XP - memory low resources?

I am running Windows XP Media Center, with a Windows Media Center extender.  As part of the installation, the Microsoft software is installed an Extender resource monitor - if the monitor is in the red, you might have some performance issues with your media extender.

Mine is normally seated at the Green, or anything, but for the last few days it has pegged to red, with poor performace resulting.  Here's what it looks like:

http://members.Shaw.ca/Glave/AV/system_resources_low.jpg

http://members.Shaw.ca/Glave/AV/resource_monitor.jpg

He tells me that I am running out of memory.  When I look at my processes running in Task Manager, the memory seems OK:

My system properties are listed here:

http://members.Shaw.ca/Glave/AV/system_properties.jpg

Here is a list of what is configured to run at startup:

http://members.Shaw.ca/Glave/AV/startup.jpg

A reflection as to why it is pegging in the Red?

Thanks in advance.

Then, I'll make the NVIDIA update.

Some googling turns to the top of discussions and an update rollup or two for the Extender:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=85BB96A5-3B50-4071-9A2A-8774B3104F6A&displaylang=en#QuickDetails

All the posts I've read seem however to a few years.

This is a popular 'solution' that I read:

Turn off the Extender and you won't see it.

I think that somewhere, paint is watered - I can download and reinstall?

    Hi ebjeebee,

This problem can occur for the following reasons:

    • If the bitmap file is a compressed format that Paint cannot read. For example, paint does not support CVID compressed bitmap files. If you try to open such a file in Paint, the above error message occurs.
    • If the default image for the paint attributes are too large. This setting depends on the memory and disk space.
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
    • If you receive the error message above when opening a bitmap in Microsoft Paint, the only resolution at this time is to open the bitmap file in another program.
    • If you receive the error message above when opening Microsoft Paint, follow these steps to fix it:

    a. open an existing bitmap.

    b. in the Image menu, click attributes.

    c. click on default and then click OK.

    d. on the file menu, click Save as and save the bitmap with a new name.

    e. close and restart Paint.

    Hello

    1. when it last work very well?

2 recent changes on your computer?
    3. is this problem only with paint?

    4. what service pack is installed on your computer?

    Method 1:
If you receive the error message above when opening a bitmap in Microsoft Paint, the only resolution at this time is to open the bitmap file in another program. I suggest you perform the steps to fix:
    a. open an existing bitmap.
    b. in the Image menu, click attributes.
    c. click on default and then click OK.
    d. on the file menu, click Save as and save the bitmap with a new name.
    e. close and restart Paint.

    Method 2:
If this step does not help then you can perform a System File Checker on your computer and check if it works.

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file.  You can check the link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Once the SFC scan is complete, you can also try running these two commands at the elevated command prompt.
    a. right click on command prompt and open it as administrator
    b. run the two commands regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll and regsvr32 /i zipfldr.dll

  • MS Paint build upwards: not enough memory or resources to complete the operation

I call this iguana impressive in the painting and I wanted to color. I decided to go for a black and white look and configured settings and chose the black and white, to give me the white instead of color.
I zoomed to 300% zoom, white selected as color 1 and the third from the right in the second row color 2. Then, I selected the Eraser tool and started colouring the white background on the iguana by using the right button of the mouse.
I tried several times and each time after about 30-60 seconds MS paint show me this message:

There is not enough memory or resources to complete the operation.
Close some programs and try again.

When this happened, I checked the task manager that I couldn't understand something like that was the case. Apparently, I was using only about 60% of my 2 GB of memory, mspaint.exe using somewhere between 9,000 - 14,000 K according to the Task Manager.

I tried to open a new mspaint and redo the same thing as above designated: zoom 300%, black and white, Eraser, white as color 1, which other than 2 colors right click, paint using the eraser: after some time, same result.

    What is going on?

I use an Eeebox EB1012 with 2 GB of RAM, double heart Intel Atom 330, Win7 (naturally)

EDIT: If this is not clear enough: ms paint would not react after the above mentioned message was posted and I had to end the process using Task Manager.

    Hi DrenchedIguana,

Let us try the following workaround and check if this helps us solve this problem.

    Method 1.
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

Let us, make sure that all instances of MS Paint are closed before performing the following operations:
    1. click on start, run, type regedit, and click OK to start Registry Editor.
    2. navigate to this key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint
and remove the key from the paint.
    3. exit the registry editor and restart the computer.
    4. start the paint to see if your problem has been resolved.

    Method 2.
If the problem persists then I recommend that you create a new user account and check if the problem exists. If the problem is resolved in the new user account, I advise you to fix the corrupted user profile.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I fix memory low memory leak?

    Hello

    The problem

When you run CC Photoshop or Illustrator CC my PC gives me low memory warnings and eventually freezes. I had the same problem on my laptop working with these programs. Windows Memory Diagnostic tool reports that my computer has no problem of memory.

    Background and diagnostic information

All updates have been downloaded. I seem to have two versions of Photoshop on my desktop: 2014 Illustrator & Illustrator 64-bit; 2014 Photoshop & Photoshop 64-bit.

    Questions

I have an operating system 64 - bitshould I uninstall the version of 2014 for these two programs to solve this problem?

And how do I get two versions installed on my computer in relation to creative clouds in the first place?

    Patricia Scott

    I'll answer my own question

Yes, the problem of escape memory was caused by my having two conflicting versions of Illustrator and two contradictory versions of Photoshop. I uninstalled versions of 2014 and have not had a problem since.

  • Regarding the Unlimit tab in memory/CPU resource

    Hello

Could someone please explain to me why this "Unlimitied" box is provided for the CPU and memory in the Allocation of resources for Vm. If I have 1024 MB memory and 1 VCPU were awarded and the unlimited check what will this affect?

    Thank you

    Amit

    Amit,

A virtual machine is always limited by the overall maximum configured for him.

The limit in this user interface control and physical resources booking max virtual machine can use. For example a virtual machine allocated 1 GB of RAM with a 512 limit cannot get more than 512 MB of physical RAM that is so necessary, 512 balance will come from Exchange. When a limit is not set, it could potentially use all available RAM up to its max physical memory config

    Hope that helps

  • Virtual memory low = off Premiere CS3

Thought I would try here first rather than the other Board of Premiere Pro all.  Here's what happens:

    1. I don't have ANY other application running on my computer, other than the basic system and antivirus stuff.

    2. when I open the first, I can take both followed a slow delay action.

    3. after the 5th action or so, I get the message "your system runs on low virtual memory.

    4. I've already paid my VM.  I updated recently both initial and Custom 3500 MB. I have 35K MB available. Can I go higher than that? What are the parameters of others?

    5. I have check the processor in the Task Manager and first runs at about 650, 000 K. Is this normal?

    5. then, the software stops. Bloop.

Thank you in advance for your advice/comments/help.

CS3 has been known to memory leaks, but the updates have resolved that. So the first question is, you have the latest updates?

Dell laptops computers are well known (not only Dell, but more brands non-Sager) for their missing disk i/o. You need at least two SATA (7200 RPM) drives according to the minimum requirements and more for comfortable editing. Virtual memory is quite low considering only 2 GB of RAM. Defragmenting your drive and use the optimization of startup to defragment the file of the page as well.

What type of material you are editing, what codec?

  • VMware product: Question on memory and resources

    Hello VMware community and others.

I have a question about VMware. I can't understand some things, so I need help.

    1. can I create virtual MEMORY (as my physical in my computer memory) hard disk and use it for the memory of the VM?

(I thing anything like a (vmdk) file that will simulate the physical memory in a certain proportion without my)

memory of the computer, only with a file on my hard drive)!

    Can I do it?

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the community - with VMware Workstation you are limited to the amount of memory installed on the host computer - by the documentation of the work - station

The total amount of memory you can assign to all virtual machines running on a single host machine is

limited only by the amount of RAM on the host machine - page 12 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/ws80-using.pdf

With vSphere, you can overcommitt memory
