Windows7 started to freeze on my and my computer wives at the same time that it was after Microsoft sent an update for Silverlight down on 23/07/2014. These computers have worked very well for years without any problem. I tried to uninstall the update, but Microsoft has changed the name and number of the update and I don't know who it is. I don't understand why they are doing anyway. Does anyone else have this problem. Help, please.    hushpups Thank YOU.

    Hello

Thank you for reaching out to us to Microsoft Community.

Ideally, Windows updates from Microsoft doesn't cause problems with freezing of the computer.  Microsoft recommends that you install all the recommended updates and it protects your computer against potential threats, and it also maintains.

The question you are faced to could be linked to corrupt Silverlight which can cause computer freeze if the associated Silverlight Windows Update are installed.

To resolve this problem, I will ask you uninstall to clean up the corrupted installation of Silverlight and then reinstall Silverlight.

To do this, please follow the steps described in the Microsoft Support Article below.

How to clean a facility damaged Silverlight and then reinstall Silverlight

Also, I recommend that you turn on automatic updates. Important updates provide significant benefits, such as improved security and reliability. You can also set Windows to automatically install recommended updates, which can address non-critical problems and help enhance your computing experience. Microsoft updates and optional updates are not downloaded or installed automatically.

Activate the update or disable automatic

  • Why can't I just move on with windows7 starter to windows 8, my computer is only 9 months since purchest?

Why can't I just move on with windows7 starter to windows 8, my computer is only 9 months since purchest?

So it will not uninstall then install my programs, or what, then another question is the offer for $14.99, that's what I was watching and I filled a free upgrade and probably has not been fully tested for this upgrade, he said I would be able to get the upgrade, but there is no decrease in my emails guess still in work. While {s it improves just $ 40 million that I should wait for a version pro or ultimate?

And what will happen to my saved files?

and I'll be able to restore to the factory with warranty setting and I can use my series to my computer for the upgrade?

NOW please if you don't know it please tell me I would like to know some facts and since there is so much development, in my view, the pro version is yet to come, so...

Windows 7 Starter is not eligible for the offer of $14.99.  Only Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate. If you must upgrade to Windows 8, then you have to wait on the upgrade $ 39.99 for Windows 8 Pro that will become available October 26, 2012.

The upgrade will allow you to keep your applications, personal files and settings.

Yes, it should be able to restore the factory State, but always backup before making changes on your computer like installing an operating system:

If you have recently changed the password, then you can start the computer with a system repair CD and use system restore to restore the old password.

After trying everything I could, I came across suggested fix by Alan Morris, entered a long command.

Finally discovered that it's actually a problem of bluetooth services. I don't know even why I looked there-

THE DIFFICULTY at least for me...

Click the Start button, type "services" in the search programs and files. This will display a list in the menu, select Services. "This should open a list of local services on your system..., Find ' Bluetooth Service" and make sure that it has begun, click right and put on 'automatic' (mine was already fixed), select 'Bluetooth Support Service' and start, set to automatic (mine has been on dsabled).

This fixed my issue, I hope you do too...

  • Impossible to change the wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter.

original title: Windows 7 Starter wallpaper!

Seriously one you can't change the wallpaper on Windows 7 starter. Of course, that I understand that this version of Windows is expected to be very light on has to run smoothly on netbooks... but F---ing screen? Microsoft remembers that they always write operating systems right? My dinosaur, Nokia cell phone from 5 years ago allow you to change the wallpapers.  They left the gadget feature but no background screen! This really proves to me that Microsoft has absolutely no idea of what they do.  Windows 7 comes on just about all netbook now from this current holiday season.  So here's my question... Why would anyone want a netbook windows 7 when XP (earlier than prior windows operating system 7) had more features it does? Apple is looking for better and better. I don't even have a netbook for Christmas, and even though I really wanted one, I'm very happy that I don't have. I'm not going to get one at all now if its windows 7 on it.  I'll wait for the Apple tablet, and that's all.  What do you mean Microsoft?

    Hello socratesman,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

In Windows 7 Starter, you are not allowed to change the wallpaper. You can't even replace the image by default by another because the system compares the hash of file of your background desired with the hash of the file of the default wallpaper.

You need to upgrade to a more full version of Windows 7:

  • I can't change wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter

    Original title: wallpaper

My Acer laptop has windows 7 starter edition. A few days ago, I met a problem of the missing desktop wallpaper and become black. I tried to solve this back, but I can't. I can't change wallpaper?

You can also try searching for additional references.

Microsoft has not provided a way to change the wallpaper, but the references above each show a way to do it. I have not validated/tried the methods described in the links above.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. From your problem description, I understand that you are facing problems when the computer starts.

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?

Please go ahead and follow the steps mentioned and later a update on the State of the question.

Method 1: Check if the problem is caused by some faulty devices on your computer. I suggest that you disconnect all external devices except the mouse and keyboard to your computer and check to see if the same problem happens.

Method 2: Try to run the troubleshooter of Performance:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-performance-Troubleshooter

Method 3: Try to boot in safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    (For Windows Vista)

Method 4: If the question does not exist in Mode safe mode then try to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 3 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    2. What is the version of the operating system that you are using?

I suggest that you try following the steps mentioned below, that if you use Windows Vista and Windows 7 and check to see if it helps.

Step 1: Check in SafeMode with network.

You can also check if the problem persists in safe mode with network and check.

    Reference:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

If you are able to see the start icon, then executes the method 2.

Step 2: Perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following step 7.
