nlite to include drivers SATA on the installation CD, I'm not sure how to find out what drivers I need. Number of threads talking about MSM from Intel, but my machine has an AMD Athlon processor. Does make a difference? Where can I find the necessary drivers in the download section of Toshiba?

Thank you in advance for your help, this is the first time I tried to replace a windows with another OS...

    Yes, it makes a difference.

For laptops equipped with AMD processor (they don t have an Intel chipset) you need the display driver.
In the display driver package are the SATA drivers you need.
You can find it on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

    2. then choose by product Type-> "Archive".
