Xserve 2009 unique full fan speed

Xserve has 1 fan of the fan which is stuck at full speed, exit number 3 of the fan is stuck around 14000 rpm, with all the rest made 4000-5000 rpm, as usual. Ive done PRAM/NVRAM reset, reset SMC, the usual suspects.  Nothing seems to make a difference, I even changed the fan by another on the table but the 3rd plug fan still works at a ridiculous speed.

This server was running and running well until November, it was then arrested and turned on for the first time yesterday and then introduced me to this problem the moment when its switched on.

IM out of ideas, someone came across this before?

If the reset of the SMC and (less likely to help) NVRAM did not work, so if you have deleted and reposition the table fan and tried again, then - if all this does not - and you have swapped the fan chart for a replacement, then all that's left is probably here perhaps a bad cable or a bad connection or bent PIN.  Be attentive to the corrosion or crud around the connection and clear than.   Swap the cable, then.   Also remove any accumulation of dust - the 'chunnel' contributions and the heat sinks tend to connect to Xserve.  In addition to dusting, I would probably swap the batteries while in the area.

  • Satellite R830 random freeze with no way to take back control - full fan speed

    Hello
I've been Googling autour for a bit now, looking for a solution to what could be a hardware problem.

Randomly my Satellite R830 suddenly freezes and the speed of the fan running at full speed. It's actually a useful way to be immediately aware that my computer crashed. Everything is frozen, the only way out is to force via the power button.

I hit the same description on several Web site for different models of Toshiba, return of 2009. It seems that the problem is still there! I also read testimonials from this problem for Windows and Linux OS. I use a Debian Squeeze, which does not detect the newspaper when the accident occurred.

Sometimes it can be fine for a week, but recently, the computer freeze at least once a day, which is not acceptable for a new laptop.

I am really getting concerned if something will be done soon, or if I should ask for an Exchange and pray to be spared. I use my laptop on a daily basis for professional use, and so I would definitely prefer another solution. I have been waiting for 4 months now and just update my BIOS 3 days ago from Web site of Toshiba with no noticeable improvement. the computer crashed 4 times in the last 2 days.

If someone managed to overcome this problem, I would be very grateful for the tip!

    Hello

A question: do you have a fingerprint reader?

I got this Toshiba document that describes a problem similar to yours.
This problem can be caused by old fingerprint software you need to update this software where you have a fingerprint reader.

  • Pavillion Q8300 - p6267c: Fans periodically but regularly light up full normal speed on desktop under loads

I have a desktop computer of p6267c 5 years or more running Windows 7 Home Premium - 64-bit.  He was a great computer with no problems other than a graphics card failed out of the box when it was delivered first, but that was immediately replaced under warranty.

A little less than a week ago I was using the computer when I thought I might have heard a strange noise light (no rain), and then I heard the fans go on full blast for a few minutes then slow down.  Fans were left like that maybe a handful of times under very heavy load in any of the previous five years.  This time, however, five minutes later and they are back on full blast (very strong and sensitive) once again, for a minute or more then quite new.  This continued to occur regularly even though I was not any kind of important treatment, surfing and normal web documents changes.

I shut down the computer, turned off and taken to look at the case where I could see that some dust has put up on the vents.  I removed the side cover, cleaned the vents and then little compressed air used for blowing significant dust that had built up inside as well, in various places.  I got to where I couldn't see more dust comes out so I put the cover back and booted up.

Same fan periodical bursts has occurred.  I was now concerned I might have a virus or malicious software that was causing the CPU to do something extreme every few minutes, even though I see nothing in the Task Manager, so I ran a full scan with Norton.  Came back clean.

I looked more closely to monitor resources and another program, I had display the temperature of the CPU core and could see that some of the drivers were receiving up to perhaps 25 to 40% of the use and the core, the temperature rose from 60 to 85-90 degrees fahrenheit when fans full blast, then they would go offshore as CPU level dropped and temperature.

I tried to take off the side cover and have a regular fan box blow a little nearby to make sure there is plenty of air circulation around the chassis, but that made no difference. I was able to look at the fans, and all of them look like they work very well, even at full blast.  The rear fan, the fan on the GPU and the fan on the sink sit directly on the CPU cooling.

By continuing to use the compueter and look more closely at exactly when fans come on full blast, I think it is especially when there are web video (classified ads or videos on the news sites, sports facilities, etc.).  My understanding is that the CPU in general should do more work with the latter due to the cancellation of video compression and it is the CPU that, not the GPU.  Happens a bit similar, but not as always if there are a lot of pictures on a site.  Also occurs when the computer is first starting or stopping.

I am now at a loss that suddenly causing this or what to do?  Five years and nothing, now half of websites that I will because of gusts full fans blowing.  The computer seems to be OK otherwise, but I'm afraid that I don't want to damage from excess heat if the problem persists.

The only thing I can possibly think now is to take off the CPU cooling heatsink and fan, clean more thoroughly and reapply the thermal paste in the hope that it is a bad connection between the processor and heatsink cooling that makes them become hot and have the computer make the only possible choice, telling fans to go at full speed in an attempt to cool everything.  I'm just worried that if it's not her, I am risking possibly destroy my computer just as I've never tried remove a CPU cooling sink and before reconnecting.  So, I don't want to do something that could make matters worse if it is a solution very unlikely.

    Thank you.

    Doug

Well, I ended up buying a combination of heatsink / fan replacement.  Not exactly the one originally supplied with the computer, but basically the same thing.  The main difference being the new had a record of copper at the bottom where it comes in contact with the CPU, rather than just bare aluminum.

I removed the old radiator, remove the paste heat, applied new paste again and the new heatsink of heat and all seems OK now.  Blower not more.  Yet once, I don't know how the heat sink went 'wrong', but maybe something broke or the fan is unbalanced, I don't know.

Fortunately, it looks like it cost me ~ $35 between the new heatsink of heat and thermal paste to fix and maintain your computer.

  • Tecra R950 fan speed

    Hello

I have Tecra R950 (PT530A - 00S 001) and find that the fan works almost full/high speed all the time.

I am running Windows 8.1 and run on the balanced power setting.

Is it a common problem with this model?

Someone can give me some info or measures to be taken to diagnose the problem or should I just send it to Toshiba as a guarantee?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

I wouldn't say it s common issue because of fan activity depends on its portable use.
The fact is that the CPU/GPU performance leads to a temperature higher due to the dissipation of the heat and this leads to a stronger fan activity

There's not a lot of parameters that could be changed next settings in the Windows Advanced Power Options. Here you can change the method of cooling under operation on battery and you can also decrease the max performance of the processor to 100% at a level more down to let's say 80-90%

I would not try to change the speed of the CPU fan. Clean the case out if its full of dust (if it's a desktop computer). If you can put more fans in the case, put more fans in it

Check with the manufacturer Support system and forums (if any) that there are known problems.

  • p6727c fan speed

I just got a refurbished p6727c.  The CPU fan seems to be running at full speed (RPM 3040 according to SpeedFan) all the time, even under low loads CPU.  I checked the BIOS updates but don't see not listed.

    Is this normal?

Well, I'm embarrassed to say that the response was simple and easy. I followed the suggestion of HP use F5 to restore the default settings of the bios, and fan speed control seems to work.

  • Graphic fan speed problem.

    Hello guys,.

I use Envy15 - 3033CL and its graphics card is the radeon HD7690M.

    Operating system is Win8.

When I play LoL, the graphic fan speed goes faster, and when I leave the game, the fan speed will not slow down. There is Full-Speed forever. He needs to restart.

    He also performed in win7.

I have installed Chipset Driver Intel and AMD driver catalyst normally, but this problem still bothers me.

Sometimes the fan works well, but now it fails.

Maybe some drivers installed strangely, but I think that I reinstalled the drivers with respect to graphics chipsets.

Please help me to solve this prob.

Sorry for my bad English. Thank you

Thank you for the update. Use another day or two and let me know if it's as it should be. I hope it is.

    Thank you

  • Satellite C660D - software to control the fan speed?

Just brought a C660D. Someone knows the software to control the fan speed?

My laptop CPU fan always turns to 74-80% of max speed. That's a lot of noise. I tried cpucool, but it did not work.

If does not work, the fan speed will remain at the temperature of 0 with cpu at 38 oC. But with any operation tiny, like the click of the mouse, it will change again to 74%, CPU temperature does not change.

    Hi Polaralbatross,

Have you ever tried the Eco mode that uses the cooling battery optimized method?

  • Start of satellite L10 fan speed and noise

My L10 cooling fan start always maximum speed, when it turns on it always burst at maximum speed (and noise) and then slow down to a speed (and slient relative). This fan start noise is very annoying (as fan departure every half hour in office work and every 15 minutes in some simple games).
I try muffler or bios settings performance they do not fix the noise and the starting speed.
Maybe Toshiba could release some bios update or patch or something to fix this? (my bios version 2.0)
Maybe this problem has the solution software thrid party?
Or the fan speed max is just a hardware problem?

    Thank you.

    Hello Albert

The same thing my Qosmio F20 and in my opinion, it is not any kind of technical problem. At the moment I'm typing this text and hear Internet radio at the same time. The cooling fan works regularly.

In my opinion, when the operating system runs several different processes running in the background and they need the CPU activity that needs to be cooled correctly. In my opinion, you should check the power settings management settings and change the performance of the processor to lower the level.

If the cooling fan runs every 15 minutes, in my opinion, it is not too often.

    Good bye

  • Satellite U500 - temperature/fan speed of degradation after overheating

The hard drive of my laptop suddenly developed a load of bad blocks without reason apparent, so I replaced it. I started a live linux CD to copy the old drive to the new and left running overnight. When I came back to him, he ran VERY hot. It's not well crushed.
    * Since then, the fan worked up a gear more often than before *, in the original Windows installation.
Use a temperature monitoring program, I can see a temperature which is constantly higher than both the CPU and GPU, and I think this must be the problem. I can only think that it is setting the fan speed based on this incorrect measure. I don't know where this temperature is measured, and unfortunately I do not know what it was before the problem started. The new HDD is cool, so it is impossible that the change that caused the problem.
Someone knows something I could try to fix this?

    Hi Blah_1,

You probably have a higher internal temperature because your new HARD 7200 RPM drive instead of 5400 RPM. For hard drives at 7200 RPM are originally more heat during the backup process racing portable to use high CPU if it s normal behavior that he s hotter than normal.

In any case, the laptop must be also cleaned from time to time using a jet of compressed air as described here:

    Hi Geoffrey,.

If your fan speeds up often means that your laptop is overheating. Try cleaning your CPU heatsink with a vacuum cleaner. You will find this described several times in this forum.

  • How can Qosmio G30-126 - I check the fan speed?

    MODEL: G30 - 126
    OS: VISTA 32-BIT SP2

How to know the speed of the fan? I have try several programs like "sensor hw monitor" & "fan speed" but it's not watch everything think about the temperature of the CPU just fan speed.

Where is the problem and what I need to do?

Hmm... Why you want to know the speed of the fan?

The fan speed will be automatically controlled and you can t change this or manually control. You can change the method of cooling between performance and battery optimized in Vista power management. Did you check that?

In addition, you can clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air as Akuma written. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

  • Qosmio F50-126 - fan speed never htting maximum

    Hey

This question been bothering me for a long time but was too lazy to write about it. When I start my laptop, you can hear the fan speed reaching its maximum RPM. But during the game when the laptop is about to reach its maximum temperature for restart, the speed of the fan never hits its maximum RPM. It always seems to be about 50 percent when it will hit the threshold of overheating.

Can you tell me how to solve this problem, so the laptop is we fan maximum RPM during the games or another cpu/gpu intensive process?

I have the latest BIOS and drivers installed to date.

Plan to use everything at stake?
Check the method of cooling for this power plan and set it to maximum performance.

  • Is satellite A500-1DN - possible to adjust the fan speed?

Is it possible to adjust the speed of the fan of this laptop? As I saw in PC Health monitor the fan speed is mainly of 0%, and sometimes it amounts to 70% (on idling) and quite large making noise.
I wish to address is it permanently on.

    Is this possible?

    Hello

    > Is it possible to adjust the speed of the fan of this laptop? As I saw in PC Health monitor the fan speed is mainly of 0%, and sometimes it amounts to 70% (on idling) and make a big enough noise

I agree with you, I also own a500-1dn and it makes big noise even while surfing Internet. This forum was suggested to update Bios to reduce the fan noise.
