10 7040 Dell business case

Hi all

Don't know where to post this, but I'm trying to find out if there is a case or a cover for my Tablet 10 7040 venture. I like using only the part of the tablet which is really light but if I want to put it on a foot of them I have to use the keyboard making it very heavy.

Hi fpg,.

It is a sleeve that is available.

  • Tips on how to make a business case for partitioning

    Hello world

I am the architect of a team of business intelligence/data warehouse. We have grown to the point where I think that we need database partitioning. I believe that we are at approximately 1.5 TB of data. Our larger tables are the counts of 100 million lines with relatively large lengths Records (~ 100 columns). Our just a sort of large tables are of the order of 10 million to 50 million, however, they have very long line lengths (~ 300 columns). Based on the plans of our future source system, our data will become even more granular, and it is always necessary to maintain our historical data.

Those who are not the only reasons, but are some conduct issues that make most of our team members think it's time we purchased database partitioning. Our team is fairly unanimous for partitioning, many of our partners from the source system also deem an 'evidence', however, we get a push back of our CIO saying that 1.5 TB and 100 million records is not only the large amount of data compared to other 'big Data' businesses and that it requires no partitioning.

Anyone has any advice on how to make a business case for the purchase of partitioning? Is there a good way to demonstrate the value of profitability-vs?

    Thanks for your comments.

    -= Joe

The best cost c. analysis of benefits is that you put together based on points regardless of the pain you feel.

For example, you have pain around your evening of meeting load ALS? If you do, you can watch how (and if) partitioning would allow you to streamline your loading process and how much time you would save probably every night. If you have no problem hitting your evening load ALS today, however, this probably isn't something you want to focus on.

You have pain around query response time? If Yes, you can watch how (and if) partitioning would improve some of the queries and most important reports. Or, perhaps, he would have you to allow users to do an ad hoc analysis more than you can't afford today because the cost would be prohibitive.

Although you will find no doubt generic cost v. benefit whitepapers, it tends to make a much better case if you focus on what causes the pain of the company and what you as the application developers are willing to commit to. It is easy for a CIO watch a generic white paper saying "partitioning reduces ETL time up to 99%" and the question of what improvements he or she would have actually see and how this is marketing hype. It is much more difficult to look at a document put in place by the data warehouse team saying "partitioning would allow us to reduce the load of X of Y hours on Z hours every night. "That would allow us to hit our SLA w % more often without adding hardware / additional treatment for A project that we have been postpone / let Department B start to work with the data more early every morning / what causes the pain of the IOC. Of course, this means that he must be willing to make such commitments (and, of course, to meet).

  • Reference Dell 790-case SSF: enough space to upgrade?

    Hello

I want to buy a Dell 790 SSF opportunity. Excellent care for a little money and Cap.

I wonder if there will be enough space to add a second hardrive and ad a game (GPU). The game doesn't have to be on the cutting edge. Just enough to play old games.

There is no room for two 3.5-inch storage devices (I installed a pair more and less than 2.5 inches in my SFF), but it has provisions for a discrete video card.

  • Business case for the purchase of Standard vCOPs?

I'm therefore looking for version comparison matrix. Standard offer a handful of features that doesn't Foundation. We were quoted $20K for a standard within our company license. Someone at - it have a bit more in info function of depth that would help make a case for spending this turn (we use Foundation 5.71 now) of the Foundation?

    Thank you

    Ron

Standard has the following advantages over the Foundation:

1 capacity planning, forecasting, reporting and what-ifs.

    2 dynamic thresholds

    3. political configuration to manage settings of resources (thresholds of alert/badge, display settings, etc.)

The capacity planning is in large part where you will be able to justify the $ to senior management. This is where analyze you your use, plan for capacity and increase operational efficiency, current and future. If you have this tool, planning takes as long it takes to run a report or show a view. Without this tool, you'd be in Excel for hours and still not get #s as precise planning.

  • Dell XPS 13 or 15

    Hello

The Dell XPS 13 or XPS 15 there the TPM chip? I'll buy an XPS, but I need to know if it has the TPM to encrypt the disk.

    Thank you

    Jerry

It will probably be the case with 15 institutions.  Systems are sold worldwide, including in countries where the TPM secure cannot be sold.

One in the Microsoft store includes the TPM with the i5-6300HQ processor module.  If you have the TPM module, you're better off buying at Dell Business (in the United States) and checking that the TPM is included on the desired model.  Retail purchase is risky, unless the specifications refer specifically to the TPM.

  • Can I install a brand of operating system on a non Dell of Dell system and then activate successfully?

    brand of windows xp

I bought the dell windows xp with the cd and sticker brand. I installed it on my client PC, and I can activate successfully. This means that it is a legitimate software?

I also see the full version of xp without brand. is it legal to install my client pc?

Brand CD Dell do not come with stickers.

If you have used the product key sticker certificate of authenticity pasted on Dell PC case, you violated the EULA, because the OEM licenses are not transferable.
    EDIT: however...
If your client PC is also a Dell, and as long as the versions of the CD and the corresponding COA sticker (for example, they are both for Windows XP HOME), then you have not violated the EULA.
If you actually have a "full version xp unbranded' (assuming it is OEM) with a product key not USED, it is legal. But the license is going to die with that PC. But you said that "see you". What do you mean exactly?

When the copy of the file on a hard disk to another disk Vista hard real partiton, it copies. But whenever I try to copy it to NTFSdrive USB, copy time continues to increase (cancelled when the transfer rate increased to 3 MB/s, time to copy remaining 11 hours 38% copied), the I/O reduction.

Tried to launch the tool Rich Copy, which reported as 8 I/o operations failed and had to stop copying.

Check the disk (from the virtual image) gives 314 cases of large files, 4 EA records, 88 business cases, NO problem.

I tried to disable cancellation drive, start the computer virtual, reboot & running disk error checking, aok.   OS / works fine.

I can copy other files (virtual hard disk, etc.) in both directions from the USB key. Have executed Optiomizer, disabled Compression and indexing on the USB. The USB is displayed 100% functional and no problem.

It seems to be a problem with the Vista i/o system and the context of the VHD file. Someone else encountered similar problem on Vista, have a solution?

    Thank you

In this case, I don't know.

The only thing I can suggest is Process Monitor when it starts to slow down.

  • Dell order | Configure the utility crashing & empty INI files

"I'm using the" Dell order | Set up' utility 3.0 (formerly called the "Dell Client Configuration Toolkit") to set the setting in the BIOS for all our Dell business machines.
We have a mixture of models of desktop & laptop.

The utility is of course most of the working models, but will not properly work on some models.
I am trying to use the "-o" option to create an "output file" with the current BIOS settings.

    1. when I try to run the utility with the "o" option on an Optiplex 745 or 755, the ini file produced is white with only the header and machine model number.
None of the parameters are saved in the ini file product.

    2. when I try to run the utility with the "o" option on a Precision Workstation T5400, the utility just blocks a second after it is loaded. He never even finished running in order to produce any type of output of ini file.

All models, including those with questions mentioned above, have the latest available BIOS version installed.

Could you please help me to get this utility runs successfully on these three models with questions?
I need to be able to configure them correctly in mass.

    Thank you.

The command utility set up does not support OptiPlex 745 and 755 in accordance with the manual in the installation directory. This is the main reason, I always use the old CCTK since we have several 745 and 755 in production.

  • Locked bootloader - it will be unlocked?

    Hi Motorola,

Everyone knows updated in a Motorola phone is very slow! This leaves users with power with no other option, but to go for custom ROMs. Locked bootloader even there always is a very big problem! Motorcycle has long promised return unlock the bootloaders. DEFY and Defy + are now very old phones and will receive no updates either! So now is there any hope that the bootloaders will be unlocked? This discourages many users of devs and the power to obtain motorcycle phones despite a quality excellent construction. I hope that we get a response and this thread do not die no use!

Summary: If you want your bootloader unlocked, contact and encourage politicians relevant to make it illegal to have these restrictions on your purchase phones and quite cleanand come into contact with Electronic Frontiers Foundation (EFF) or your local equivalent and see what you can do to help the cause. Especially, speak (or otherwise, write) on your representative political.

Motorola has indicated that they have no intention of updating the Defy + ICS (or the Defy to gingerbread). In addition, all the elements of evidence so far suggests that they have no intention of ever unlock the bootloader.

I think that the best way to try to solve this problem is to write and speak, your local MP or the equivalent in any State or country you are. In doing so, the real question to raise is this: should it be legal for a hardware manufacturer lock a device that you buy or own so that you can use their software, when the hardware is able to run software from other providers (or even software home made)? By raising this issue with a PM or similar, a question worth asking is whether he could (or should) legal for Dell to sell a PC (i.e. a generalist computing device, as it's a modern phone) that integrates a software lock such that it will work only editing provided by Dell with Windows XP, and only able to be up to date with Windows provided by Dell services packs and not able to be updated Windows XP purchased to another source, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Linux or indeed some operating system that I decided to write it myself. A perspective material such a computer would be able to perform these other operating systems, or the same operating system from another source, but blocked by this software lock.

You can even enforce the fact that with new computers, they can be configured to start in mode 'trust' so only digitally signed code - pretty much the same way that the bootloader is Motorola - but in these new computers this feature can be disabled by the user, if they wish. Disable secure mode has consequences - some software programs that require secure mode does not work - but this option is open to the owner of the hardware store.

I don't understand why Motorola would not to release more updates for the phone models existing. First of all, develop updates (or even new versions of OS, such as ICS) costs them money in development and testing. Second, if the older phones have the latest operating system it will be less impetus for owners of older phone models to buy new phones: why would they, if they already have the latest software? (Let's ignore that most recent phones tend to have a screen better, be faster, have more memory and all the other reasons why people might happen here). In addition to the damage to reputation by not providing software updates continues and timely for their phones, not providing updates is all win, not lose to Motorola.

I guess the reason why Motorola won't let owners of devices Motorola-product run different versions of the operating system, because they would be able to if the phones have locked bootloaders, is related to the second reason above: Why buy a new device if you have the latest version of the OS even when? However, there are several other arguments that Motorola could deploy to support conservation a bootloader locked, and I'll just briefly beat two of them here:

    1. increase support costs (A) - warranty issues

Argument: If the boot loader is not signed, then people will not be able to mess with their software and then wait for their device to be repaired under warranty when they mess up the software. Thus, the cost of support under warranty will increase.

Answer: There are several ways to approach this.

One would be to provide a bootloader unlocked for a device only when the warranty expires, so that the repair will be no longer covered under warranty anyway.

A second way is for Motorola to provide a service in which they re Flash the phone (as they already do for every single phone that comes repair) expensive. This way, if someone mess the software on their phone Motorola can make a little money on it (even if they want to keep the tax in accordance with the actual cost of someone having to reflash + small margin beneficiary or consumer law may have something to say).

A third way would be to allow users to reflash the firmware on the phone stock (which, I would stress, Motorola, users can and already do if they find the right software).

2 increase support costs (B) - general support (forums, phone, etc.).

Argument: Motorola could begin receiving calls to technical support to users with versions customized OS on their phone. This would increase the cost of the media.

Answer: Motorola could start a support conversation by saying "you run the official stock version of the operating system on the phone" and if the answer is no, are not supported. Better yet, they could direct the user to a link to get the tools you need to reflash their telephone (stock - victory for Motorola restoring), or referring users to a service center for Motorola in which the phone can be reflashed for a free (so restore on stock AND assorted priced reflashing - victory and money for the Motorola)

    3. impact of the possible undeserved reputation

Argument: Motorola Reputation may suffer because people make negative comments about the device based on the use of custom software

Answer: If it was possible for users of flash one OS on their phone, and this behavior were commonplace enough that bad experiences with a custom OS were being widely attributed to the material, so I suspect that people would be also aware of the possibility of using a BONE custom to ask if a custom OS has been used , and if that is may be to blame.

    Summary:

My advice is don't expect Motorola to do anything under their own steam - there is no business case for them to do. I guess Motorola feels there is enough few users who do not want to install customized versions of the operating system on their device (i.e. the device entirely owner) that they can afford to lose, as customers, and the number of people buying new phones for more recent versions of software will be more than compensated for this loss. In doing so, they may be overlooking the role that these users to be able to play in recommending to other phones (or more accurately, suggesting brands to avoid because I know that several Motorola users do). In addition, as long as the competitors of Motorola are also locking phones (for example, S-ON on HTC phones) customers have fewer alternative options that run away from Motorola.

So, if you want Motorola to unlock the bootloader, so do not complain of Motorola - they have demonstrated that they won't listen. Complain to your local MP; get in touch with the electronic freedom group your local area (State or country) as EFF (U.S.A.), FTA (Australia) or other. Motorola and other phone makers, will change their behaviour when required to by law.

In the meantime, you can check on XDA-Developers and other similar sites that provide a wealth of information on how to improve the capabilities of your phone and accidentally destroy.

Edit: fixed formatting, tidied up a bit of text. Twice.

  • Photosmart C-4440: problem of scanning HP photosmart C-4440

Thanks in advance for the help. I have a Dell Dimension 4600i computer of Windows XP that I try to use with a printer HP Photosmart of A-I-O c-4440. (I have also a Windows 10 other home before someone is tempted to tell me just to get a new rig.) The 4600i and the photosmart otherwise work fine.)

Ok. Down to the problem. After I installed the C-440 first and tried to scan I got the 1706 error code: "error 1706. No source valid cvould lies in the analysis of the product. Windows Installer cannot continue." (Try to use the scan key tells me to scan using my computer).

So I tried a few solutions, online HP scan.msi file download and it would not install on my computer. Tried to do it from the disc (help to explore). Double click on scan.msi and has not worked. A box will open on my computer for about 1/4 of a second.

So I thought that I would try to create a path for scan.msi. Went to C:\program files and created a folder I named scan and drag a copy of scan.msi inside (I copied the HP installation disk).

Then I stopped doing 1706 and started getting the error code 1311: ' file not found Source: C:\Program Files\HP\Scan\Scan.cab.» Ensure that the fike exists and that you can access.

Now here's the weird part. If I retry about 5 times to scan after 1311 error, then try to cancel about 5 times, all of a sudden the printer starts the search and I get a page that gives this file options (pdf is already highlighted) and I can click Scan, then click OK and my document is scanned and I have a copy on my PC.

That HP has finally a fire that fix for this problem? Is the problem of my PC? Thank you.

    Dear rb011,

We have solved the problem.   Working from the support document link that you gave me I've found a partial success with option #2.  At first, it didn't work because I got a message, something like "the feature you are trying to use is on a network" when I tried to scan.

So I went on my C: drive and under HP in Program Files and I created a new folder that I named "Scan."  I then went to the hpdisk file that I created and I copied all files scan.cab and scan.msi (found in the setup in a business case).  What I pasted in 'My' folder "Scan".

Now, I can scan without error messages.  My computer takes some time to "think" before scanning begins (the Green must bar go left right several times while he is "recovering information").  But I'll take that vs error messages.

Intersting that the installation process has not created a folder to scan on my computer.

    Thanks for your help.

  • A PCoIP equipped PC Card connection

The iPad client works beautifully, but only to connect to the virtual machines.  I'm trying to connect to a desktop card Teradici PC - I can connect to this (Win7 x 64) machine fine with a client of Teradici zero (EVGA, Dell FX100, etc.) or the VMware View client, but when I use the client for the iPad, the screen resolution is quite compressed (as the office is always set at 1680 x 1050).

I thought that this could be just a restriction on the resolution of the iPad, but when I run the client on my netbook (1024 x 600, worse than the iPad), I get a screen correctly at the scale of 1:1.  Is this a known bug and the limitation of the iPad customer?  Workaround solutions available or will this be fixed in a future version?

This is not supported in sight for Ipad.  The supported way to connect is via a security to a broker of view 4.6 Server.

We can see this in the future, but at present a normal user (read: not engineers like us ;-) do not want / need this feature.)

I am however open to business cases.

  • Assessment of JHeadstart.

I posted this query on "[email protected]", as advised by Steven Davelaar in one of his messages, but did not get the answer am still waiting to hear. It is urgent because we must take a call and move and that's why I write the same thing here to a wider audience.

One of the projects I've been working on involves a legacy application that is developed using the forms with Oracle database. I want to evaluate JHeadstart and highlight the power and usefulness of this tool by a CEP and prepare a business case.

Unfortunately, when I help less-> check updates, I do not see JHeadstart (we use JDeveloper 11.1.1.2). Then, I downloaded the software from the website http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jheadstart/index.html JHeadstart. The available version 10.1.3 and I think that it is not compatible with JDeveloper 11 g. However, when I installed JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 and tried using JHeadstart, it shows me a JHeadstart Designer - Migrator forms option. The problem is that I need generator of JHeadstart Forms2ADF which is not available.

Ask you please let me know how I can assess it and go further? Ideally JHeadstart to be compatible with JDev 11 g.

    Please advice.
Also let me know the commercials, if any at all. You can reach me at the [email protected]

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your interest in Oracle JHeadstart and especially Forms2ADF. At the moment, we have not an evaluation version available for Forms2ADF. The production version is only available to the licensee. How to evaluate Forms2ADF is to evaluate Forms2ADF with Oracle Consulting.
