    Original title: error install applications

The error code was troubling me a lot, every time I tried to update the apps or install new applications in the stores. • Apps of the trial error 0 x 80080206, 0x80073cf9

I encountered the following problem on my RT Surface recently trying to try two apps on the Windows Store.  I was trying to install/trial apps to the using the Wi - Fi connection in the library during a stop my RT Surface (I would have kept a look the best on the battery power).   Now when I try to re - download apps, I get the below error messages.  I was wondering what is the solution for this sort of thing if it was to happen again (and I'm always curious about these two apps).

    Surface RT

    Error code: 0 x 80080206

    Apps:

    * Monster Island

    * Ilomilo (error code 0x80073cf9 - the last time I tried)

    Tried:

    * Re-download

Store Cache reset (Windows key + R, and then by running wsreset.exe)

Well, I found a solution for this problem, 0 x 80080206, specifically which I think can solve other cases. Given that, in my view, this code is brought by corrupt packages and that the names of store with random numbers, stored in a logfile God knows where exactly inside c:\windows\system32\catroot 2, the best way would be to delete the files and start again, of course before you start this cancel any application installs underway.

1 - restart in safe mode
go for via the search charm to reboot step forward, set settings as the laptop, then on the screen with new one advanced restart, after restarting your pc, press 4
    2 - go to C:\Windows, and then rename C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution in SoftwareDistribution.old
    3 - go to C:\Windows\System32 and rename catroot2 in catroot2
4 - restart your pc in normal mode (simply select restarts as you normally would) go to windows update in Control Panel, select windows update, change settings and activate Microsoft update
5 - Select search automatically updates (should take about 5 minutes even on good internet)
    6. open the windows store, select the charm of settings, select app updates and synchronize licenses
    7. right click, select my apps, download the applications you need and voila they should start to download (note that they can be glued on in the meantime up to 5 minutes)

PS: 1 - it worked for me when I had a problem with freshpaint, I am downloading right now, so I know it works: p, good luck anyway :)
2 - If you find a better solution, then by all means to talk about it
3-If you are on the internet wrong which is without doubt you for lack of the carrier (and yours) not windows
4-stop the windows store and update services instead of restart in safe mode will isn't cutting it
    5. If everything fails do a refresh of the system, reinstall or forget the stupid app ever existed

I have the same problem. I can not install any app on the Store, still have the same error: «this application has not been installed...» ", and then point to the error code"0x80073cf9 ". I see that a lot of people have the same problem. It looks like a bug in the new Windows 8. I have Windows 8 Pro. I just installed yesterday.

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Hello

Look if the 'AUInstallAgent' file is missing from the windows folder. If this is the case, you will need to create a new folder, rename it to "AUInstallAgent" and restart your pc.

Thank you post from BJArmstrong on October 22, 2013

I wanted just to update this option to add that I had the same problem in Windows 8.1 and the solution was to create the 'C:\Windows\AppReadiness' directory which apparently replaces the directory 'AUInstallAgent' of Windows 8.

Why the Bank cannot simply create the directory if it lacks a true mystery...

  • Windows 8 - the Application cannot get installed, 0x80073cf9 error code

I have a question that I'm not able to find the answers that he.
The question is that it is necessary to install Windows 8.1 to install apps from the store? Cuz recently I received my laptop to format because of a problem of graphics card, and now he has Windows 8. But now I'm not able to install apps and it shows the different error codes, error code mainly 0x80073cf9. I did the AUInstallAgent and AppReadiness solution I found on the internet, but it was of no use. I have not had this type of problem when I had Windows 8.1.
Is there no problem in my laptop, or should I update to 8.1 Windows, because I did not like 8.1 that much.

    Any help is appreciated

    Hi Angus,

Thank you for your message and give us the opportunity to help you.

This error code is usually related to a file which is missing and prevents the installation of the applications.

You can follow these steps to check if they solve the problem.

Method 1: Re-create the folder AUInstallAgent
    a. Press ' Windows and R "keys together to bring up the command window run.
    b. Type "%windir%" without the quotes and press ENTER. You should now be in the Windows folder
    c. look for a folder named "AUInstallAgent". If it is missing in the "Windows" folder, then right click on an empty space and click on "new folder."
    d. rename the folder in "AUInstallAgent".
    e. restart the computer and verify if you are able to install apps.

If the AUInstallAgent folder is already available in the above mentioned location, then continue with the following steps

Method 2: Zero store cache reset
    (a) make a right click the start screen (lower left corner)
    (b) click on 'run '.
Type c): "WSReset.exe" and press enter

Method 3: Check if you are able to install applications to the clean boot.
Follow the steps here to get into the boot.

  • Cannot install the trial apps

    Hello!

As I mentioned in my query, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-store-trial-apps-not-installing/90fb4f61-2823-439d-af20-105c2d68b14d (which was not resolved), I've added Microsoft Account another user to my Windows 8, which was once installed the trial version of some applications (on another computer Windows 8). Now when I want to install the trial version of these applications using my own Microsoft Account, he says that I can not install them because a trial version of this software is already installed on my system (while the other account was used on another computer of Windows 8 to install the trial version... not mine!). Even remove the second user and the removal of the computer name in the store Windows this user's settings did not help.

It remained so for a while, when I decided to test if this mistake was due the second Microsoft user account or what. I connected with my Microsoft Account in a new installation of Windows 8 and tried to install the trial version of these applications. But to my surprise, it gives me the same error even on the new Windows 8.

I suspect that if Microsoft somehow concerning the installation of the trial version of the Microsoft Account app second user, my own Microsoft Account (that we have connected to the same Windows 8) and then the journal it is definitely associated with my account in the cloud. (probably where he keeps track of installed applications). Otherwise why the new windows would say that the trial version was already installed, as the second user (which actually installed in another computer) never had no trace of this new installation of windows. And I have, as I mentioned, has never been able to install them by using my own Microsoft Account!

It means that I will never be able to try these apps now? Please help get these apps of the work process.

    Thank you!

Well, I used my free hours to reach the roots of this. I've done some tests and finally managed to install these applications using my own Microsoft Account. Here's what I did:

    • Installed a temporary copy of Windows 8 on another partition.
    • Connected with my Microsoft account... always impossible to install these applications of the trial.
    • Added a new Account from Microsoft... impossible to install these applications on it also.
    • Removed from this facility.
    • Installed new Windows 8.
    • Connected with an another new Microsoft Account... able to install these applications of the trial.
    • Add my own Microsoft Account... installation started, apps appeared in "Your Apps", but gave the error code 0 x 80070585.
    • Restart the computer and went to my master installation of Windows 8... tried to install these applications from "Your Apps", but still the same error (trial apps already installed on this computer).
    • Restart the computer and went to the last Windows 8 installation (using my own Microsoft Account)... tried install apps 'Your applications', receive the 0x80073cf9 error code
    • Reboot computer and used again this latest Windows 8 installation (using my own Microsoft Account)... testing apps installed successfully.

I don't know what has happened internally to make it work, but it sure is a bug in the Windows Store. I hope Microsoft can use my report to debug it.

Note: These applications will not yet install on my main installation of Windows 8. Now try to install just takes me to the home from the store.
