How to decrease the maximum size of 150 GB to 75GB?

How to decrease the maximum size of 150 GB to 75GB?

You have more then a few options and to name a few...

Make an Image, like a ghost Image and drive him back a smaller.

Add a smaller disk to the virtual machine and the Image directly from one to the other, and then exchange the smallest to the largest.  Ghost and that too.

Use any other third-party utility to perform the foregoing.

Zero free space on the existing drive and then reduce it (if VMware Tools are installed automatically retractable function zeros space free first) then resize the virtual partition to a smaller size, leaving half of it unpartitioned.  This prevents the drive to grow larger then the size of the new virtual partition size.  The dynamic (non-destructive) resizing can be done with a software like GParted Live.

VMware vCenter Converter to create a new virtual machine when resizing of the hard drive.

    Hi NativeLegal Eagle,

    Usually, right-click on the file or folder and clicking the properties option will give the details of the file or folder. The details include, type, size, location, size of the file on the disc etc.

    Make a right click on my computer will not give the details of available disk space on the computer.

    If you want to know the amount of space consumed by a program, then it can be found in the Add/Remove Programs window.
    a. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click ok.
    b. in the list, we can find the total space used by individual program running on the computer.

  • How to decrease the disk hard Linux operating system

    Hello everyone!

    My 4.1 infrastructure

    vCenter

    Cluster with 4 ESXi host

    I installed a VM with OS Linux Centos.

    I attributed a 20 GB of space on its hard drive.

    Virtual machine works ok. But I would like to reduce his hard drive. I want to decrease up to 10 GB.

    I don't know how. Anyone know?

    I think the only way is to use the conversion application with the power - line-machine option

    Thank you very much!!

    Jose.

    VMware converter would be the best option with the option of HDD resize at the end another way is affecting your current VMDK THIN and you will be liberated from the unused space.

  • Decrease the size of a disk in a VM?

    Hello

    I have a virtual machine with a disk of 120 GB running on esx3i.  I have a 20 GB system partition and a 100 GB data partition.  I thought they were on two separate drives, but they are not.  I want to keep the system disk on the vmfs LUNs on that she will roll and transfer the data reader to another logical unit number mapped through a RDM.

    I presented the LUN to windows 2003 server VM and a drive letter assigned.  The plan was to copy the data on the ROW and then remove the virtual disk and thus free up space on the VMFS partition.

    If I transfer the data to the RDM and then drop the partition of the disk.  I will be able to turn off the server and reduce the size of the disk of the same size as the system disk (or a little bigger!).  The virtual diskis 120 GB with a system of 20 GB and a 100 data partition.

    Thanks for the tips!

    I am always wary of shrinkin a disk - my which is converter allows you to create a new machine and then you will be able to resize the disk without any problems.

  • Error: "VMware Workstation has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full."

    I get this error message:

    VMware Workstation has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full. To continue, free 1.3 GB of additional disk space.

    I read up on the subject and found that I have to re size a partition. Anyone know what it could be? I can't find anything that looks like it has something to do with VMware. Does anyone know what size and what file system is it?

    My OS:
    Tumbleweed OpenSUSE x 64

    Thanks in advance

    On more creative, my home and root file systems were not extended to my full disk space :^)

  • Why can't I reduce the file size of virtual disk?

    Workstation help 8.0.4, why is the file size of virtual disk for my more bigger than the amount of space used within the instance instance?

    The instance (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit) HARD drive is 40 GB... He is currently using 28.6 GB of this space.

    But the hard for instance file is 34.5 GB size - it is more than 20% larger.

    I defragmented the drive on the instance.

    I defragmented and compacted file hard (via the 'vmware-vdiskmanager' command line utility)

    I defragmented the host drive.

    Any not really - I'm just curious as to why I can't get it down to a smaller size (mainly to speed up backups)

    Narrowing of a virtual disk is done in two steps. Unused disk space must first be cancelled in the comments, what OS, then blocks not null the hard are copied to a new file hard. With VMware Workstation 8, you can start this process in the VMware Tools window (right-click the icon in the system tray)

  • Increase in the size of a disk of Windows client under Linux?

    Greetings again. I am running VMware Workstation 6.5 on Linux. I also Converter 4.0 on Linux. I have a Windows client on which I want to increase the size of the disk, but it seems that converter on Linux does not. Am I missing something, or is there another way to do it? I know that I can do with windows-based converter, but it doesn't seem to be possible in the converter for Linux.

    Why not just use the vmware-vdiskmanager to enlarge the size of the virtual hard disk, then run a utility of partitioning within the guest to extend partition?

  • vRO presentation: return the total size of the disk of the virtual machine

    Hi guys,.

    I have a catalog item to extend a drive, which is presented to the vRA advanced services and picks up the vRO workflow. For this reason, the default IaaS vRA no between not affecting resource management. So I would limit the end-users to a maximum size of the virtual machine - that is to say, if the size + total size they intended to expand is > to a specific size, then the workflow will report this.

    I wrote the following code to return the total of all the disks that are attached to a machine. Then, it comes to the tab Presentation vRO to fill the discs max value. It works fine when I use the code as a workflow and connect the output. However, vRO presentation does not return a value any. Anyone had similar problems or I made a stupid mistake and missed something?

    var total = 0;

    size var = new Array();

    var features = vm.config.hardware.device;

    var h = 0;

    for (var i in devices) {}

    If (devices [i] instanceof VcVirtualDisk) {}

    size [h +] = [i] devices, .capacityInKB / 1024 / 1024;

    Total += devices [i] .capacityInKB / 1024 / 1024;

    }

    }

    return to the total;

    Thank you

  • What is the maximum size of virtual disk in machines virtual esxi 4.0

    I am trying to create a virtual disk to a virtual machine, I want to make the size of the 300 GB disk but its not allowing to create.

    Can I know what is the maximum size of virtual disk, we can create in machines virtual esxi 4.0 with vmfs3 partition

    The maximum size of the virtual disk that you can use depends on the size of the selected block when formatting of the data store. With the default of 1 MB block size, the maximum size of virtual disk on a VMFS-3 datastore is ~ 256MB.

  • Get the size of the disk of the virtual computer

    Hello!

    As I learned to extend a drive partition, I note that when you run the cmdlet, the total size of the disk is necessary.

    Is it possible to give only the difference between the actual size and the size future? IF I want to extend a 40 GB drive, I have to give, at the request of the cmdlet 45 GB info if I want to expand to 5 GB. Is there a way to only put the information in a way to hide the value 45 GB or 5 GB?

    I'll post more information later. pls ask if there is any doubt. TKS

    Why should you spend CMD PowerCLI?

    You can run the CMD of PowerCLI commands.

    Something like this should work

    function Increase-HarddiskBy{
      param(
        [PSObject]$Harddisk,    [int]$IncreaseGB  )

      Set-HardDisk -HardDisk $Harddisk -CapacityKB ($harddisk.CapacityKB + ($IncreaseGB*1MB)) -Confirm:$false}

    $extraSpace = 10

    $vmName = Read-Host "Enter the name of the VM" $vm = Get-VM -Name $vmName

    $hd = Get-HardDisk -VM $vm | where {$_.Name -eq "Hard disk 2"}
    Increase-HarddiskBy -Harddisk $hd -IncreaseGB $extraSpace
    "\\pacotes\software$\vdi\Scripts\extdisk_.bat $vmName $extraSpace"

  • Reduced block size but no big change on the disk storage

    Hi all

    This is my first post on this forum and I hope that I won't have any rule of Recommendation to report a question completely distinguish...

    I need your advice on the disk storage of a BSO cube, here are the details:

    Make tests on a cube of OSI, I reduced the size of the block of 76 032' to 11'232 bytes. Then, I was interested to check if the disk storage has been reduced... So, I took the same set of data and loaded into the old structure as well as in the new structure. For both structures, I have applied exactly the same calc script + has not changed any other settings (such as "cache" for example).

    When I checked the results, I was really surprised because with the same set of data, it must 13go to the old structure and still 10 GB for the new even if the size of the block is really small... I've heard that "compression" could play a role here, but except for the compression, you have an idea of the reason why the disk storage is not smaller whith the new block size?

    Thanks in advance for your different tips and best regards,
    Laurent
    P.S: the density is not very good because I tried to do tests on a smaller data set than the real...

    ^ ^ ^ You just stated that all of the data is not representative and is actually smaller than reality. So that means you load (approximately) the same set of data in large blocks and small blocks. Guess what happens when it is compressed...

    To answer your question, the real test would be, for a number of limited but representative of blocks (good luck with that one), blocks of size reduced and complete tests. That will give you real world block size.

    BTW, I'm guessing / hoping that you did all members of dense upper level dynamics. There is almost never (well, sometimes, but really very rarely) a reason to store the dense upper limbs at level. A large part of the time forms dense member of lower level can also be set to dynamic.

    Kind regards
