WMP 11 will not play wma songs

About 2 years ago, I downloaded some songs from wma on the internet. Songs were all legal downloads on pc at home. Recently, I added only a few mp3 downloaded personal songs and songs from wma to CD to wmp11 playlist. Everything was going well until McAfee distance developed in August 2010. Then wma songs that have been downloaded on the internet would play is more - all the other songs played. Next to some of the songs, a red w/year x inside button. It is said wmp11 is not properly installed. I tried reinstalling wmp11 several times. In addition, tried to call my internet provider using techniques from a distance (I dropped the Mcafee subscription) and after 3 hours they could find no problem. Then I tried reauthorizing song to the site where I downloaded originally and still not fixed. I called the download site of the song that has tried something w/DMR (file?), but that no longer works. Also tried to move a player newly downloaded iTunes, songs and these unplayable songs téléchargerais not to the itunes player - protected says? I deleted itunes player and wishes to continue to use my wmp11, but can not solve the problem. [NOTE: also, since my mcafee focus distance, I can't wmp11 making a slide show when I connect the camera (it is more listed as an option in the choice box) - could it be related to the problem of the songs unplayable? so two questions, how to play unplayable wma downloads and how to play the slideshow camera w/wmp11 on XP?]  Pleeaaaase help. Thank you!!!

Hello

1. what happens when you play these wma files? Alexandra code/error message are you getting?
2 is this problem limited to these wma files downloaded or is it with any wma file you play?
3. have you installed third-party codecs?

See the sections How will I know how much I'm allowed to use a protected file? and How do I download usage rights?
in the article below and check.

Note: The article above is also applicable to Windows Media Player 11 installed on the Windows XP-based computer.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • WMP12 Play function will not play next song on the list

I use the function of "play to" Windows Media Player. Streaming is successful unless I see there are more than one song entered in the dialog box set, but the player won't be repeating the same song again and again until I click on the button next in the dialog box. When I clicked on next, the player will play the next song, and after that, it will continue to repeat the 2 songs up to the I press Next once where she repeats only played 3 songs.

Hello.  I had this problem too. Using the Play function, the player would play the 1st song in the list, then a stop, or just to replay the 1st song. It was on my computer Windows 8.1. I also have the same music on a Windows 7 computer.  On the Windows 7 computer, the Play function works perfectly.  Two computers use Media Player 12.

I tried other suggestions such as the reconstruction of my index finger, but nothing helped.

Today, I've corrected the Play function on the computer Windows 8.1. Now that he plays the song in the game to the list, although the list is random. I hope that this correction will be kept in the coming days.

Surprisingly for me, that's all it took:

Start Windows Media Player. Right-click on the icon in the taskbar. You will see an option to play all music.  Select it. On my computer it sent all my music in random order to the list in Windows Media Player. Use the Play for this send to the DLNA device. I got a message saying only 2000 objects were allowed. Ok.  This list started and played several songs, until I stopped it.  Then, I built my own lists, some mixed, others do not. They worked perfectly.

It seems that you use the PlayAllMusic option has solved this problem for me on my computer Windows 8.1. I hope he does the same for others.

  • Windows 8 will not play WMA or mpeg-4 with the music app

How can I play the WMA music with the music app. They always play with zune and windows media player. What I have to install additional codex? A better question would be - how could save you Windows 8 without the ability to play WINDOWS Media Audio?

After installing the update media library WMA files have now been added to my library in the app Metro music.

Crazy that this standard format of MS is not part of the default system.

  • .wma files will not play in WMP11

Suddenly my music wma files will not play in WMP11. I have tried everything I know and read, nothing helps. So far I tried to convert the MP3 files is not working even in these programs (v3.0 have all Audio Recorder being one of them); I tried to delete the ID3 and all the other codes (HeadStrong ID3Kill v1.4), all what has been clear all my songs the album/song. etc - HUGE mistake! I tried to play in RealPlayer - still will not play wma files only mp3s; removed and reset the codecs - nothing happened. so on and so forth.

What in the world is happening? I uninstalled my old version of WMP and installed more current. When I went to play the WMA in WMP11, I get an error that it can not play. It does not itself error code number, only this statement in error. I tried to restore my computer to a date and time earlier, he said that he could not change my Media Player to the previous version.

I have more than 1,000 songs on my computer, I simply can't pull it all back in (for days and days), I copied them on 2 sticks of memory as backup, also HUGE mistake because them copied without albums and song titles.

    Help please!

  • my windows media player is VERY slow to start, sometimes stops working, will not play some videos

When I run the program it opens but will not play a song sometimes longer than 15 minutes. Stops working and the screen will sometimes foggy transparent white - I can still see the player, but he has a white on fog. Today, that happen when you try to copy a cd. -just a regular old cdr.

Show first frame of video and play a sound but video does not move. Windows vista-home premium-toshiba.

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this file, rename the old Media Player like Media Player folder. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.

  • I click and drag the music from my library to a new playlist and some songs are dark and will not play on my device.  Why?

I click and drag the music a new reading list, but some songs are not highlighted in the play list and will not play on my device.  Why?

    Try two things...

    (1) the songs greyed out can be unchecked. Uncheck the songs are normally excluded from track to track synchronization and normal. With the help of the songs or the list view Ctrl + click on an empty box to check all the boxes in the list of active reading.

    (2) try to go to file > library > Update music library to iCloud and do the update.

  • My entire song will not play, just section A or B. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

MY entire song will not play, just section A or B. No idea what I am doing wrong?

The first thing to check is if you have "all sections" selected. Push it + top button on the right, which should show you the section menu. Above that, it should say "all sections". Make sure that who is selected. I know not obvious, but sometimes it's the simple answer that works... Don't know what you need to do, if it is not there.

my windows vista Ultimate 64 player will not play any of my wma or mp3 files. said that I did not have the codex of right. but wma and wmv are windows. What's new?

    Hi rpwerner,

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

This is a codec package from Microsoft you want to download to see if it will be useful.  Also, try to update your Windows Media Player and Windows Update to get the latest version of the codec required to play the type of media.

You can also use your favorite search engine to look for codec packs available on the web to help you read the content.

    NOTE:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

I have no direct answer, unless an alternative.

    Install VLC.
It's free. He plays almost all types of file formats, so that don't have to worry about having the codec right he for the audio file.
It is widely used and recommended.
