  • Does restart/reboot the computer after installing or uninstalling a program?

Original title: does restart/reboot the computer after installing or uninstalling a program? Which option is it on Vista? Hit reboot? Or off, wait and then start up?

I was told that if you add or remove a prgram, after it installs you need to 'reboot '.

    Is this true?

Does this mean that, after the program is installed, you must reach the restart button? Or press 'stop' and then again wait a minute and then be able to save the PC?

Often an installation or uninstallation of will need to reboot to complete and it never hurts except for the

  • Cannot install Installer.exe - a program "a newer version already exists"...?

I try to install Seagate Manager (I have a Seagate external hard drive for years and it worked fine).

I received an upgrade, and therefore he (Seagate Manager) software has stopped working.

I spend hours with the friendly support of Seagate to re - install the Manager, including the old version.

"But every time that the installation stops at halfway and I get a message: cannot install software - a newer version already exists.

    The technician tried everything-no results.

I was told that it must be a registry error / number of Microsoft of bribery...

How can I find the problem?

I searched the registry for leftovers under the name of Seagate Manager: no results

I use CCleaner, which I trust and have no problem with - no result

MY machine is up to date, running smoothly, quickly, in good shape all - score 7.4

I ran all available maintenance tasks, sfc scannow, diskcheck, etc.

What other options do I ave to eliminate the alleged 'new version' - or what ever it is intended to prevent the re - install?

    Thanks in advance

I use CCleaner, which I trust.

-> If you trust in the service of 'cleansing' of any registry cleaner, then you are a member of a small minority.

    The technician tried everything-no results.

-> The message you see is triggered by Seagate Software. Only Seagate engineers would know these triggers, but it seems that they do not pass them on to their support department. They could consist of a file, an entry in a file or a registry key. Given the very large number of keys from registry and values, it is impossible to find relaxation by trial and error. ("Registry cleaners" facing the same problem: they cannot possibly know the purpose of each key of registry or the value.) They are just guessing.)

I try to install Seagate Manager (I have a Seagate external hard drive for years and it worked fine).

I received an upgrade, and therefore he (Seagate Manager) software has stopped working.

-> I want to use system restore to get us back to a point before you install the upgrade. Otherwise, I lower the rear machine to the last image I have.

  • Windows XP: cannot install Windows updates or programs

original title: problems with updating programs on Windows XP

    For a few months, I had this problem with my computer when I try to update most of the things. For example, iTunes updates take forever and never actually update. So I'm always several updates behind. This isn't a problem for me yet, but on top of that, my Windows Live Messenger wants to update me to a new version that came out a while ago, but when I try, there is a problem with the Windows Installer service or something. In addition, whenever I try to download various MMORPGS like Maplestory or recently Iris Online or one of their update patches, there is always a mistake, or it is said it is impossible to connect to the internet when I don't know I have a reliable internet connection. Some games offline lemma doesn't install either if I have to get installed on an external hard drive through someone of another PC and then re - copy the files installed on my PC (or just launched from the hard drive) to play some games. I had to completely erase my memory some time back because of a false Spyware and I had to do a manual reinstallation, but had Dell walk me through it on the phone. I don't know if that contributed to the problem or no for sure yet... I'm really tired of not being able to update these things or play games more. Can someone help me out here? If you have further questions about things or you wish to contact me by e-mail directly, just ask. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help you. ^^;

    Hi Tony_Tenacious,

I suggest you try the methods mentioned below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot before proceeding with the update of windows.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, restore your computer to Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Reset the Windows Update components.

Method 4: No detection system file checker (SFC).
