Solution of need to install Vista updates window 4. Always get Windows Update encountered an unknown error when you try to install.

Hi adam rabbai,

1. When was the last time you were able to install updates?
2. do you have security software installed on the computer?
3. the updates try to install on the computer?

Method 1

It is possible that certain windows update components are missing or damaged.
I suggest that you reset Windows update components and try to install the updates.

How to reset the Windows Update components?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Method 2

Disable the security software and try installing uodates.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3

Download and install the updates on the computer manually.

I hope this helps!

  • Windows Update, error 80200010 # WindowsUpdate_dt000

The message referenced above is the error in trying to fill three 3 important updates to my computer, I received.  Two 2 updates installed correctly and completely, however, one (1) does not.  In chicking on icon troubleshooting he, I will put this error message "WindowsUpdate_80200010" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"  What does this mean and how can I fix this error and get this update loaded on my computer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-error-80200010

If Windows Update error 80200010 during updates, this means that the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), cannot access the Internet. This service is used to connect to the Windows website and download updates to your computer.

To fix this problem, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet and check for updates again. To easily see if you are connected to the Internet, point to the network icon in the notification area and wait until you can see the status of your connection. You will see the name of your network or the service to which you are connected and the type of connection you have. If you are on a company or home network, you should see the message access: Local and Internet.

I figured Vista in this case.

  • Could not update "WindowsUpdate_80070663" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

    "WindowsUpdate_80070663" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" Why can't so far?

This error translates as 'the patch package could not be opened. "

The first thing I would say when troublehsooting this error is to run the following command from an Admin command prompt.  This is going to re - register the Windows Installer service.

    1. click on start / run and type CMD and press on enter
-In Vista, press Start, in the search box, type CMD and right click on the command prompt that appears above, choose Run as administrator
    2. type the following command "MSIEXEC/REGSERVER" and press enter
    3. close the command prompt window, restart the computer and try the update again

If it still fails, try the following solution below.

I saw some people to solve their problem by using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the application in question (Microsoft Office, .NET Framework 3.5) then reinstall the application, then try the updates again.

    See the following article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/932857

The article details that you must remove the Microsoft Office registry entries, and then reinstall Microsoft Office.  If you encounter the problem with .net Framework 3.5 updated partners updated, try to remove the .net Framework 3.5, then reinstall .net Framework 3.5, and then reinstall the update.

    I hope this helps.

  • WindowsUpdate_8E5E03FA""WindowsUpdate_dt000"

I can't get windows to install updates. I get the error "WindowsUpdate_8E5E03FA" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" head to the help and support that tells me absolutely nothing. How can I solve this problem?

I already fixed it. None of your suggested courses of action worked. You cannot run the commands net stop Vista stated that I don't have permissions on the system. Strange, because I am a member of the Administrators group on the local computer? In any case, what I did to fix the problem, it was go into the MMC console and stop the cryptographic service. Then I renamed the folder Windows\system32\catroot2 \catroot2old. Rebooted the system and he forced windows to regenerate a new catroot2 folder. To restart that I forced windows update to search for updates, this can take a long time, up to 3-5 minutes in my case. Windows Update showed me the missing updates and this time they installed properly. Restarted again after updates.  It took a long time for the system to shut down, but must let it stop by itself. On reboot, everything works fine now. I suspect that it is a Windows Vista Service Pack 2 problem as I had no problems until after I installed it. I remembered some clients of mine had this same problem with Vista SP1, and this is how I fixed it.
