Check out and follow the file association fixes for Windows Vista

    For the .zip file association:
    http://www.Winhelponline.com/fileasso/zipfix_vista.reg
Download the REG file to your desktop.
Right click on the REG file and choose Merge.
Note that you must be an administrator to apply this hotfix.

  • Windows Photo Viewer stopped opening PNG files

Using Windows 7, 64 bit. Windows Photo Viewer no longer displays one. PNG file. He has always worked in the past. I get the error message

Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this picture because the file seems corrupted, altered, or is too large.

A similar message is obtained from Windows Live Photo Gallery

Microsoft Picture Manager is OK, like paint, Irfanview, Picasa and many other programs.

I've updated MS .NET to 4.5 as suggested in another post.

This also affects the ability of the Explorer to display thumbnails when the photo viewer is the default program for PNG.

Your system ceased to display PNG files after Microsoft Update KB2670838 was delivered to your computer through Windows updates in late February 2013.

Software developers cannot possibly predict all future updates that Microsoft will make to its operating system or applications. Do us, however, solve the problems when they occur and publish updates as necessary.

A more reasonable notice might suggest looking for an update of the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack instead of pointing the finger and recommending other users to uninstall our product that if it turns out, was not directly responsible for the issue.

You also do not mention that uninstall the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack - while setting the PNG issue you know - also disabled Explorer thumbnails and previews of the Windows for Adobe PSD, EPS Photo Viewer, I and the other 40 formats support us.

The compatibility problem that resulted from the installation of KB2670838 was identified and corrected since, as well as another problem of compatibility that is revealed only after the release of Microsoft Office 2013.

  • Windows Explorer hangs when opening office files

Windows Explorer crashes when opening files on the desktop.

The accident occurred when going back (or hit the back button) when a desktop folder is used.

After a few weeks of frustration, I've isolated a few things that makes it a little easier to deal with, and maybe this will help some members of the community help me pinpoint the problem.

I've exhausted trying to use system restore system backups.

I discovered the stops 'window launch folder in a separate process' the 5-10 sec reload of the Windows desktop.

Open the folder by opening a window of the Explorer than navigating to C; \Users\USER-ME\Desktop does NOT cause the error; just when you open the folder 'from' the office.  (which goes against the convenience to keep files open on the desktop at first project)

I suppose that as a last resort, I could start using a location (like C; \MyDesktop) place the files in there, and then create shortcuts to them.

I was about to do an installation of Windows o/s before you find the option 'split the process' & isolate when & how it occurred (as first of all, I thought it was totally random)

The only unusual thing that occurred near the time of the problem was trying to uninstall [Google Drive] that crashed due to a security locking violation.  I reinstalled today, uninstalled mode safe, found guilty folder (... AppData \Local\Google\..) used 'Take Ownership' and then finished. But after a registry cleaning & several resets, the problem persists, then maybe it was just a coincidence.

There are a lot of reasons, it may happen, but my guess is a failed shell extension.  She's going to Extensions are what adds options to the context menus you see when you right-click on various things.  The hull of the Office is different from cases, even if a program (like Google) added an option to the menu in both places, so it is possible for one to have a problem.  You might be familiar with the common shell extensions, like "Scan this file with Norton" click on menus and others.

You can use a program like shell ShellExView to disable the extensions one by one to help out.  Although my personal dose of this situation is to create a new user account on the computer, then do drag your files into the new account, and delete the one damaged.

  • Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this file because the file seems to be corrupted, damaged or too big.

I am on Windows 7 and using Photo Viewer to watch 5 tiff files. I can open all tiff files in photoshop or psp, but not in photoviewer. Here, I can open only 2 smaller files. Is there a limit of size on the photo viewer (it seems). The files that I can not open are 1.45

    Hello

    a. like you said that the size of file that 1.45, could you give the exact size in MB, GB or KB?
    b. Since the photoviewer is used to display basic tiff files, if the file contains additional metadata information that can not be played on photoviewer it could give you the error message.
1 copy these pictures on another computer in Windows 7 and check if the files open.
    2. you can also try to change the file format and check if it converts in this format and it opens correctly.
You can see the following article on changing the file format.
    I hope this helps.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • I sent a record of a conference that has an extension of VOC and I get an error message that Windows Media Player cannot open the file

What should the sender to do with their recording of a conference, to convert it to a readable audio file that I could open with Windows Media player?

    Hi Kathy,

VOC Extension is not supported by windows media player, you can check the link below which talk supported the extension of file with windows media player.

Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992

You can search for parry 3 Codecs or file converter supporting the .voc file type.

  • Windows Photo Viewer cannot open *.tif files

Hi Windows Photo Viewer don't open no * tif files on computers Dell desktop running Windows Pro 8.1 and Windows 7 Professional.

    Do not use a drive.

Tried system restore, but does not solve the problem.

Windows posted a temporary fix (https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/2635500), but recommended "If you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend you wait for the next software update, which will include this fix."

Windows finally gets out the permanent fix for users?  Still waiting.

The patch in KB2635500 appears directed at problems with files TIF MultiPage (usually of the faxes).  Do you do business with?  You get the error message that is mentioned in the article?

If this isn't the case, what exactly happens when you try to open a single TIF file (non-multi-site)?  Is it just does not open or you get an error message?  If the latter, what is the full text of the error message?

It is possible that the Windows System File Checker can solve this problem.  Open an elevated command prompt (right click > run as administrator) and enter the command:

    sfc/scannow

    See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Or you could abandon the Windows Photo Viewer and use the much more versatile application free IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/

  • Can't "" save under "in any application." No response from Windows when you select "open a file" in any application

In all applications, Microsoft & others, nothing happens when I click on "Save as" or "Save" or "open".  If I get a window "Search", it does not - in other words, no information, or directory path appears in the menu area I am therefore unable to navigate to any location to open out or save to.  I use Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit w/SP2 installed.

  • After Reinstalling windows 7 stopped opening PSD files.

After Reinstalling windows 7 has stopped opening some files PSD files. I try to open them with Photoshop version 6, it does not work. I tried to open them on the laptop, same garbage. Tell me what is the problem. And how to fix it. Thank you.

Maybe these files have been corrupted. I can't say how it happened, but it is quite possible. And the files are no longer open, immediately after reinstalling windows? Or not?

If so, it is very rare in my opinion. You are very unlucky. Try to reinstall photoshop. Then check that these files have been opened or not. In the opposite case. Then the only solution is a special software. I would use this program http://www.photoshop.recoverytoolbox.com/ on your site

(it is not free but is very good and is not expensive. But in the future you will be immune to such situations. )

So you can learn more about your problem here: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/adobe/adobe-aa/photoshop/207-can-t-open-a-psd-file-th rough-photoshop
