You cannot change an AVI on windows movie maker

I converted my MOV to Avi file using a converter to Director of windows it would open but when I try to open it with movie maker, it says I do not have the codecs, I tried tools and compatibility, although there are no boxes for me check or uncheck in the section compatibility, it is empty :/

Try to convert MOV files to WMV format and you could have a better result.

  • Save an AVI with Windows Movie Maker

When I try to record an AVI with Windows Movie Maker saves the file with what I wanted, but then, instead of stopping, he continues to play the part of the beginning of the file, I tried to do, sometimes 3èmes once3 and with a table of contents as the screen saying inbetwwne directed by: and created using Windows Movie Maker. Help?

Thanks for the link, they're talking about the CPU activity, when you save a file, what is that and how to see what they are talking as in "...". the CPU activity will show pushed upward and down like Movie Maker is thinking and planning. "I now have a problem trying to save sections of the entire project that I then want to add together to make a video with about 500 pictures a.625 and between each picture, there is a fondu.25, I broke down to 100 images at the time and was able to save them as MSWMM files but now when I try and save them as files video it acts like it's going to save , but the timeline never begins to show progress and finally just fails. I know I have enough space on the computer and the images I use have not been moved from their original folder. I save all the original JPEG as BMP files files and who had worked to make videos with but now with the bland added he won't save a video.

    Thank you

  • How do you get the necessary codecs to AVI on Windows Movie Maker files to run?

I tried to open an AVI video file on Windows Movie Maker for the first time, and he said was: "the file cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to re-import the file. »

-What this means and how I can get the codec?

    Help, please!

You must use an application like MediaInfo to identify the missing codec and then download the one you need. MediaInfo can analyze the video file and provide a link to download the appropriate codec. Here are some additional details on How to solve the problems of codec with MediaInfo.

Experienced same problem with Amazon MP3 downloads.  Could not bring to import into Movie Maker.  Read somewhere to convert WMA of the song, but couldn't find out how to do this.  I wanted to download 3rd party software.  Had already created the CD with the songs that I wanted to use mm.   Ripped from this CD for PC with Windows Media Player, which gives you option to change the format.  Changed the format to WMA format and then imported into Movie Maker.  After all, hope this time it helps you, too.

    Hello, guenoun.

I seem to have the same problem as tantoe but when I clicked on the link in your message, it took me to the page, but the person's recommendation was not good; It (don't remember the name) had two links to click & when I clicked on the two I was redirected to a page that says that the page could not be found.

The song with that I have a problem is "I'm in love (with a killer)" by Jeffree Star &, as with all my other audio files that I did NOT have this problem with, is mp3 format. I have a video in mind with this song & pictures I saved star but Windows Movie Maker cannot import it.

If there is anything you could do, advice you could give, I would really appreciate it. This is my favorite song by Jeffree Star & it drives me crazy not being able to import it into Movie Maker. :-/

  • Cannot open a project in Windows Movie Maker after the backup in Windows DVD Maker

I imported with success of media in Windows Movie Maker, Movie published by using Windows DVD Maker as a guest just so that I could see how it would look.  I was able to view what I had engraved on a DVD and was very happy about how he already produces.  When I returned to Windows Movie Maker and tried to open my project to continue adding multimedia elements to it, I can't open it - it tells me that it is not a valid file in Windows Movie Maker.  Can find my project in My Documents in the category Videos, I'm still not able to open it.  I wonder if I shouldn't have saved in Windows DVD Maker.  I hope that I'm not "all over again.

I would greatly greatly appreciate it if anyone can help.  It is a very special project for a class reunion.

This is the first time I used a forum so I hope I've submitted it correctly.

    Thank you!

    NancyLouse,

Windows DVD Maker and Movie Maker store files with different file extensions.  This means that if you named the file 'file Movie Maker' and the DVD Maker 'file' file the real file names would actually file. MSWMM and file. MSDVD

To display the extensions on all the files follow these steps:
-Click on the ORB to start and Control Panel
-In Control Panel, click Classic view in the upper left corner
-Click on Folder Options, click view
-Scroll to "Hide Extensions for known Types file" and uncheck this box

The search in the folder now where you saved these files or use the search function, you should see the 2 different files.

What version of Windows are you using?  If the Windows Vista Ultimate and the file has been deleted somehow you can be lucky.

Vista Ultimate is a feature called previous versions.  To restore the file back to it's previous state, you can do a right click on the folder where the document has been stored (if the Documents may start, right-click on Documents) then go to properties

-Click the previous versions and you will see the dates corresponding to previous versions of the file you are looking at.
-Select a date and time that corresponds to when the file in this folder was in operational condition and double-click the file to open it

Find the file in the folder newly open and drag the file to your desktop (be sure not to drag to the exact location where the file was initially as not to overwrite the file).

    I hope this helps

    =======================================
. MSWMM would be your Movie Maker project file if it is a
complex big project that you have been working on for a while it
can be to reach the limits of your system resources.

Creation of several small projects is better than a large
project. If you save all of them in the movie .wmv format you
can import movie collected files and combine them into
    one final film.

Also... it may be interesting to try to install IE8... I remember
See the reports of users of Movie Maker who has
with IE7. Personally, I went straight from IE6 to IE8.

  • Impossible to import a clip in Windows Live movie maker or regular Windows movie maker avi video

    Original title: Director of windows

I can't import a clip avi video in windows movie maker direct or regular windows movie maker. Only the audio comes through. If I have the video edited and produced in other video software, such as cyberlinkthen the video and audio will come by for me to change. I am able to import it into windows movie maker. I use vista 64-bit. What should I do to make this work? Do I need a special codec? I use a hp pavilion p6140f computer

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    1. This only happens with a particular file type?

This seems to be a codec problem. Some files supported by Windows movie maker again you will need to install a codec before you can use the files in Windows Movie Maker.

You can use your favorite search engine to download and install a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    ================================
The change of setting to: Tools / Options /.
Advanced... tab applies only to the added clips
to the timeline * after * you change the setting.

If you switch to view "Storyboard" and select
all of the clips as a batch (select one and the type...
CTRL + A)... you can add the 'Speed Up, Double.
or "Slow down, half" effect of changing the
duration. Simply select all clips / right click
the effect on the menu... Choose...
    Add to storyboard table.

'Speed Up, Double' cuts the duration of half.

"Slow Down, half ' double life.

These effects can be added up to six times.

    If you need finer adjustment...
    the info may be useful:

You can change the duration for each clip

I made a movie a few weeks previously registered, get in there a few days later and made more copies. Today, I tried again and I keep getting a message that the file is not valid. I tried opening upward in the creation of DVD and it keeps saying that it has failed. I tried the suggestion of unlicking the box under the sign that says (hide extensions of known file types) - which didn't work. I tried opening the film again and all my imported data is there... just not the movie itself...

    Help, please!

Yes, it's the same information I read in other forums. I closed the movie maker and tried to reopen the case. I always get an error message that is not valid. I can't find any other file that does not end in MSWMM. After that I closed the error message. All data are available in the media imported section, but the Council of the timeline or history is completely empty / blank - but I know that he was saved several times...

If the film itself has disappeared... is there a way I can get it back?

    ===========================================
If you cannot open the MSWMM file in Movie Maker file must
be damaged. Best bet would be to recreate the project.

As for the movie... unless you have published (saved) project in the
Film WMV or AVI format... it was never a real movie file.
