XP to Windows 7, slightly corrupt XP

Yesterday, due an upgrade doubtful of Comodo antivirus, I had a lot of trouble to start.

That I did, but only by using a cheat code because XP was asked to activate windows (that I made years ago of course) and showed a corrupt, almost empty window so I could not.

I walked around it, so I have the 'trial' period of 30 days.

I plan to upgrade to Windows 7, mainly because a few of my software I know be OK with it, but not of Windows 8.

I know that it will produce a "clean" installation I already saved data files, send files, etc. But this activation problem would still continue? And this new facility will still retain the drivers?

The computer is a Clevo M76T with no software, about three years ago, I bought and used my XP disk in a previous machine, dead. I also have the drivers disk, but they are all for Vista as far as I can tell.

So I could reformat the drive and start again, but he prefers to go the approved route.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Vista drivers may or may not work. With regard to the actual upgrade as long as you have your original XP product key / COA, you can use a Windows 7 upgrade disk.

You another option is to see if you can create a Dual Boot with XP and Windows 7 is installed on your computer.

  • Windows Installer is corrupt on my Vista computer

    Title of the Moose: Windows Installer is corrupt or deleted on my computer. I tried to re-installing/repair Vista SP2 and Windows Installer 4.5 - or will be installed.

    Hi Please help... I can't install anything on my "puta.  I can't run a recovery as all my records are stored.  I spent two hours of Microsoft technical support who could not stop talking.  There must be a way I can either crazy, the system to uninstall and reinstall SP2.  Because it's the installer that is affected, nothing else can install or uninstall.

    I tried to go into computer and manage and Services but by clicking 'Start' on Windows install would not work because it has lost the thread.

    Very grateful for any help that I can not get my work without the program I want to install!

    Cheers, Sara

    Hello Sara Star,.

    I suggest that you try to run a SFC/scannow to address all of the corrupted system files?
    Click Start
    Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
    At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

    This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Reboot your system.

    However, if there are corrupted files, found, most of the time you're going to need your installation CD to repair the files.

    If this does not help, you must do an upgrade and repair the installation. If your installation CD is not available, see if you can borrow a Vista CD from a friend to fix it.

    Please reply back and let us know if this can help.

    Sincerely,

    Borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD(not Dell, HP, etc Recovery DVDs) to do a repair installation

    If you see a startup Neosmart repair disk download here, this is NOT what you want.

    You want a good Vista DVD that contains the operating system files.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you need a recovery media for your laptop back to factory settings, read this info:
    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.
    There is no Vista free download legal available.
    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Windows 7 Pro corrupted disk

    Rebooting, my computer is a "check disk". I get a message "cannot open volume for direct access...". Use system restore. When I try to restore to an earlier date, I get a message "windows has detected corruption of files on local disk (C) system. You should check the drive for errors before you can restore it.

    Thank you.

    Bill

    Assuming that you have not scheduled a chkdsk to run at the next reboot of your system:

    If your system is running a chkdsk, it means that Windows has found the volume to be 'dirty' and will make an effort to solve the problem by running chkdsk with fixed error (chkdsk/r) of Windows startup.

    A volume may become dirty things such as a power failure, power failure, taken by pulling, using the power/reset button, etc. While Windows is running off the battery.

    One of these events before this incident?

    If you can get to a command prompt, you can check the volumes:

    You can query the dirty bit on a volume from the prompt with administrator privileges.

    Click on the Start orb button / and in the box type the following:

    cmd.exe

    Right-click on cmd.exe and select run as Administrator:

    To query the bit of impurity on the C drive, type the following in the command prompt window:

    fsutil dirty query C:

    Example of output should be one or the other of:

    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C is NOT dirty

    You should check each of your volumes or each hard disks (C, D, E, etc.).

    It wouldn't make sense to try and install Windows if the file system is corrupt, but who knows...

  • 2 revolutionary war does not not on Windows 7 (graphic corruption)

    I just installed the game 2 war of independence (which is a game of 2001) on Windows 7. He used to work on XP, and it does not work until the main menu of windows 7. However, at the time of entry in the physical game (i.e. using the graphics engine of the game), much graphical corruption occurs and the game hangs and I have to use the Task Manager to close. He once gave me the BSOD also. All my other games (the most recent including red faction guerrilla, crysis, farcry 2) everything works perfectly. I suspect it could be cos its an old game, so it could be the graphics driver that I need to roll back or even windows 7. I need to know if anyone has this problem and if they have found a solution for it.

    I have a Core i7 with a Palit Geforce GTX 275 and 2 GB of RAM Corsair DDR 3. I read a lot of cases where people are playing this game on Windows 7 without any problem. Please let know us if you want more details to help me with this problem I really love this game, but I also like Windows 7.

    Dexter83,
    If you have updated your driver graphic and tried the game in compatibility mode so it's not much else you can do.  Game developers (if he's still around) will have to create a hotfix or an update for the game.  You can check the forum I-war2 on the Atari website.  They may have more specific information about the do work with WIndows 7. 2. do you have a product key that is provided when you purchased the computer?

  • Windows xp sp3 corrupted/missing windows system32\config\system

    Due to the plant after installing sp3, I got the message: "windows has not start because the following file is mising or corrupted \windows\system32\config\system."

    Then, I preformed another destructive restore. again, had the same message. Instead of making another destructive recovery, I did a repair.

    Everything was fine, installed all updates etc. Until I installed sp3. I woke up, started the pc and ONCE again, got the same message.

    I have a HP a375c running windows xp (with sp3).

    I can occasionally, to restart, and it will load. But it's unstable. I can't trust to continue trying to restart and then ultimately won't be able to end.

    I also received a message: c:\i386\dist\system32\dll.dll can not be recovered.

    The system is unstable. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Apparently, will not be supported sp2 for my system more, Windows XP 32-bit Home Edition.

    How can I fix? It seems to me, that's a problem with sp3.

    I'm tired of performing, destructive and non-destructive, System Restore, etc. Over and over again. Only that it is down. As you know, doing the recovery takes ALL DAY, having to get all updates.

    Help, please...

    I use the original recovery cd of HP.

    HP Pavilion A375c Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit

    I changed the drive (long ago) of chkdsk, found no problems.

    I added Ram.

    This message refers to the hive of the registry.  Is to say that the registry is missing or corrupted, in which case it cannot be loaded.  the question is what is the cause of registry errors.

    It would again be a failing hard drive? Perhaps, your poor quality in windows software installation.  Perhaps, you use your system very strongly but not to keep optimized/set up as regular check records and defragments.

    the disk check reconcile file in the file system to the master file table.  because as long as the files are indexed on the mft, then they won't show up missing.  and Defrag makes sure that the files on the disc are not highly fragmented, as your registry hive.   If one of the many fragments that make a single file corrupted, then all the fragments that becomes unusable.

    so, my suggestion is that if you do not have access to a cd to boot xp in order to launch the recovery console and access the drive prompt, then try to do a boot-able with utilities on that cd so that you don't have to use your recovery cd.

    I did not one of them provided by this site, but I've not heard bad things on this subject: http://www.ubcd4win.org/index.htm

    then when you finally get to the disk prompt run command >:

    Chkdsk /r

    the slash r will mark bad sectors on your hard disk and make windows to ignore the wrong places when writing data to the hard drive in the future.

    also, since you seem to escape that you get this type of error several times, then my suggestion is to make a backup of your registry hive.  This way you can restore via a boot-able floppy.

    If the disk check / r fails to correct the problem with the registry, then you can replace it with a base in a safe place inside the windows folder.

    Keep us updated on your condition.
